Glad to know they fixed the little triangle piece that comes off at speed. I think the original intent was to make it easy to get to the ECU, but when you go fast it catches the wind on the leading edge.
This is tough lol I have the '21 in Raven edition and I like that one better overall. I think the '15-'19 look better from the front with the wider headlights, but the '20+ looks better from the sides....imo
I can see that! I like the 15-19 and the 20+ as well and would take either one but I can agree the 20+ side profile looks a little more sleek than the 15-19

I just bought a 2019 r1 raven red and I love it.
the front end on the 15-19 is WAYYYY MORE AGGRESSIVE.. they kinda ruined it on the 2020 looks like a r6.. rip..
The new r1 looks like r6 but I prefer the 2017

I just love how the side fairing cover up part of the frame and join with the tank. It look very neat.
Older model defenitily looks sharper from the front, and has better looking headlights IMO, but the rest of the bike it's hard to pick one or the other in terms of looks.
17 looks better, the 20 is wider in the front .. not feeling that
I'd buy older model for front end alone. They shouldn't have changed the styling
The 20’ looks more similar to the M1 . The shape of the air inlet is almost identical to the all mighty YZR M1 that it was intended to resemble. I’m not one to criticize the looks of a bike that I personally love, I just happen to have the same blue 2020 model and I got the latest iteration for a reason . . I love the blue magnesium wheels. Also have a few features the 17 doesn’t have . The 20 is supposed more aero efficient according to Yamaha. Almost everything has been refined. Engine intervals, shock internals, brakes, bodywork, clutch, throttle is fully electronic, no cables whatsoever. Just to vaguely list a few differences.
The difference between initial performance is euro 4 (2017) and euro 5 (2020). The 2020 R1 is more restricted. When you get rid of the restrictions, the full potential of the 2020 R1 will show!

bro 18-20+ does NOT come with autoblip. I have a '23 R1 and I had to pay extra for the quickshifter/autoblip
2017 sounds better to me.haha I have a 2017 but only 1 headlight is on which is the low beam. If I switch to high beam the other turns on. Is there a mod so there will be two lights in low beam?
Man i hear that the first generation have probles and blow the engine easily after 2019 thay fix it?

I personally loved the slim nature of R1 coz that was the only slim liter class available in market but the new r1 more over look like a r6 from front due to drl's anyways if i got option to choose mine would be the black one 🫀

Because compared to other bikes the yamaha are little modified??
This was just a comparison between both Yamahas since we had 2 different years present. But also yes both Yamahas are least modded than any bike present

If you like red, remember that the red '15 R1 has the hard, plastic hose located on the left side of the bike in red. Such a touch has not been replicated since.
New r1 looks more mean and sounds better imo getting one soon excited

Reaper, sorry I missed you at the Miami meetup. Moto Mac is my cuz. the blue R1 owner must have watched Jaret Campisi’s recent R1 mod. It Looks like you missed that the blue R1 owner removed the rear passenger foot pegs? Campisi did this to reduce weight by 3 lbs (and he also put on the Rizoma mirrors)

i wish theyd bring back the 09-14s looks...this Smooshed up wasp face look is lame, the older 12-14 look especially with the current power and weight but these better lights would be way cooler
R1's were so much prettier 10 years ago, don't see why would anyone buy them now next to bmw s1000rr
My guess is ones louder than the other because the exhausts are both knockoffs? No hate but knockoffs are the same but they aren't the same.
The other reason is both bikes I think have different compression ratio which would affect the sound.
