  • I Played Elite Dangerous in 2024... Here's What Happened!
Never really stuck around long enough to learn the game, while the future of Elite Dangerous looks promising right now i will start to play this game more as it's a really cool game with alot of things to do.
Elite Dangerous is the definitive massively multiplayer space epic, bringing gaming’s original open world adventure to the modern generation with a connected galaxy, evolving narrative and the entirety of the Milky Way re-created at its full galactic proportions.
Starting with only a small starship and a few credits, players do whatever it takes to earn the skill, knowledge, wealth and power to survive in a futuristic cutthroat galaxy and to stand among the ranks of the iconic Elite. In an age of galactic superpowers and interstellar war, every player’s story influences the unique connected gaming experience and handcrafted evolving narrative. Governments fall, battles are lost and won, and humanity’s frontier is reshaped, all by players’ actions.

You did ok for someone who has never played before, small tip, if you put a fuel scoop on your ship don't put it in the 1 slot, it's pointless, you would be better of sacrificing cargo space and useing a higher grade scoop especially if your only doing courier jobs at the moment, one more thing that will help you open up your galaxy map, on the left side go down to route settings and set it to Fast Route, your journey will be much quicker. I have subscribed and am looking forward to seeing more Elite videos from you.

Oh awesome tips, I had no idea about the fuel scope slot. I have to look into that! Yep I’ve actually found the fast route settings, I’m to scared to use it though, I don’t want to get stuck in space :-). Can you reproach a planet (if you accidentally overheated your ship) to refuel again?
Thanks for subscribing, means a lot! More videos are planned, a new one is coming up tomorrow. Bare in mind, that was recorded a few days back, so the advice I just got may not apply :-)

@@Bapziif you have fuel scoop you don't have to be scared. Even if you don't have enough fuel for your next jump, just jump to the nearest system with a fuel star (types O, B, A, F, G, K, M are all scoopable), which you can see on the galaxy map, or on the notification when you charge fsd.
Also I would advise you to not minmax, or you will burn out pretty quickly. Take your time, find out which job or profession suits you the best.
Deadly Bounty hunter? Calm Miner? Ruthless Pirate? Clever Trader? There's a lot and I mean *A LOT* of ways to get money in this game, each with their own sets of advantages and disadvantages, that doesn't require you to grind anything.

    • @Bapzi
      @Bapzi  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@NietoKT oh, so if I use fastest route I would end up at a fuel star if I set up the filter correctly?

    • @NietoKT
      @NietoKT 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BapziI haven't said that...
But you will see on the galaxy map where your fuel will end (dashed line instead of solid) and you will have the last fuel star marked with... Well, a marker, with a four-arm star and a fuel drop on it. So if you plan your journey correctly you won't be left stranded...
And if you do, look up the nearest systems, one of them should have a fuel star. If it won't tho, look up "fuel rats".
But tbh in my 800-ish hour journey with elite I didn't have to call them, so I would say that there's usually a way that doesn't include calling them 😉

Beautiful work on cuts, no boring details. But I would suggest few ideas to enjoy the game as I can't play it for about a month and I resorted to watching others:
    * pick multiple missions, not just one. I find 5-8 is a solid number
    * when you enter the system, honk and then do FSS; plenty of good starter money
    * some planets will have life on it; buy Artemis suit, exo-biology is worth a *lot* more than missions
    * don't pick money rewards only, mix it with materials; you will need them later
    * install Icarus terminal if you have spare laptop
    * buy SRV; when you land to investigate some POI signal, there might be some scavengers wanting the same loot; SRV just maws them
    * if you can afford: buy HOTAS. It makes it so much better, you truly feel like a captain of the ship
And enjoy the game, do not grind. E:D is truly an amazing game if not rushed, although very hard to learn.

Near star, when you pass the yellow border line (called exclusion zone...) ship will drop out of cruise. Then you need to get back into cruise first via the "escape vector" just point the nose of ship to it and throttle up. Ship heat will slowly damage components and hull in time. Just don't go into star exclusion zone.

Well done commander. I enjoyed your first foray into this excelent game/sim, and yes, there's a wee bit to learn, but it's worthwile. Stick at it. Of course, there's lots and lots of help out there and some 'essential' tools that will make your experience so much better. A fast route to making lots of money early on is via the 'tourist runs' - a good one is the Robigo run to the Sirius Atmospherics tourist beacon in Sothis. There is a requirement, when upgrading components, to head out and find planets with resources (again, lots of help out there), and you'll be spending a fair bit of time doing that if you're looking to upgrade certain components early on. Players not suited to this game will call this aspect a 'grind', but it's part of the experience and the majority of players have no issue with this. Remember, you don't need to upgrade components to enjoy the game, though you will eventually want to. Beware - there are a lot of braindead trolls out there looking to trash anything to do with Elite, lol.
Looking forward to your next releases. Subbed.

Haha, I was actually reading abit about passenger missions last night, I will have to read more about it!
I did hear about a grind, not too worried about that though. As long as I’m enjoying myself, and not making the game a chore it’s all good :-). And I guess you could potentially “grind” things in more than one way?

@@commanderclueless5456 That sure is a lot of hours. Like most players, the last time I 'invested' money in FDev was when I upgraded to Odyssey. Yes, it is a 'live service' - but that is the multiplayer option. No different really to any multiplayer game, most of which have a finite time expiry before the server is switched off.
I get why genuine players might be frustrated with FDev, but understand that that's primarily a player expectation of what the game should be. The primary issue there, of course, is that good will/free updates can't happen forever, clearly. I assume you agree? - and if you do and you still don't like ED as it is then perhaps it's time to move on?
I, and I'm sure most genuine players, would have no issues any worthwhile 'major' update of ED...but yes, only if there's no major bugs.

It's bassically virtual border for your on-board computer, which tells it to drop you out, so you don't fly into the star. Brown dwarf (i think this was the star here) looks like gas giant, but isn't one. It's something between star and planet, but game treats it as if it was a star... You got to close to the brown dwarf star and dropped out of supercruise which is why you started to overheat. The first time that happened to me my hull was down to 3% before I was able to reenter supercruise. LOL By the way the options on the game allow you to custom configure controls for docking if you need to. The hardest part about docking for me was trying to memorize where the landing pads in the large stations are at as the compass is inadequate when the landing pads are close to the entry port which most people in game call the mail slot. If you use your 70% thrust key when your approach time drops to 7 seconds you will not over shoot the station and do a loop of shame. If you use your 50% thrust key when your distance to a planet drops under 1Ls you will not get pulled out of supercruise on planetary approaches unless you are heading straight down on a high G planet.

    • @Bapzi

Yep, you got a little too close to the star. Those Y-class stars are almost like traps, the point where you get pulled out is a lot further away than with brighter stars. Equipping and using a heat sink will help you avoid damage due to overheating at such times. (it'll also make a hostile ship loose its lock on you). I suggest checking out the exploration tools in the game, charting star systems and mapping planets can be a low-risk way to earn money early on!

From the title, I thought you were a returning player and when you said 1.5 hours I thought... "Is that all??"
But hey, for day one that ain't bad! You were using your power distributor pips 10 hours before I figured out what they did. Docking gets much easier as you learn. It's faster and safer to do it yourself rather than trust in the computer - at least for small to medium size ships.
Don't worry about money too much. Just take the setting all in and learn at your own pace, the money will come by itself. It's extremely easy to make hundreds of millions per hour if you need to and you have the right ship for it - but there's not much to spend all that on except more ships. Many players fall into the trap of looking up the quickest way to get into the biggest ship and find they have no idea what to do with it once they get there.

a tip i can give you is make sure you always get a fuel scoop (you go near star and it refuels your ship) also when you equip a module in most cases you will have these letters after a module let me explain them: E is the basic stuff you get when you buy a ship, absolutely horrible so change it quick, D is pretty bad stat wise but is the best in term of mass (less mass more jump range, except for the frame shift drive here get an A class), C is useless, it's less expensive than B and A but is pretty terrible get class D if you can't afford A or B, B is a bit worse than A but is extremely heavy. @Bapzi if you're in danger of getting interdicted (ie you can't break it) then 'submit' to the interdiction (fly straight and level, cut throttle and quickly lock in anywhere you can jump to) as soon as the interdiction completes hit your throttle and boost while putting yourself on a vector to your new jump point. @@BapziWhen you land there are 2 main indicators, the panel where you see your ship and the landing spot and the 2 blast doors thingies. If you are landing from the wrong direction your landing indicator panel will show your ship going inverted, e.g if you move forward it will show you moving backwards. I don't know if that makes sense. The 'blast doors' are supposed to be behind you, so if you see them you are facing the wrong way. @@Bapzi I love that you replied! It’s something that just really sticks out: people using phrases that don’t fit.
“I’m not going to lie” when there’s no temptation to lie. “To be fair” when it’s not anything to do with fairness. “I’m just going to go ahead and…” with absolutely every move. “At the end of the day” when it’s not about the end of anything. “Literally” for anything that’s not literal.
I love that you’re discovering Elite on your stream and letting people see your mistakes. If I were to offer any advice: don’t blame the game for anything (even when it’s the game’s fault, which it is, like often!) because it gets tiresome. Very quickly.
But overall, I’m keen to see your videos about Elite ongoing. It’s nice that you looked into it a bit and found out things like the Scoop and Auto Pilot. But it’s not so good that you then complained over and over about how hard it was to land. Try both: the auto landing thing can be fun if used in less obvious ways (only turn it on when you’ve got *inside* the station internals, or very *near* the landing pad. Same with Super Cruise Assist: you can use it to get places *really* fast!

Shame it is a mile wide and an inch deep.......almost every content drop is just the most basic thing they can do...Rinse and Repeat missions. Half the mechanics in the game do not work or have so little impact that they are ignored. The community that played this and made their own content is the only thing that kept this going. Now even the "old" guard fanboys are sick and tired of Frontiers Bullshit.
