The funny thing is that most writers who try to do Superman think he needs to be massively flawed, edgy and out of controll. Which is why you get stuff Injustice Superman or Zack Snyder's interpretation.
And I personally hate when Superman is written like that (Red Son, Invincible and the Boys I'd say are the exception because they make it compelling). Give me more stuff like All-Star Superman, Superman Vs the Elite, Alan Moore's "For The Man That Has Everything", Justice League, etc.

    19:20 my theory:
Ben doesn’t have the best idea on who the faces are, he’s going on 60 aliens now… how often do you think he looks in the mirror to see their faces in alien form? 🤔
Atleast with the holograms he could see the bodies, we can see our bodies without a mirror. 😳and he had a lot of time to get used to the 10 silhouettes in classic….
crazy theory but I don’t think the writers would have taken all that into account 😂

THIS is how Ben should be written if we're talking about experienced Ben, I also like Kuro's idea of Ben learning to give up the idea of control in UA which is my personal headcanon for why he's so calm and fun-loving in OV he stopped caring about control and just goes with the flow and does what he believes Is right, despite all his perfection in the eyes of others he's still a kid who wants to have fun (unintentional theme song joke lol)

On the topic of the Proto Truck: I have a feeling the very thought out way it transformed was a skill learned from Transformers Animated, since that series also tackled vehicles that transformed (only with them becoming alien robots and not spaceships) and Derrick J Wyatt worked on both Transformers Animated and Ben 10 Omniverse. This could just be me drawing connections since I’ve been watching Transformers Animated as of late

A lot of the robots in TFA have very well-detailed transformations that the toys replicate 1-to-1, despite the challenges of adapting Derrick's sleek, streamlined style into plastic.

Superman is supremely misunderstood. The common moniker is that he's a god living among men and trying not to break them but it isn't even that much. He's just a guy trying to uphold the values his parents taught him and do good by serving as a symbol to inspire people to be their best selves because he truly believes there's good in everyone. He's incredibly and has had to learn a lot over the years and is constantly having to balance what he CAN do vs what he feels he SHOULD do to serve as a symbol of hope. In all this he has to interact with so many different hero and human idealogies, navigate politics, deal with massive space plots concerning his origins, and just in general encounter threats far FAR above his paygrade.

Especially in his third iteration. This is the closest we will probably ever get to ben right before he becomes adult ben 10k. At this point his problems should shifting more so to the problem we see ben 10k face. Like that one classic episode where we see that ben10k sucks ass at managing his lifestyle. After going through so much, character growth should have been given. Giving him a newbie partner that has to see how ben 10 operates is a good way of keeping some sense of status quo just through rook not ben. After that tho they should have shown how actively ben helps people instead of just "beat x bad guy". Which they actually do show here and there. In this stage ben 10's mature enough to make more significant changes, like he did with the hybrid in AF. As well as living up to the expectation of the "universe saving hero". We also see him get arrogance from it, but you could easily show what it's like when he doesn't meet up to those expectations and how kind of past that ben should be. Show ben come to terms that even with all his powers he's still human, he'll still fail sometimes. Omniverse is probably my favorite out of prime ben, but it still had so much potential. I think that's why ben 10's fanbase never dies. There's so much there that never got fully utilized so as a community we discuss these things to get them out there. Like imagine if as kuro said ben 10 had started to evolve undertown, and in the season or series finale that came altogether into undertown helping him after realizing all that he did for them. I feel like at this point ben should be like superman. He's uber powerful and fully developed as a character, but he still has to keep sticking to his values to change the world around him. He still has growth, but it isn't the same old lessons, it's lesson that are more in the grey area. Lessons that are more real and well human. He faces situations where his godlike abilities won't do anything, his humanity and experience as a hero will.

I kinda take Ben’s initial unwillingness to try to change forms after a mistake as him worrying about the larger issue. He can’t trust the Omnitrix rn to give him the form he wants (it can still be learning about Ben which is why it gets better later) but it can also run into problems where he can turn into Way Big in a narrow alley or get into an argument with Alien X after changing into molestache. Given him not fully knowing what would happen and the possible problems if he tries in the heat of battle he tries to make do with the form he gets and banks on a short transformation window for a better chance to try again.

Lodestar, Spidermonkey, all but one Andromeda Alien, Clockwork. Besides the new OV aliens he’s used almost all UAF aliens which makes sense since even after reunlocking everything he’d rarely use any classic aliens. The only Classic aliens he’s used so far has been Cannonbolt and Heatblast which UAF Ben did frequently use. Has been doing an excellent job continuing from UAF since younger viewers likely wouldn’t have ever seen Classic and wouldn’t recognize any aliens Teen Ben hasn’t used.

I personally think that going back to the status quo is part of Ben's personality.
I met many people, including me, that are that way in some things.
I broke up with my best friend because he was very violent, he proposed to change, he did therapy, he did meditation, he realized how his attitude had ruined his life, he actually changed, and years later he was the same person again.
I don't think people don't change, but I do believe some people can't change. And Ben is only 16 years old, as much as he has saved the universe he doesn't have the mental maturity to change his way of thinking permanently. Especially since he never does it consciously. Whenever his personality changes it is because the universe needs it and not because he wants it.
He feels more like he knows how he has to behave in certain situations, but not something he really wants to do.

But later on its rook and whatever other help that ends up saving ben letting ben relearn teamwork without makin it feel like hes just egotistical but rather be more trusting of his new partner. Nezha himself could gain two other heads for a three head form, alongside having six arms.

Omniverse may be the most or secondmost rewatchable series because of the multiple stories it tells and it peaks so many characters before the end. It feels like this is a lets see how far we've come type of season in comparison to the others. Also, Fistrick at this point feels like a C tier enemy and then he becomes a high C, low B tier when hes able to get off world. He has his own henchmen, his plans involve high tech, and he's a charismatic threat physically, then when he gets off world he is able to effect and entire society with what hes doing.

10:15 I think another way they could've written Ben's initial relationship with Rook is how he's struggling to adjust to being without Gwen and Kevin.
Maybe instead of having him be inexplicably stupid during the first couple fights, they could've shown how Ben isn't used to fighting on his own or with Rook yet. Like he leaves gaps in his attacks because he expects Kevin to charge in, or lets himself get hit because he's so used to having Gwen's shields there to protect him.
They could even play up Rook's lone wolf strategy, where he's very talented but because he's focussed on efficiency he doesn't communicate well enough with Ben and opts for more standard Plumber tactics.
To complete the arc, Ben acknowledge's that Rook might be able to fill the hole left behind by Kevin and Gwen and agrees to work with him. He'll help Rook get some field experience and loosen up, as long as Rook actually communicates his strategies to Ben.

It does a really good job of developing Ben and Rook’s growing dynamic and it was nice to see the Nosedeenians actually get a happy ending as opposed to their debut episode where they ended up imprisoned as part of a tourist attraction. One particular moment that stands out to me for some reason is when Rook initially shoots at Fistrick’s mech, but Ben stops him out of concern for the Megawatts. Though Omniverse has moments of portraying Ben less competent and/or more insensitive than I’d like, its episodes like this where he feels like the most balanced version of himself in terms of being a level-headed hero who seeks to do what’s right while also being laid back and snarky.

yeah its sadly something I saw in Pokemon, where Ash was inconsistent episode to episode sometimes arc to arc. It was also a big problem with dragon ball gt, where to make the villains a threat they had to nerf/weaken the main character. If Ben or any hero has become a more confident and competent hero, then make the bad guys or create bad guys that can challenge them or face them in different ways. Expand the universe, have other villains be like Psyphon and have them come back with counter measures for some of Ben's aliens. It always sucks when any show cartoon anime live action makes it's characters hold the idiot ball, or be the source of the morale of the story regardless of continuity or if it fits the character.

If we make comparisons to this episode with "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad Ben World." In that Ben is so immature, irresponsible and incompetent with the Omnitrix that it makes Ben 23 seem sensible and serious like AF Ben.

Im so glad this got a full breakdown, this has been my favourite episode of Omniverse for most of my time with the show. It gets Bens character right, it looks fantastic, the Megawats come back in a cool way, Gravattack is awesome´and Ben and Rook's partner relationship feels fresh and is written well.

1:11 I agree to an extent, if the power level the hero gets is measurable and atleast somewhat down to earth, like going from street to city power level, then I agree. But if it's something like Goku who is insane strong and there's barely any noticeable differences between his new and old opponents then nah it's boring. Like how much difference does it make if someone goes from universe to multi verse power level? Can you even showcase it in satisfying way?
I'd prefer if villains leveled up more in a thinking capacity and not just becoming God level strong or something

So Rook’s thing with never using contractions is something added in later but it’s played off as a thing that’s been there the whole time?
Heat Blast sounding like he has throat cancer is an interesting choice.
Ben being so far above the street level crime and even the criminals knowing it would be dumb to screw with him is a nice touch.
Also Rook said another contraction when he said “You’re welcome” after he saved Ben with the crane.

Edit: Also, I never picked up on how Rook doesn't use contractions, so my immediate thought when I saw that scene was 'why?'

@InevitableOption-ic2vx It is clear that you have not seen that show, since there Derrick J. Wyatt had no power in the writing team; In fact, Derrick J. Wyatt didn't like when the franchise involved real monsters and supernatural threats and tried to campaign for the removal of the central supernatural Myth Arc and return to the classic "unmask the criminal", but thank God it was overruled.
I mean, in "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" it has a lot of character development, the episodes are well connected to each other, and the supporting characters and families are very necessary; that is, the complete opposite of Omniverse.

If wet is defined as the ability to remove water from the surface of something then as long as you have enough water to form a layer 2 molecules thick in any direction, the water is, in fact, wet. So unless you are dealing with a single molecule of water, water is always somewhat wet.

Like it's mentioned below, I always thought Rook's use of contractions at the start of his partnership with Ben was an attempt to connect his new human partner whose species use contractions like they were going out of style, like his use of "Ben Dude" like he initially thought it was some sort of honorific Ben was insisting on. As their partnership deepened (and Rook lost his awe of Ben's "legend," admittedly) Rook reverted to his normal way of speaking as he became more comfortable on Earth even as he went "native" in other ways.
