Vietnam and Thailand are simply far ahead of Goa . They are slick, cheap , clean, beautiful and offer much better facilities as far as infrastructure, hotels ,entertainment is concerned .
Thats because they are not India and not inhabited by Indians. They follow rules, have basic common sense & civic sense. Thats why Indians who litter in India dont do it there.

This is pure KARMA. When I visited Goa in 2004, the locals were so polite. But in last 10 years, the local will make you feel that you’re in their territory and they are the boss. The locals of Goa are getting the treatment back. They deserve this :)

So that is the reality in most places in India which unfortunately North Indians with their divisive mentality can’t understand. Also, the fact that many Indians saw Goa as a party destination where anything goes and yes even the Goa government propagated the same image has caused the locals to be Aryans wary of the Indian tourists especially, as they don’t see Goa as the domestic tourists see it. 1. Indian tourists are treated like shit in Goa. 2. The number of scams are increasing, and local police themselves are involved in many of them. 3. Everything is overpriced.
It's the congress supported and created mafia.. In karnatakaa nd telangana same issue is rising.. Taxi and drivers, cab mafia is rising.. Thwy want to destabilize the local markets by instigating the locals against tourists.. Foolish people don't understand the issue.
I am glad this issue is now discussed publicly which most of us have been discussing privately. And the point of taxi is bang on. Once me and my wife were left stranded on a remote area because the taxi we hired left without informing us and we had no other alternative
Everyone knows this, how Taxi -mafia is run in Goa. They have their areas divided, if you ever try to hire a taxi from other person, they will be scared and will ask you to say a different story on how you picked them vs. the local taxi person. Try booking a taxi from MMT or similar portal, their services are terrific but once what happened that when the taxi guy arrived to pick us to the Airport, he was threatened by the local taxi guy who sits outside the gate, it went on for sometime and then on the way taxi guy explained that areas are divided so they were asking him to cancel and go. This is so common and happens almost everyday and government doesn't do anything as the Taxi-mafia is their Vote bank and perhaps funding election funds too!
Taxi mafia does not allow Uber or Ola. GoaMiles drivers are always looking over their shoulders. If basic commuting is so tedious why go to Goa? Not to mention the chapri crowd and high decibel music at most of the beaches

I recently visited Thailand for the second time. I booked a beach resort with direct access to beach and pool and with breakfast for just mere 2.7k per night!! Its a 3 star resort btw and can you imagine anywhere in India offering that? Thailand is value for money and definitely much safer compared to these mafias who rip and scam people off. The main reason not only goa, but India over all lacks international tourism is because of the lack of INTEGRITY
The cheapest I paid for a room was in Nha Trang, Vietnam. INR 4800 for 5 nights 😅. It was a 3 star hotel with a huge lobby and free breakfast and the lift went up to 28 floors. The reception desk had 4 working employees in parallel. The room had a bath tub and a balcony and daily room service without asking. While booking online I though it must have been a scam for being so cheap. I was wrong 🤣.
I second that. The people running businesses only want your money and don't care about making you feel good. They make you feel like you owe them money.
Just by paying 10K more, why won't I go to Bali instead of facing police harassment in Goa. Goa police is most currenpt when it comes to RTO and Traffic. We had very bad experience there.

Reasons -: 1. Food - probably the worst food in all of India, especially vegetarian. Been to the “best” restaurants, cafes in 5-star facilities and been disappointed in my dozen odd visits to Goa. 2. Accommodation - Indeed, the best properties in Thailand/Vietnam and other SE Asian countries would cost you under 10k/night with impeccable hospitality. Compared to that, you’d find semi-luxury(sub-standard) properties for the same price in Goa. I’ve seen the best hotels in Goa going for over 40000 a night consistently and that’s a ripoff of the highest order. 3. Roads, Traffic and aggressive drivers - Man o Man! Goan roads are so thin, so bad, you are always second guessing for your life. Add traffic and hooliganism on the roads, it just feels like a boiler room. When I was really young, I’d take scooties to get around the state but now - as I am well aware of my physical safety on the roads I rent Cars which is a given in Goa and how dangerous the whole road scene there is. 4. Taxi Mafia - Usually, I end up paying 4000-5000 to a taxi driver for a ride from the Airport to my hotel. 5. Locals ki Dadagiri - There is a certain aggression in the vibe of Goans towards tourists for some strange reason. Except people working in the hospitality industry, I found lots of people unwelcoming and crass. 6. Scams - We, being the scam capital of the World - don’t do well with our foreign friends either. It’s unfortunate how dishonest people have become in this country, you won’t find that frequency of people trying to take money out of you in SE Asia.
Everything else is fine, but where the heck do you find the best hotels of Thailand under 10k?😂 I don't know what do you think best is but there are also many luxurious hotels which go well over 80k a night
Been to Goa, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, and by far Goa was worst of all... I mean taxi mafia is hell costly, and the hospitality in Vietnam and Sri Lanka is great, fabulous and Goa just sucked. Literally overhyped still living in past destination. Even Vishakhapatnam and Mangaluru are better then Goa. Never visiting Goa again for sure if it remains the same!!
Visakhapatnam is far better, You get multiple package, consider spiritual and tourism , You can visit a dessert area, visit multiple temples near visakhapatnam, 4 beaches, lighthouse, shipyard, araku valley, paderu
As a person who has visited Goa 7 times in the past 12 years, most recently in Nov '23, I'm sure that the base issue is the change in attitude of the locals. When I first visited Goa back in 2012, the locals were sweet, helpful and friendly. Nowadays, locals are only looking to loot the visitors
@@michaeljames4875 The (remaining) locals and the authorities should take a stand and fuck these miscreants up. All parties involved should understand that they all lose out if tourism fizzles out. Remember Maldives coming back to India crying? There's no point in passing the blame around. Goa used to be my favourite vacation spot (excluding the Himalayas), not anymore. If they can't bring the interest back (again I dunno how, it's their headache), well then they are doomed aren't they?
Vietnam is a much smaller country & economy than India but I was surprised by the infrastructure there. Specially its new cities like Danang are no less than singapore. You can easily get a Seaview room there for just 3k Rs per night. Whereas, prices in goa for hotel, food, taxis are much higher...
Vietnam used to be poorer than India. But now Vietnam per capita income has suprassed India. Education outcomes are also superior. They have a good chance of becoming first world country in the next 25-30 years.
As a Goan, I recommend any other place other than Goa. You get value for money in so many other countries , that have been mentioned here . If any taxi drivers are reading this …. This is your bloody fault. You and your filthy cars are the ones that leave the first and last impression on all tourists that come to Goa. As for me, I have stopped using taxis from the airports long ago. I make other arrangements.
Everyone saying that goa is worst place to visit now... just wait for 31st how crowded it will be...I am Goan and it hurts to see the state of our Goa completely destroyed by our politicians and outsiders...so many tourists not respecting the laws, creating nuisance and ruckus and then blaming the locals..in this video they are showing hotel prices which is high..is Radisson goa owned hotel??? Most hotels are owned by outsiders and they are blaming us for high prices.. most of the rental cars which are driven by these tourists are involved in accidents (drunk driving)... fontainhas mala people say that tourists trespass their private property and do reels and trouble them..even parra road they trouble the traffic by doing reels...they are saying boycott goa...but now also if you go and see there are so many tourists visiting here...
One of the biggest problem which Goa faces is the taxi mafia, imagine paying 2k one way by flight from Mumbai and ending up paying 1.5k taking a taxi upon landing. Ola/Uber would solve this.

My recent experience as a foreign tourist in Goa: 1. Taxi mafia. It's hard to go anywhere if you don't rent a scooty. 2. Dirty streets and beaches. Sri Lanka is way cleaner than Goa. 3. Two of the biggest reasons over and above the points made in the videos 1. International Low Tax / Duty Free Shopping 2. Goa has a social media fatigue, where it has not the same value as Going to south east Asia destinations One point mentioned in the video , may sound minor , but for me it’s strong no go as I hate any cab haggling or even sense of being robbed by none app based cab ( Goa has to adopt to the world , and give people seamless experience of security & not being cheated)

Thailand and Indonesia are way ahead in terms of infrastructure, safety and the experiences they are offering, I visited Thailand with my sister last September and was shocked to see women driving cabs across the city for the entire night and one can walk roam in the streets without any worry, meanwhile in Goa I can’t even imagine to do that, I booked all my hotels in Krabi and Phuket which were under 2k in INR and all of them were 3star hotels with complimentary breakfast and access to the pool which I absolutely cannot imagine in Goa under 2k, and beaches are so so clean, one has the access to stroll around the beach without any gaze but here the beaches are so so overcrowded that at a point it starts feeling nauseating, the administration should start thinking seriously what they have turned to this place which was once such a cool place to be in our country

Indians never focus on infrastructure in urban areas - wide, safe to walk roads, less noise, retail and food streets, modern business areas, easy local commutes through public buses, local festivals, decent healthcare, food, water, banking, affordable stays etc all are part of what tourists need. Focus on these. No one wants to visit towns where you get stuck in traffic or everything is so difficult to do - that defeats the very purposes of holidaying.
Indian mind hardly works on improving anything but only on destruction and making things worse. Instead of developing more Indian destinations to match Goa, they have even ruined Goa. All hill stations are ruined as well.
Bcoz big cities instantly attracts poor people from states like Bihar, UP. Once they come they immediately start setting up their carts and encroach on the roads/streets which even though was initially made wide and beautiful starts looking ugly and cluttered over time. This all is taken care of by the local police who get their monthly cuts from these carts and it just gets worse.
Indians are only good at giving money to rich tycoons and the very poor! Middle classes need to work closer together in business to make a better India.

The 5 star hotels of SE asia are cheaper compared to us as we earn more than them. all about PPP. But if anyone thinks to stay there permanently then it would be a bad idea as we would earn there in their terms of PPP which is far less than india
As a goan i would completely agree with all the points. And the government is in complete denial when asked about poor road conditions & expensive flight fares. It has not just become expensive for tourists but also for the goans right now. Even property rates have skyrocketed in fairly popular areas & people from other parts of india have massively invested in these properties with rates that are not justifiable. but soon demand will be lesser as people in general are skipping goa & due to massive supply of villas, property purchasers are gonna make losses.

I am from Goa and I recommend anyone who is planning to Goa please avoid and visit better places like Vietnam/Thailand/Malaysia as Goa is no longer Goa what it used to be it is hostile towards tourist (For Good reasons) and no longer clean and green space. Also, I am kind of happy hearing that Tourism is reducing reasons: -Poor Infra/Overcrowding -Women Safety -Cases of robbery -Tharki log staring other Women like they have never seen women -Overpricing of property a local Person cannot afford anything as all land is being purchased at exorbitant rates by actors/stars, business man and the mountains are being deforested to build villas and hilltop buildings. -Drink and drive resulting in many accidents -Drug circulation/Late night Rave Parties -No good form of public transport because of Taxi Mafias even for locals -There aren't many Goikar/Locals left we have been almost outnumbered -Rise in corruption all government officials want to fill in their pockets they don't give shit about tourist or locals -Politicians are braindead and corrupt (This is the main reason everything is falling apart) -Coverup of many cases and bad news for example just like mentioned in this video where the officials are saying tourist numbers are incorrect -Cost of living is very high for a local who is doing a white collar salary Job Overall this has resulted in resentment among Locals due to the above points and they do not want tourists anymore to visit Goa unless a person is owning a bar or restaurant or Taxi driver or any other in this sort of hospitality sector.

Reasons -:

Now some Goan will come abusing me in the comments. But what they don't know is I am born in Goa and living in Bangalore.

All thanks to those dirty domestic tourists..
Diu is better then goa
Cancelled my trip to Goa ..1st week of November and visited Phuket ..Much better experience at the same price ..sometimes lower ..Can book grab taxi easily ..luxury ride at cost much lesser than Goa taxis ..Great food at cheaper rates ..
My recent experience as a foreign tourist in Goa:
1. Taxi mafia. It's hard to go anywhere if you don't rent a scooty.
2. Dirty streets and beaches. Sri Lanka is way cleaner than Goa.
3. Food options: Almost all restaurants have similar copy-paste menus. Almost no street foods.
4. There is no value for me. For the same price I stay in 3x better hotel in Thailand or other country
5. Scams. There are tons of scammer everywhere. And police don't do anything.
6. It feels like the entire state is a mafia. I don't mind paying high price for better experience. However, it feels like everywhere in Goa is designed to squeeze money out of you without providing service.
This year, I traveled to Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Laos, and Cambodia. Interestingly, I have been skipping Goa, a place I used to visit at least twice a year before 2019. It’s evident that many people are now opting for alternative destinations, which poses a challenge for our country’s tourism industry.
Good. wise decision.
Crime rate, safety of tourists, corruption and scams have spoiled goas image affecting tourism. Today Goa is the worst place in India for tourist experience😢
Don't speak whatever you want. Goa is a beautiful place to visit. How can you blame a diversified group of tourists visiting from different parts of India and blame Goa for it?
@@AmbikaS-m6v Oh yeah, only tourists to blame? have you seen your third class infrastructure? Roads are shit, public transport does not exist and taxi mafia and other scams are galore. Goans need to introspect.
@Ambikas Goa is a horrible place to visit now. Goa Tourism is in hands of Mafia and Govt don’t care
It's really not safe for woman to visit Goa and I don't know if this is the same in all india
@@deidresable My two cents as a Goan- Goa is one of the safest places for female tourists in India. Women can dress less modestly. Women can consume alcohol without being judged by people or harassed by the police. Women can expect less harassment and uncomfortable behavior in general compared to other tourist destinations in India.
The bar for India is just really low.
Goa is so expensive that everyone is preferring to Thailand..
Even Pappu. You havent experienced their lady men?

@@merwyncolaco3962 LOL, my family is one of them. We don't live in Goa anymore and don't vacation in Goa. We've visited Thailand thrice now.

Exactly man, chapri people with money are now infesting Himachal now 😂
Now all these chapris will ruin india's image in Southeast asia.

It's just hyperflastion in local are which will burst when there is no tourists movement
Covid is the main reason
I think this point is valid for every tourist point in India... Its cheaper and better to travel outside with better price and infra
Goa is now ruled by Hooligans and Mafias. Goa is different from what it used to be 15-20 years back. It will be very hard to reclaim what it used to be back then. Goa is a tourist trap destination!
Tell me one place in India worth going for a vacation today? None. Reason is not prices, infrastructure or anything else. Its the hordes of domestic tourists. There are too many domestic tourists who overwhelm any infra and make the experience very bad due to their unruly behavior. I stopped traveling inside the country after covid
Unexplored areas of Himalyas in UK HP and Arunachal.
Agree
@@GuzzarAwan They have very poor road connectivity
Agreed. I want to Manali and it was so crowded. Horrible traffic jam and very costly food.
100% true. I’ve always regretted my last 4 years of Indian holidays and that wasnt the case before. We as a country are experiencing hokidaying a lot after Covid at least that’s one side effect of growing income.
This video is absolutely true with all aspects of what I experienced last month .. Food poisoning spoiled my whole trip .. be very careful in selecting the foods you eat .. sea food poisoning is too high .. and taxi mafias are worse
Two days back I went to doctor for cough problem, in my home town in Karnataka it cost me ₹200 for doctor consultation & tablets combined, in goa it cost 1200 😮, so looting is not limited to tourist industry even educated people & police loot you
You should not go to doctor for cough
Govt hospital don't count
Dude… how bad was your cough? Smoking or TB?! And I work in the government sector where insulin costing 1000s are given for free
@@bazinggaaa5843 before going to doctor I had cough for 3 day during that time I took cough syrup that was previously effective & ayurvedic powder but cough was not stopping so I went to doctor , first it was very hard to find a decent place , places that showed as clinics in Google map was random family house twice
@@bazinggaaa5843 then felt i need to consult doctor
Blessing for Goans who don't survive on tourism but suffer the inflation caused by the exorbitant prices of essentials.
Two of the biggest reasons over and above the points made in the videos
1. International Low Tax / Duty Free Shopping
2. Goa has a social media fatigue, where it has not the same value as Going to south east Asia destinations
One point mentioned in the video , may sound minor , but for me it’s strong no go as I hate any cab haggling or even sense of being robbed by none app based cab ( Goa has to adopt to the world , and give people seamless experience of security & not being cheated)
Taxi Mafia is Definitely the Culprit. Goa Must build world class metro , atleast connecting all major tourist spots, and atmax, connecting Entire state.
Indians must punish Goa Taxi Mafia by avoiding to use their services !
I am glad foreign tourists are ditching goa, hope the local tourists do the same.
Totally as a fellow goan I am soooo happy.. keep the bhikna out of goa
Even if GOA is the worst place still I Will prefer GOA simply because it's in india I will promote our own place rather than giving my money to foreign countries now things GOA need to improve are
Cleanness
Good local people behavior
The government needs to work on infrastructure
Keep an eye on affordability
Regulate Public transport Cabs etc
and make GOA Frendlier for All

100% True! Goa is no longer a tourist place 👍
Very true.. we were threatened by taxi drivers outside Marriott Anjuna. Goa Miles needs advance high deposit in its app, but no cabs are available when needed. Will never visit Goa again.
I've lived in Thailand and goa for 3 years each and I find that Thai people are much friendlier than Goan. I've never heard thai people saying this is our land and you need to live our way or get lost, on the contrary I used here from locals atleast once a day.
For me From airport to candelim. Taxi fare was 1800 rs. bus services just for name sake in Goa. Hotel Prices are too high services are nominal. If you enter beaches you will see 100s of scammers. Just go to Thailand or Bali
Why there is no transport?
Even smaller cities have city transport
You should have booked cab from GoaMiles. It’s around 1000-1100!!
I just been to Goa last week !!

It will be good if both domestic and international tourists ditch Goa because it will help Goa a lot with less people.
Okay point noted
Yes for some time Goa should be left alone. Thats the only way for it to recover it's charm and lazy life.
i visited Goa and south east asia i prefer Bali more than anything else. The problem of GOA is that the taxi fare is too expensive and people dont know proper good destinations.
Even property rates have skyrocketed in fairly popular areas & people from other parts of india have massively invested in these properties with rates that are not justifiable. but soon demand will be lesser as people in general are skipping goa & due to massive supply of villas, property purchasers are gonna make losses.

really... I'm glad someone said this. I went to Goa for my Coast Guard SSB this year in January and the SSB centre was 2 km away from the airport, I landed at around 6 am in the morning, and when I checked for taxis they told me 500rs which is much higher than I expected and I told them it is just back of the airport you have to depart me but they were so arrogant, so I had no options to give them what they wanted and ended up paying more than 500rs. The behaviour of local Goans is also bad.

Good! Goa should learn a lesson. I am a Goan but this is ridiculous
I was in Goa during the third week of Oct 24. Following happened
Guy who handed over self driven taxi when introduced through mutually known associate was very rude. High price with 100% advance.
Second, I was amazed at the very small portion size of food at the highest rated, good restaurant and even on the online portal. Food for 4 was not even adequate for 3.
Third. Ocean side shacks are mostly being operated by other than gaon, rude and pathetic in approach.
Fourth, even liquor was costlier than Delhi.
Fifth. No police presence on the road, no road safety or discipline.
I am from Goa and I recommend anyone who is planning to Goa please avoid and visit better places like Vietnam/Thailand/Malaysia as Goa is no longer Goa what it used to be it is hostile towards tourist (For Good reasons) and no longer clean and green space.
Also, I am kind of happy hearing that Tourism is reducing reasons:
-Poor Infra/Overcrowding
-Women Safety
-Cases of robbery
-Tharki log staring other Women like they have never seen women
-Overpricing of property a local Person cannot afford anything as all land is being purchased at exorbitant rates by actors/stars, business man and the mountains are being deforested to build villas and hilltop buildings.
-Drink and drive resulting in many accidents
-Drug circulation/Late night Rave Parties
-No good form of public transport because of Taxi Mafias even for locals
-There aren't many Goikar/Locals left we have been almost outnumbered
-Rise in corruption all government officials want to fill in their pockets they don't give shit about tourist or locals
-Politicians are braindead and corrupt (This is the main reason everything is falling apart)
-Coverup of many cases and bad news for example just like mentioned in this video where the officials are saying tourist numbers are incorrect
-Cost of living is very high for a local who is doing a white collar salary Job
Overall this has resulted in resentment among Locals due to the above points and they do not want tourists anymore to visit Goa unless a person is owning a bar or restaurant or Taxi driver or any other in this sort of hospitality sector.
I have been to Goa and Thailand in recent past and can compare, there is a huge difference of infrastructure esp roads maintenance, cleanliness, politeness of people, activities around, hygienic food, commute. Goa somehow stuck 10 yrs back and needs to catch up quickly.
Were staying near Calangute beach in a hotel. Couldn't find a doctor after 7 pm.
Many of my friends said the same thing about Goa - overhyped and unprofessional. Glad that people are discussing these issues publicly. If I remember correctly Goa tourism sent a legal notice to a guy who talked about this first on Twitter. Pathetic.
Also Thailand has become VISA Free now for Indians, with affordable direct flight it's definitely comparable.
If you spend in Goa, money remains in India.
There are many facets to Goa then only beaches.
This seems to be a campaign by TOURIST OPERATORS TO THAILAND to sell their package and also THE LEFTISTS.

As for Sri Lanka it is much better to visit SL not only because SL is very clean and much more well organised than India but also it is one of those rare countries where the depreciating Indian rupee provides much value for the amount you spend because of the lower exchange rate and purchasing power parity with the SL rupee.
