I'm a 70 season Blades fan. I'm devastated by the news from Greece. George was an adopted Blade. One of my favourite players, beloved by us all, as he clearly was at all his clubs. He was what all supporters of all clubs would want to be, 100% commitment to the cause when playing and 100% ambassador for the club when not. Our Starman will be a sadly missed Blades (and clearly previous club) legend. There are no words but I think Mr Chairman gave a great tribute and heartfelt condolences to all the right people from all the fans. RIP Starman. God bless and support those he left behind.
George baldock. Buckinghams greatest role model. Forever loved, always adored! Wherever you went you was welcomed with open arms. We will miss you dearly. The perfect gentlemen on and off the pitch! We will all be there to say goodbye for now george but not forever! You will always be with us!
As a Blade who has seen him be one of the key parts of our success, I'm sad beyond words. He was a terrific player who would run through a brick wall for the team. All the tributes from his friends on Instagram are heartbreaking.
What a lovely tribute from Pete . It seems George was just as popular down south as up here in Sheffield and that is no surprise. A true pro , a perfect role model . Kids if you want to be a footballer then be like George and you won't go far wrong. Such a horrendous loss, this is going to take some time to sink in. Cant imagine what his family is going through . RIP STAR MAN !😢
George was massively popular at Sheff Utd because he always gave 100% every single match, so much feeling for Sheff Utd and the fans, he was one of those who would punch the air like a lunatic after a win, looked so sad and angry after a defeat however (even after a bad defeat) he'd always go over to clap the fans home and away. So much character and desire to win, he was exactly the type you would want in the trenches facing battle. Regards passion for Sheff Utd and setting a good example he was up there with Billy Sharp, however BS was a big Sheff Utd fan where George was a southerner but he played like he was a fan and became an adopted Sheffielder. An example of the love and respect for him from Blades is when he refused to sign a contract at SU and this Summer choose to play for Panathinaikos in Greece there was no jealousy or negativity, he left us with a hug and genuine best wishes.
So emotional but yet thankful of the one and only Starmann on the wing. Once a blade always a blade. He gave everything he had for us S.U.F.C fans. I cried when I laid flowers and a card at the Lane yesterday. A 48 year old man crying. That's how much we respected and appreciated him. Fly high my hero.
Very Nice tribute Mr Chairman. Big respect from a Blade of almost 60 yrs. All the very best to the Baldocks.
