I worked at IBC Studios in London in the mid 1970's - we had a room with the actual plates in them (I think we had 2 plates which were long box type things) and then mixed that sound with an actual tape delay loop.

EMT 140 was a well known plate reverb which is pretty much what you were describing at the beginning. Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon used that particular plate. LOOOVE the sound of the reverb on that album!

I don't think I'm a plate guy, but I can't wait to try rolling of the low frequencies on my room reverb (I mostly use the "Hansa studio" preset in Logic's Space Designer). I always equate reverb with mud, this may be the cure! Thank you.

Assuming you use the HPF to reduce muddying in the reverb, If you use a plate reverb on an acoustic guitar am I right in saying that using the Fat Channel HPF at 200 ultimately takes the bottom end off the guitar which is then loosing too much of the bass?

      Sure. The buildup was just a fully diminished chord (notes: A C Eb Gb A C Eb Gb) followed by Esus (E A B) then E2 or maybe it’s E9 (E F# B) and finally E major (E G# B)
