I cried threw my project board away🥺 this was in 2004 or 2005? iPad came out in 2012. Wish I kept my project board and knew where to take my idea to! Even viewers know at that valuation, getting a shark on board for less than 10% or 5%/royalty deal, wasn't going to happen.
These replies understand he's got his $3.5 million in the bank ready to fulfill all the orders that come in after his infomercial.
The guy's pretty slick, take a second look at what else he's doing.
Companies go into the Shark tank because they need help, capital, funding. He's lazy.
the only thing he lacked was exposure - and he got it for free, as most of you saw.
The money in his bank account is giving him his valuation - his profit margin is terrible.
There's nothing proprietary about his product. He is not innovative, unique nor special.
that's why he's not touching the cash... It's keeping him solvent on paper. That's his entire value.
He's demonstrated that his marketing skills stink. He doesn't have a patent.
Once he spends that 3.5 million, he only gets 5% back?
There you go... That's his true valuation. $175,000.
The more he has, the more he can slime out of other investors.
His reputation is not being built on his profit margin or his ability to sell quality blankets.. he's relying on his ability to skank money out of people and put it in the bank.. that's the most valuation of his company.
Because his lack of marketing skills only brings back 5%.
Hollow fiber fill sleeping bag blankets don't cost a hundred bucks.
Bull crap. The zippers, hardware, sewing machines and labor because of them, cost the most on fiberfill sleeping bags.
      He's greasy.

You can WARM UP a car with just 2(!) of them.
So throw a bunch of them (and a lighter!!!) in your car and always have them with you!!!

Polyester DWR coated blankets. I would insert a Gore-Tex liner with 3M Thinsulate fibers or 800 fill power down.

One hundred dollars for a recycled plastic blanket?! I recently got a pure cotton blanket for £30.

Ok but cotton is not necessarily better specially in this case, plastic is much lighter and more durable and doesn't absorb water and its doesn't catch fiber. Also you can add many properties to polyester fibers. So for this specific usage, plastic is actually better choice.

Try sleeping in 5 degree weather with a cotton blanket. You will freeze and get sick. Cotton doesnt retain heat, it is for keeping you cool and absorbing your sweat.

How absolutely awful can a company be ran to make 5% profit on 8 million dollars

It is about structering the company to be sold... no one is in it for the long term or legacy anymore... It's all done on venture capital and everybody wants a quick buck!

The plastic bottle recycling comes in the sheath of the thing, that goes directly back in the trash.

Should have taken the deal with the two sharks. Grow, make more money and all is happy. They can probably also get his costs down and increase profits.
