@finisher98 what a profound statement. I bet you spent years studying philosophy to come up with that gem. 'Fools need knowledge' - yeah, no kidding. Thanks for sharing your groundbreaking insight with I'm sure the millions of people who are considered 'fools' are just waiting with bated breath for your words of wisdom. Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam trip I can cover all these 4 countries in one visit and under Rs. 1 Lakh. Why should I go to rude Goa, uncivilized Goa, Dirty Goa??
I being a Goan, agree that Goa has lost its charm and beauty. We are to be blamed and not any outsider. Its time to clean this mess as soon as possible by first starting with our dumb headed politicians.
Goa is still one of the most beautiful places in India we should try to promote our tourism and not loot people especially foreigners many people are saying bad things about Goa and justifying going to south East Asian countries which is shameful Goa❤❤❤❤❤❤
From about 5:00 you are digressing from your main topic'The truth behind the 'fall' in Goa’s tourist numbers' by talking about Mangroves - what exactly is the connection ?
Of course there is a connection between mangroves and tourism. Rains in Goa attract tourists. But flooding due to destroying mangroves will not attract tourists anymore
I born and grown up in Goa. In 90s i saw beaches very clean and clear but after 2 decades it's completely changed. In 90s all businesses were in the hand of Goans and now non-Goans are doing these businesses where they don't have any discipline and they are very rude. Hence these non Goans are tarnishing Goa image.

Thailand and Vietnam are light years ahead of Goa! Goa's practically the poster child for 'filthy and unplanned.' Congestion? Check. Overpriced everything? Double-check. Finding a beach with proper road connectivity? Well, you might as well be looking for Atlantis. And the ambiance? More like a Haryanvi Dhaba with a sprinkle of UP for good measure. Truly a world-class experience-if world-class means overcrowded chaos.

Good honest tourister well come always. But criminals thiefs, looters, not allowed. Goans are popular in the world for piecefully living people.
This news will make a lot of original Goans very happy. If tourism is halved, local Goans will be able to go and enjoy the beaches, etc. They'll even be able to use taxis at affordable rates. Only the authorities will be unhappy. And also all the non-Goans who are working in the hospitality industry in Goa. Original Goans have been a minority in Goa for quite some time now.
My friend...Goans are inherently lazy...hence out of state migrants have flooded in Goa...you guys are happy having fish curry rice ...rest of time go fishing..laze around and keep discussing how others are taking over Goa
If tourists are halved, lots of Goans will be out of job as well. The irony is tourism IS Goa's main industry and Tourism and Tourists ARE the reason Goa and Goans are wealthy.
As a tourist, I do not visit goa for appreciating Mangroves. Thailand and Malaysia seem to be able to maintain thier culture and nature without blaming tourists for it.

As a Goan and involved in tourism for last 4 decades I am telling you this. The tourist footfall numbers of the goa govt comes on the statistics reports submitted by hoteliers every month. In the last 5 years there is a rampant growth in housing sector which leads to non Goans buying flats, villas, houses, nothing wrong with it. The issue comes when the said villas, flats are rented to tourists on daily and monthly basis which is illegal. No licenses and these on top are residential properties. These crooks float their residential properties online or through agents which robs legitimate hoteliers of their livelihood. Also these crooks do not file any compliances as these are illegal. So naturally tourist data will show less numbers as tourists stay in these illegal places. The worst thing being the government is in deep slumber to act suo moto against these sites and places. I see plenty of tourist in Goa but all cook and eat and stay in these apartments. Also the ammended Tourist trade act is violative of Art 14 and other constitutional provisions.
@harishrao2000 Tourism is an industry. A guest house/ hotel has to take permission from at least 8 departments and file compliances and yearly returns. The primary question is wether the construction of the structure commercial? Is the conversion of land where structure stands is commercial? Villas owners lists residential properties with residential electricity and domestic water online robbing the govt and us taxpayers to earn profits. I say wanna do business construct proper commercial structure for hotel with all permissions, next take all permission from concerned departments, take water ,electricity commercial connections invest money and then see if Airbnb or oyo is feasible . You will be broke. An example driving an rent a cab with black/yellow plate vs renting out a private white number vehicle which is illegal. Hope your doubts are cleared
@@anthonyrodrigues9710 What you are saying is correct and it is not restricted to Goa alone. Many other tourist places and of course religious places are seeing a spurt in "Homestays" but they are actually normal hotel with several floors and rooms who do not comply with govt regulations and the owner stays on the top floor to justify it as Homestay. If it's a villa or independent structure then the owner would be in some other city but they still call it a homestay. People who indulge in practises a normal regulated hotel would not allow pay a very high price to patronize these places. Invariably such places are owned by rich people with connections.
LoL....serves the Hoteliers right... grossly overpriced hotels which offer poor value AirBnB and similar platforms offer much better value to Tourists!!!!
Goa for last ten years has gone from bad to worse, Goa is becoming very dirty due to migrant population living in cities on government land ,everyone is busy converting land etc to make money, no one cares about cleanliness, garbage is thrown on the footpath, there are no garbage bins are kept on the streets, new footpaths are built but not maintained.

I have been going to Goa for the past 50 years, but unfortunately the filthy beaches, strewn garbage all over, cow dung on roads, water and power scarcity, taxi cartels, brazen concretisation and unfettered building of properties at the cost of sacrificing the environment, the total lack of policing of noisy tourists and loud music ,is slowly turning the pristine and beautiful Goa, into an urban slum. Very sad indeed
This phase and sea change of goa being turned into an urban slum unfortunately has evolved over the past 10 years due to irresponsible senseless Governance ,where money and hunger for power is the only defining motive and mindset of those who administer
What a useless analysis! What started out as a good introduction quickly unravelled into a tree-hugging propaganda. People don't go to Goa for its biodiversity. People go there to experience a slice of western life style and party! How come this analysis didn't show the domestic tourists numbers?
Western lifestyle? So many of these Gujjus and Northies land there with their vegetarian and teetotaller fetish. And their small minds. The whole place has been spoilt.

This era is not about Indian tourists visiting Goa to get to know about Goa and it's culture. It's all about what an Indian can do in Goa that he won't be able to do in Gujarat or Delhi.
Totally 👏 People who come from very conservative states are behaving here as more "westerners" than Westerners themselves ! Social frustration in other places is evacuated here in the less gracious way possible. Goa is kind of a cheap "desi" Hawaii, Miami, Cancun, or Malaga. People hopping to live there the famed "Western lifestyle" they always secretly cherished with some shame inside their heart. Hidden under kesari aur sabzi dupattas and salwars, that a section of them highly advocate at home. All of this is done by completely ignoring and erasing the own Goan Sanskaar (both Hindu and Christian). What is happening in Gokarna reveals the paradox of general Indian society. When a originally temple town (with its kshetras, numerous mutts, tanks, orthodox brahmins quarters, etc.), frequented by few foreign hippies tolerated in exchange of few rupees and respect of rules, is now primarily visited by Indian urbanites who act here without the sensibilities that they know and follow (at least in public) in their original setting.

Exactly the same is happening in Ladakh. We now have hawkers selling cheap gol guppas, peanuts ,toys on pavements ,dhabas Punjabi style everywhere. The amount of garbage thrown around is imaginable . We were known to keep our roads, streets ,nallas clean and beautiful but it's all gone. Half of Nepal citizens are sitting here. They roam around on bikes and second hand vehicles as they earn high wages. Again the administration run by non locals cannot foresee the future problems that will come out in near future. The governor, with his entourage of ias and ips officer come here on honeymoon posting. They enjoy the cool weather and the hospitality of the locals and leave.
The decline in tourism in Goa cannot be solely attributed to either locals or tourists. The primary issue lies in the lack of enforcement of stricter laws regarding cleanliness and ethical practices. This can be addressed if local authorities demonstrate the will to take action. They need to allocate more manpower towards maintenance, including cleaning, beautification, and monitoring unethical practices. Meanwhile, Maharashtra's Konkan beaches may not be a clearwater and that popular but offer similar attractions, such as paragliding, scuba diving, and delightful meals,
Goa is very expensive from food to stays, the drinks and food prices in clubs are crazy expensive and let’s not to for get about the cops, I cannot tell you as to how many times cops have harassed me for money.

Goa has gone to dogs, Hotels are prohibitively expensive, food is pedestrian at five star rates, Goans taxi drivers openly overcharge tourists, Airport at Mopa is very far and taxi fares expensive. Corruption is highest. Shack food is unhygienic and costly. More importantly attitude of Goemkars are unwelcoming ! Give Goa a break, there are better destinations in the world! Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam which offer better services as compared to Goa.
Goa is now very expensive!!! Thailand , Indonesia, srilanka are comparatively cheaper plus service is much better. Plus all Goa cabbies must be thrown out of Goa if they really want to get things under control. Local people also do too much natak !!! Also declare Goa as no development zone now ! Don't allow any new construction.
I still remember, way back in 2016, we were late to reach RGBC. I got down from the car and asked a gentleman the way to RGBC in south Goa. He was drunk and shouted at me ga*ndu log idhar atha hai etc. Most of the people are rude and arrogant. If tourists are unwelcome, they should openly say so. This never happens in Thailand, Vietnam…
That's because a lot of bigoted mainland Indians land up there. The average Indian is far more bigoted, filthy, boorish, and ill behaved than most Goans. On top of that, if they are Northies, you will get some extra bigotry and stupidity. Enough for locals to get fed up.
Any other tourist spots in India are same story, over priced hotels, food, transport, parking, touts, beggers, narrow roads, fleecing hawkers, unhygienic conditions, police harassment, local goondas, better to visit SE countries.
What goa need is balance between tourism and ecosystem, and for that being costly for now is good till the state management find out how to do it like Sri Lanka and Thailand

Chutiyapa har jagah hai tourists palecs pe...even europe have pickpocketting issue. Crime is everywhere and in compare to many places in US, central and south america goa is much safer but the reason behind goa's decline and loss of its vibes, charm is due to cheap mentality of crowd tourism and slowly increase of absurd mentality of both tourist, tourism operator, local people such as local taxi mafia etc. The unnecessary staring and poor civil etiquettes make it worse. Bagha and calungute already lost its charm and they are not enjoyable places. Slowly it is spreading to other peaceful locations. Loclas are becoming unwelcoming. Two vehiler person will cheat taxi person will cheat , homestay and hotel person will cheat. In this both local and outsiders involved. Goans becoming like tamilians who dont like anything other thier own type. Equally cheap crowd from NCR, adjoining Karnataka etc making it worse. Now adjoining state's people are coming in vans with stoves and ruining places and vibes by cooking on beaches, near nature rich places and even near waterfalls in south goa. irrelevant information. Its not the loss of mangroves that is reducing tourism. Its the rampant development of tourism villages into concrete and tar nightmares, destroying the original Goa 'charm'. Other reasons include the overpriced taxis, too many shacks on the beaches, migrant and local scamsters, and the club bouncer mafia
Due to COVID-19, the already declining population of Western countries declined further because of COVID-19 deaths. In contrast, India's growing population saw a higher birth rate during the lockdown. Secondly, the Indian population began to value life and started taking holiday breaks. Unfortunately, this coincided with the Goa tourism marketing team's desperation to revive tourism, which led to promoting "cheap alcohol" and attracting many local tourists. However, most local tourists lack civic sense and personal space concepts. Many have been witnessed harassing international tourists with perverse stares and forcing them to take selfies. Additionally, migrant touts from Rajasthan and Karnataka joined in harassing tourists near beaches and other areas frequented by international visitors. It's not that locals dislike local tourists, but rather the increase in cases of drunk driving, reckless behavior, and women's safety concerns. Furthermore, local tourists investing in real estate threatens the hospitality industry. Corruption has also fueled the holiday home real estate mafia.
We have been coming to Goa for the last more than twenty five years. With the allowing of shops on the ground floor of multi-storied residential buildings, Goa's landscape is becoming eye hurting. A microscopic minority of Goans have a false sense of superiority and arrogance . Some hoteliers discourage people from other states in giving hotel accommodation.People also need to improve their language skills in Hindi to address other people, like replacing shocking " Tu" word with " aap " ; and also soften their verbal communication skills in English ; which sounds hurting when semi-literate speak it. The use of the word " outsiders " for countrymen from other states is derogatory. Sikkim is a fine place to see how people accommodate tourists. Hotels and food have become expensive and the quantity of later has declined. Patron, please forgive me.
@CadetRaaj I agree with your point that using the term 'outsiders' sounds derogatory and unaccommodating towards our fellow countrymen, highlighting conflicts between locals and out-of-state residents. However, this has now become a universal issue with the terms 'migrants' vs 'locals.' . Regarding Sikkim, the notion sounds racist as it implies that high tourism prices will limit experiences to the privileged crowd. What about lower-income fellow Indians wanting to vacation in Sikkim? . Furthermore, I disagree with granting superior respect to the Hindi language. India has ancient languages original to the land. If people from non-Hindi speaking regions accommodate Hindi during visits to Hindi-speaking areas without demanding respect for their language, the same acceptance should be reciprocated by Hindi-speaking regions.
@CadetRaaj Please don't apologize. I still belong to a world where interaction between two humans can be sensible, without defensive or offensive reactions. Communication is what propels humans to the next step of evolution.

Ill tell you 3 main reason. 1) Goa is getting over populated now unlike before 2) Increase in crime rate like Robbery, r@pe cases. 3) rise in polution..
Now where are goans in goa? Most of the natives goans have migrated to other countries an more then 60% who are in goa now are not native goans. Take the example of this Rajesh Kale deputy Director of tourism is he a goan? Definitely not.
Human history is a history of migration. How many Goans are working in the IT Sector in Bangalore? They also migrated to Bombay, now Mumbai for greener pastures.
@CadetRaaj the question here is tourism an not of migration. For tourism industry to run in proper direction there should be locals in these trade to promote goa an goan culture. But as far as goa is concerned there are mostly non goans in this trade who's main aim is to earn more money an not to promote tourism they only see how much they will profit from tourism.
@@Myworldisgoa You raised the issue of 60% of Goans having migrated to other countries. They have also migrated to Karnataka and Maharashtra for better employment and livelihoods. What you are claiming is based upon any authoritative study ? If so, what are the reasons for this situation?

Are you saying that the whole AirBnB concept is illegal in Goa? Can you please provide a source for that statement?
@@anthonyrodrigues9710 Very well explained. That should clear their doubts.

The decline in tourism in Goa cannot be solely attributed to either locals or tourists. The primary issue lies in the lack of enforcement of stricter laws regarding cleanliness and ethical practices. This can be addressed if local authorities demonstrate the will to take action. irrelevant information.

However, this has now become a universal issue with the terms 'migrants' vs 'locals.'
.
Instead of visiting goa i suggest Konkan untouch beaches 😊 bring your stuff stay in Resort chillax mood
Resorts are also damaging

Thank you dear for highlighting our Goa's issue.
We are in deeply hurt and in trouble to see our greenery vanishing hour after hour. God save our Goa.

Bihar is much cheaper
Good vlog with authentic informations !! 👍
Goa is loosing charm to tourists due to various reasons :
(1) High cost, (2) Scammers, (3) poor infrastructure, (4) dirty surrounding, (5) rough behaviour locals etc. etc.
Wish government of Goa and locals should take proper measures to resolve all issues to increase tourist footfalls !!
They should also work on getting ola and uber over there.
Same is the situation of Uttarakhand
She talks like a funny KG class teacher😂
Thank you Madam ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Nice Explain 😊
The type of tourists Goa gets are hooligans and irresponsible tourists which we all Goans desist.
They come for cheap liquor and ogling on the beaches.
Well done, one chill place in India and that’s also gone now 👏👏👏
Well done 👌👌👌
ask the goan politicians if they understand the term sustainable tourism
NO. Kindly explain
How are mangroves related to tourists numbers?
Misleading description.
Ill tell you 3 main reason.
1) Goa is getting over populated now unlike before
2) Increase in crime rate like Robbery, r@pe cases.
3) rise in polution..
Russian and Israelis r the major tourist both the countries are impacted
This had to happen
Many Israelis are leaving Israel and escaping to Cyprus. But tired of typical Israeli arrogant behaviour, the local Cypriots are fighting back....
Goa is becoming another north Indian State carbon copy in terms of vibe
Because of Sanatanis
Mapsua is Turning into a slum now with illegal migrants sheltering roadside ... Goa's charm is lost
Very true.
This will be helpful for revival of natural ecosystem of Goa
Goa needs Quality tourists over Quantity says Tourism Minister. Best thing that ever happened to Goa.
Goa is Paradise
@@Myworldisgoa
You raised the issue of 60% of Goans having migrated to other countries. They have also migrated to Karnataka and Maharashtra for better employment and livelihoods. What you are claiming is based upon any authoritative study ? If so, what are the reasons for this situation?
@@CadetRaaj yes correct regarding migration, but native goans have migrated outside India an not to karnataka an maharashtra. Those who
have migrated to maharashtra and karnataka majority of them actually belong to those states only their ancestors came to goa in search of employment an now since mostly the IT sector have grown in those states they actually migrating back to their own states. Let me repeat to develop tourism in any states whether it is goa karnataka or maharashtra you require locals to be in the trade of tourism.
@Myworldisgoa
Just see the figure of young Goans employed in the IT sector in Bangalore, which was released by Karnataka chief minister about two/ three years back when his state people were being targeted in Goa, hinting of possible retaliatory action.
Nobody is coming to save Goa, Goa need to save by itself🙏
I got confused , what the topic was after listening to this .😮
Kudos to ThePrint for casting light on an issue more important than the 'tourist vs. local' tussle. Nicely done too
It is not just goa. Winter is supposed to be tourist season in north India also. But think of pollution level this days. I don't think it is advisable for anyone to visit.
This is happening in all tourist place in the hills or plains too.Sad😢
This episode has been an absolute delight, thanks KK for your splendid response. Great work and best regards. We look forward to more
This fucking bi+ch is taking about mangrove festival, not taxi mafia. What is so splendid about it?
Goa needs Quality tourists over Quantity says Tourism Minister of Goa.
Less the best
Thanks for putting out so much information also mentioning how we locals are fighting to save our land from illegal destruction. Deep down I'm crying remember how Goa used to be and only hope we can save this beautiful Gem. Rightly said that Goa is being destroyed by the people pretending to protect it.
Thank you for raising Goa's issues.
