Hi, if you use a car charger with a 2.0/2.1A output, this will fully charge your Acer Liquid E700 while you are using your Acer TomTom app on the phone.

Thanks. You are right about that. I have been using an external battery ( Energizer XP18000 , I also use these to charge up my notebooks during long trips). The reason is: if I use the 12V cigarette output to charge a device that is connected to the AUX-in of the car radio, I get a ground loop "hum" in the sound. (This happens with any device, not just the E700, it is a car thing).
The XP18000 has 3 outputs with different voltages and purposes, but the USB 5V output seems to be limited to something lower than 2.0A, probably 1.0A.
So I prefer using the XP18000, because it easily keeps enough voltage to last a 12 hour driving day when used to power through USB.

I also got the exact update. It is unfortunate that they only have maps for Europe and Asia.

Hi JeromePOV, how's life in R'dam?
Would you consider a review about your PebbleWatch?
I also have the E 700 and consider buying the Pebble but would like more in depth user experience.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!!

Hi! What case do you use to protect this phone?

    • @JeromesPOV
      @JeromesPOV  9 ปีที่แล้ว

None. I just keep it in my front pants pocket or jacket pocket. I considered buying one of those silicone ones (there are a lot available now), but decided not to buy, because it makes the phone bulkier and more difficult to get in and out of the pocket, because it is rubbery.
There are also nice book-style cases (amazon.es, amazon.de, ebay), but also: these make the phone a lot thicker than what I like.

JeromesPOV Yes you're right, cases make it look bulkier, but I just need it since I really need to protect my phone.thanks for replying.

You know when the android 4.4.4 will be out for this phone?

Bobby de Kok I have no idea. I read here ( www.androidpit.com/android-4-4-3-android-4-4-4-updates ) that apart from some Nexus and Motorola models very few phones (from all brands) are getting 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 updates.
Since the Acer E700 is quite new (available from late August + with 4.4.2), I am sort of expecting a Lollipop update at some point from Acer. So far, Acer has been updating the firmware quite loyally. Also the E700 runs almost stock Android, meaning the Acer skin is not annoyingly different from stock Android.

Please do a review on the latest firmware update. My phone is currently on "024" build number. And I have system update. I'm scared to try it out since it might black out my phone. Thanks

+Lhets Reyes Hi, I have installed the latest firmware about 10 days ago. My E700 is now on "026". I have not encountered any problems. Also not any shocking new features or software for that matter.
Android is still on 4.4.2. (So no Lollipop.)

+JeromesPOV Thankyou. I updated my phone already. And it's on '032'. Nothing drastic changes. Just some fixes on apps problems mostly. :)

Regarding this update sir, have you noticed any issues so far?
And I'm also curious in asking this question, if I will do an OTA upgrade then something goes wrong (stuck on boot and etc.) Will my warranty save me from the trouble if I go to the service center?

No, Acer Nav (TomTom) (unlike e.g. Google Maps) is completely off-line capable. Of course you will need to download the maps at home first.
The only limitation that I found is that the map for Western Europe is missing from Acer Nav on the E700.
With TomTom, this means that you cannot easily do cross-border navigation. So e.g. Benelux is included (NL-BE border is no problem). But Germany and France are separate maps. So as soon as you cross the NL-DE border, you need to switch maps to continue navigating. Same for the Belgium-France border. That is a typical TomTom limitation (if the Western Europe map is excluded)
