Another great video! As much as you fish for bream and cichlids, I'd expect you to already have a few worm towers under your house. All you need is two 5 gal. buckets and a lid. Use the tiniest drill bits you can find to drill about 30 holes in the bottom of one bucket and about 10 holes in the lid for air. The red worms from Walmart will breed. Every 90 days the population doubles. They love coffee grounds, pure cornmeal (no leavening agents like baking powder or baking soda added), oatmeal, or any old vegetables or fruits (just freeze them first). Also, Old River in Concordia Parish has snakeheads. That'd be a fun video since they like non-moving water, frogs or ducklings, and they are super spooked...meaning lots of stealth and skill to catch.
I tried breeding worms once, it failed. I do want to try again. what do you use as far as bedding/soil that they live in.
@@PelicanBoneOutdoors with European nightcrawlers (what Walmart sells as red wigglers), I just toss in the dirt from the cans into a bucket with used tea and coffee grounds. Sometimes, I may add oak leaves or straw in the winter, but that is it. You just basically need two 5-gallon buckets. The top bucket has a lid with the tiniest holes you can drill on the lid (5-10) and the same holes in the bottom (20-30). Line the bottom with newspaper or such to make the worms hesitate before trying to get out. The bottom bucket catches all the water and any escaping worms. Throw that water away...don't use it when gardening. To feed them, just sprinkle a tablespoon or three of corn meal (without any rising agents). I'll sometimes take vegetable scraps and old fruit and freeze them before adding them to my worm bucket. The freezing breaks down the biomass as worms have an uncanny ability to grow and keep produce if you don't freeze it.

Some of our church friends went to lake Okeechobee last year and they caught a pile of Oscars we had a big fish fry they taste like blue gill to me

I grew up on the westbank and use to fish the twin canals as a kid and I have never caught a rio grand in the late 80s and 90s
The apartment complex I lived in, in Kenner, LA had lakes on the property we were allowed to fish. The lakes were stocked with a million of those rio grand cichilds. It was a great place to teach a kid how to fish. They would always be in pairs. If you caught one just cast back in that same spot and you would be guaranteed to catch another. I never tasted any but would give my aunt a cooler of these things and she swore they taste just like perch (bluegill for those outside of South East Louisiana).

Get some artifical micro craw baits, everything will eat a micro craw off its bed lol. And they arent messy like a live worm. Micro ned rig open hook style will do the trick or you can also use crappie baits in small minnow shapes.

let’s be realistic this is God’s country. If the animal can survive here it’s really not hurting us.
Be realistic and get actual facts before commenting. These fish are like other invasive species, they destroy and take over natural species habitat killing off species that are native to the area. This causes many issues including destroying natural habitat that keeps the other native species from having a home. I bet you wouldn't want someone taking your home, food and resources living you out in streets with nothing now would you.
It is when it's taking over our native fish territory and not letting them eat or produce. So quit hugging trees and learn something
@@chuckhansen5325 he doesn't understand that the balance is thrown off when someone introduces a species that nature didn't put there or ever intended to be there how devastating it can be on the natural order of things. It's called a non informed individual with very low education levels 😂.
