love the fact that you show the old way first before reflecting the new way with the new function using IFS

Cool, this is the function I am most looking forward to out of all of the new ones you have demonstrated so far. I nest IF functions like mad, and this will simplify things for me.

+Clint Gubich , I love to hear that! Just out of curiosity, whet do you nest? test? Numbers? Rates? Formulas? Ranges?

    • @clintgubich1828

+ExcelIsFun Returning percentages based on tiers, some very similar to your example in this video at 6'38". Others where VLOOKUP would work, but where it is not viable to have a lookup table on the spreadsheet. In the past, some of those tiers went 10 deep.
The IFS function is much cleaner, and will make reviewing those formulas much easier.

+Clint Gubich , Oh.... You should not use Nested If or IFS if you can use a lookup!!!!!! Lookup formulas are almost always more efficient (calculation speed and formula creation time). If the scenario fits the lookup algorithm, then rather then build an IF with values hard coded into the formula, you can hard code the lookup table into the formula. In the next video about SWITCH I show exactly how to do this. Next video should help augment this video about IFS!
How is reviewing the formula easier with IFS or Nested IF? Is it that the logic can be seen explicitly?

Mike, thanks! a very useful piece. have to come back review it so many ties because I can''t remember every the scenarios... thanks for putting it here

You are welcome! Thanks for your consistent support : ) BTW, one of the reasons I post such through videos with notes and examples, is because I, like you, can't remember most of this stuff, so it is nice to have it all saved online so that I can look it up !!

+Michael Gowlett Yes, it is nice to remind how we did it, and then look at how we might now do it differently!

I need help with a Nested IF formula.
If Date1 = Date1 + 7 days and Date2 is Blank, then "Return Window Closed",
      If Date1 < Date1 + 7 days and Date2 is Blank, then "Awaiting Return"
if Date2 is not Blank then "Return Received".
If Date1 and Date2 is Blank then show nothing on the cell.

    Hello,
Is there a chance one could help with the following:
Imagine I have the following conditions:
If one has worked for the business less than 3 months, one gets not sick pay,
if one works for the company more than 3 months, but less than 12 months, then one gets 2 weeks full sick pay,
If one works more than 12 months, one gets 5 weeks full sick pay.
Can you help me understand how to express this using the excel 2016 functions. Thanks very much.

HELLO SIR! Im emilio, im from cuba, big fan! i have a question: im looking for a function that can meet this requirements: if I "plug in" a: letter , number and a letter (M100A. or any combination like this) it would return a value, now, the value that it would return it would depend on the three values, example: M100A returns something, and M200B something different. This is what i got so far: =if(B11="M"
