My name is Mark and I'm a middle aged (old) gamer doing let's plays of games I'm playing, some old and some new. I've found that recording and sharing game play video is fun, and makes the games I play even more enjoyable. 8:10 finding objects is like 100 times faster and much less using luck by shooting a few probes on it while approaching with the DSScanner ;)
12:12 you just need to find seperate ones (that are not grown in the same patch), it's never 500Km, 500 meters maybe

instasubbed!! Thanks for this. I'm coming back to this game after 2 years away. I was 400hrs in on my ps4 save but now I'm starting over on pc with odyssey. I'm completely overwhelmed haha. I've failed 6 out of the last 7 surface salvage missions because I suck so bad at combat. It's pretty frustrating. Think I'm going to take your lead and do some scanning :)

little correction, you dont have to go 500km to find another strand, you find new samples when you travel farther than 500meters with an srv.
Some schoolin' for you on the metric system. The word for a unit of distance of approximately 3 feet is called a "metre", the mechanical device for measuring something is called a "meter".😁 I understand that it almost a foreign language, but hay... Love the vids. Keep them coming. Pete from Oz.
I'm still new to game, jumping back and forth between tutorials and gameplay, I'm not sure if I missed something but I only started with 1,000 CR. Did I miss a step?
Nice vid but you're not dragging me back in there...I left a billionaire drifting out in the back a year or so ago after the grind just got too much!
I agree... might be worth watching but not getting back into the game. TBH, I'm pretty sick of the dev's attitudes.
@@monkeybarmonkeyman Did you see they wiped weekly progress as part of the 'design'? I just ignore it, I think the game can still be fun, but I'll get bored in a month or so. I think I startup Elite every winter and drop it by spring.
@@Tolakram Good golly no! I think that's kinda crazy... not everyone is up to restarting again, again and again... Its why I tend to fall back into NoMansSky where I have a what, nearly 700 hour game that's still playable!
I just started playing this game again after a year of not playing because I grabbed a VR headset. It makes it a whole new game and experience. I suggest you guys trying it.

I loaded ODYS on to a really fresh account. After the tutorial I am where I left off in the Aulin system. Can I do all of this from my current position?
I've been thinking of buying Odyssey while it's on sale. Exploration is the majority of what I do.
I got the dlc for less than $11 on G2A (GLOBAL) key. I mean the dlc was on sale for a little more like a couple weeks or so. But I got it and I had to restart 3 times bc I messed up so many times
EDIT: the dlc was on sale on steam a couple weeks ago or so
You don't want to get to zero for speed , trust me on this ! Sounds like he may have some inside knowledge .
I played this game for years since it dropped on Xbox. Moved to PC when I picked up a VR set, but stopped playing when Odyssey dropped. I'm an explorer by trade and not interested in the Thargoid gameplay at all. As far as I'm concerned, if I wake up and my station is burning and closed, I'll just go back to bed till it's over lol. This gameplay looks interesting. I like the simple and calm exploration of the planet and searching around in the SRV to gather samples not to mention, the payout was awesome.
I'm a merchant. Traded for around 9 billion , grinded for all materials, and now I'll explore some 😊.
I personally prefer to do on foot combat to get the money for a krait to outfit for bounty hunting or a python for mining.
I wonder how Star Citizen will implement scanning. That ship recall looks pretty awesome.
They just do with A Device you can Get and Place it around the Point
I usually set the auto dock but manually fly through the slot. Then throttle down and the auto dock will finish the landing.
Does this still work? edit: it does! needs a fresh odyssey character. I tried one that had gone through horizons ship tutorial before i bought odyssey and it only gave me 1000 to start. erased that, skipped odyssey on foot and horizons ship tutorial and it gave me 250k to start and get the artemis suit right away.

So did I just buy a copy of elite dangerous odyssey for nothing cause I want to switch to pc and the portal to transfer is not available it says at this time or am I doing something wrong
They ended the full transfer window. The only message they've given since is a more limited version will be available in 2023.

You are in Legacy mode, unless you transferred to the PC. The Legacy start is the same as in my previous series. There's a link (card) in the video that points to it. Ship combat and road to riches (scanning planets) is still the best money for Legacy.
The cheapest way to get playing the proper full version of Elite Dangerous: get yourself a GeforceNow account and stream from the best PC hardware possible. Your home internet connection will need to be more than 80Mbps downstream and more than 20Mbps upstream. You will also need to buy Elite Dangerous from either Steam or Epic Games store, but it’s pretty cheap.
Then transfer your Xbox game over to the PC; this ensures all your money and achievements move across. They’re copied, so you could still in theory continue playing on the Xbox if you end up not liking the PC experience.
This is how I’ve been playing Elite Dangerous Odyssey for the past 6 months, and it’s been rock solid. I use an nVidia Shield TV Pro to access GeforceNow, which means I get full Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos to my LG OLED CX, with Ultra settings, maximum LoD distance, full 4k and at 120fps. I use an Xbox controller to play, but have a Bluetooth keyboard on hand if I want to be typing in ED Chat.
With GeforceNow, you can play from any device that runs Windows, MacOS, iPadOS, iOS, Android, AndroidTV… and possibly some I haven’t yet checked.

I would play Odyssey, I do own it, I just cant run it. 13fps on stations plus some crackly audio, and surface outposts are even worse, aswell as when I do pvp its like 5fps
Is there anyway to convert it regular measurements? No one know what a "meter" is. 😀

It's easy...a metre is a yard plus about 3 inches. For space distances just knock off a third from the Kilometre distance to get miles distance...roughly, anyway.
A metre equals 3ft 3 it’s longer than a yard you see.
Well…. outside the United States, EVERYONE knows what a meter is. The only countries in the World still using the old Imperial System are USA, Myanmar and Liberia. American scientists use the metric system, including NASA. Elite Dangerous is a game about space exploration, so it makes sense everything is metric. And it’s set 1,286 years in the future, by which time, even non-scientists in the USA may have finally made the switch 😂

Engineering is a crime against humanity. One reason I usually stop playing. If they made engineering more fun I feel like players would return, but as it stands the grind and confusing nature of in game tools is a killer for fun.

lol, you can feel it pulling you back. Generally I agree, I just avoid most of the grind.
You don’t have to grind to enjoy a lot of the game. But it’s hard to resist the grind when you see players doing end game content with fully engineered ships.
There's a carrier in chamberlain named rs syndicate it has all the suites and weapons plus a big selection of ships for newbies. You should check it out
