This is why I don't have children it's so hard to trust another partner to not completely abandon you especially as the female in this country. The cost of a child today is astronomical. The current system is built to keep these guys barely scraping by and one slip up and it's prison repeat.

It may take a few months or even years to finally be able to leave, but it can be done, even by someone that is poor. I speak from experience. If you want it bad enough, you will find a way!
I say file a child support case because you have her full custody this way you have money for your daughter it would really help. I don't know how it works in Chicago with court visitation etc

As a single mother of a 12 year old divorced I started looking after my son from 6 year old went back worked two days a week. Now I’m full time and he is much older. I have my son week on week of. I want to say you are an inspiration to be trying so hard working so hard and basically looking after your little 2 year old- children at this age are full on . You are amazing such an inspiration head up high!
This guy is amazing not only did he manage to get off of all of his issues and deal with that but he stood up for his daughter and takes care of his daughter when the mother obviously wants nothing to do with her this guy is great he deserves a break he really does

To others saying sue the mom for support ...imo, the problem with suing the mom for child support is that then the mom would likely insist on visitation just for spite ... and that would not be beneficial for the daughter. Could actually be very dangerous for her, given how the mom is. Maybe look into having the mom TERMINATE her rights ... he might be eligible for outside support, depending on the programs in his area. This dad is amazing and so is his support network.
Everything you wrote is perfect. She isn't going to be paying regardless of an order. The court would give her break after break and drag it out while she goes unpunished. Then, she will use visitation or an attempt at custody to make things hurt him. He'll lose time from work to attend court and it will be one frustration after another.

That’s true but it doesn’t excuse this child mother disgraceful selfish behavior which is the same thing I would say when the father’s behave the same way. Parents regardless if they are together, were married, ect, parents need to work together . Do not beg her to see her kid and to put in the work. Put her in child support or go through the court. That’s the only way you’ll get the help you need....at least financially
Not really. Child Support isn’t a priority here and the men I’ve known who had joint legal, he had full physical custody just got blown off by the Child Support Unit when they called to report they weren’t getting CS-and that was after they were given a verbal beat down because the workers just assume the father is the “deadbeat.” The default seems to be they get joint Legal, she gets physical custody. We really, really, really, really need to re-visit our inherent legal bias regarding females as “better” parents: Like hell they are.
While I on one level I applaud his effort to be present for his daughter the simple fact is that he can barely afford to take care of himself. That, coupled with a loser egg donor of a mother is a recipe for disaster. Either take the mom to court and get child support or put daughter up for adoption and get on with your life. I know, that would be tough but it would give you and the daughter a chance for a better life. Good luck.

Mom needs to provide child support so he can have a steady sitter and his daughter will have care while he’s at work since she doesn’t want too.

That’s true but it doesn’t excuse this child mother disgraceful selfish behavior which is the same thing I would say when the father’s behave the same way. Talking about the other mothers and how they doing the right thing and doing this or doing that doesn’t do this precious little girl any good. Those other women are not her mother.

Parents regardless if they are together, were married, ect, parents need to work together . Do not beg her to see her kid and to put in the work. Put her in child support or go through the court. That’s the only way you’ll get the help you need....at least financially
Not really. Child Support isn’t a priority here and the men I’ve known who had joint legal, he had full physical custody just got blown off by the Child Support Unit when they called to report they weren’t getting CS-and that was after they were given a verbal beat down because the workers just assume the father is the “deadbeat.” The default seems to be they get joint Legal, she gets physical custody. We really, really, really, really need to re-visit our inherent legal bias regarding females as “better” parents:

While I on one level I applaud his effort to be present for his daughter the simple fact is that he can barely afford to take care of himself. That, coupled with a loser egg donor of a mother is a recipe for disaster. Either take the mom to court and get child support or put daughter up for adoption and get on with your life. I know, that would be tough but it would give you and the daughter a chance for a better life. Good luck.
The mother doesn’t want the kid; it’s obvious she dumped her on him so she wouldn’t have to deal with her anymore. Absolute trash at it’s finest. The little girl is better off without that woman in her life. Kudos to the dad for being a responsible father.

In my state you can go to the Friend of the Court and work out a child visitation that becomes court ordered.

It should be mandatory for “mothers” like her to either have a five year implant or to have their tubes tied! Having children should be a privilege you prove yourself for, not a freedom. It’s not fair to the children. It usually results in them growing up to repeat the cycle too. 😢
