In my opinion, this tracks is easily one of the most underrated in MK8 Deluxe. Thank you so much for making a remix.
Of course, and I very much agree! I think the GBA courses in general are overlooked because everybody wants the N64 & GCN courses 😆
Oh, this is so fun and charming! This is definitely one of the more underrated Mario Kart tracks, I feel, and it's awesome to see you covering it - and what great timing, too, with the onset of the winter season! ❄
This remix has such great energy overall, and it's wild how the song shifts from sounding cozy and jolly to having more of a hyped-up, modern sound design. The strings and accordion (or musette?) at the start are perfect for creating that kind of quaint "winter cabin" kind of feel, and it's reminiscent of the original instrumentation, which makes for a nostalgic listening experience! But then you can feel the buildup coming on as the instruments change from acoustic to electronic, with that cool synth brass sound leading the way at 0:55 - it makes an immediate impact, alongside the introduction of the kick and claps, alongside other percussive elements. It sounds like someone strung up a bunch of holiday lights and set them to _dance_ mode! 🌟
The segment at 1:20 makes for a neat segue back into the original instrumentation, and it sounds cute and retro - what a great little midway section! I know I always say it - and I always mean it - your transitional techniques are top-tier, and whether it's a quick breakdown, a massive buildup, or an entire interlude, it always gets the job done superbly! I really like how when it gets hype at 2:30, you're using different instruments, but with a similarly high energy level - the variance in instrumentation is awesome, and really shows attention to detail. And that signature Player2 delayed drop - and with the item roulette, no less - is so well-executed.... heck, you even have a Blue Shell dodge right on that cymbal crash, speaking of signature elements. The music is just a joy to listen to, from start to finish.
Wonderful job with the video production, as well! Incorporating footage from both the GBA original and the remastered MK8D versions provides a fun and engaging viewing experience that really takes gamers back to... wow, over 20 years ago! It honestly doesn't even feel that long to me. 😅 And it's so neat how you correlated the more retro and familiar instrumentation with the OG gameplay, while having the modern sound style accompany the footage from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. As usual, you've used a wide variety of visual transitions that look super professional, and they help to bridge the different clips together seamlessly in time with the music.
I know you never see it as an expectation, but I feel bad that it's been so long since I last commented. I've been thoroughly enjoying your new releases each week, though, and I hope to have more opportunities to comment in the weeks and months to come. Typically my winter remixes tend to get less viewership - not that it doesn't hit the same as non-holiday themed remixes, but this one in particular I could definitely classify as an underrated "deep cut"!
The intro is strings, accordion, and a bassoon! Felt the oboe family needed to be a part of that wintery mix! I like how mentioned the transition from acoustic to electronic - I think even I'm starting to notice I'm becoming a little _too_ acoustic for how banging the drops are, haha! Dance mode initiated, indeed! 🕺
The breaks in my tracks are actually the most difficult to pull off; 'cause in my head I'm like "how am I suppose to recover after that explosive drop section" 😅 but somehow I manage! Utilizing different instrumentation does help when bringing in the break, as it's essentially just the same part of the song (especially with how short these Mario Kart loops are!) so it at least brings in a new variation of the melody that we've already heard one already in the song!
Oh yes, I can't possibly pass up the blue shell dodge in my Mario Kart remixes! It's now a staple being a veteran since the SNES days...my oh my do I feel old! Isn't it crazy how this game released over 20 years ago? I gotta agree it definitely doesn't feel like it!! Glad you enjoyed the visuals, as you know you've played a huge part with your feedback over the years!

Amazing job on not just the entire remix, but also getting the endings of the first and second parts (or verses) correct; I've seen other remixes where they incorrectly used the first ending for the second verse lol

I saw the notification and had to click on it. I absolutely love snowland! I consider the track honestly as a comfort track in MK8D as its a peaceful calming track....when you ahve no redshells coming at you. But this is great 2! Great job!
Same, this track was a pleasant surprise! I'm more impressed with how much personality the MK8D version has, though I do miss the snow shortcuts in the original GBA version!

Thank you sir!! And yes! Footage from GBA was recorded by a Gameboy Player attachment for GameCube! For some remixes I'll use promotional videos or cutscenes, but most of the time i'd say I try to use gameplay footage!
