    Incase you’re wondering: yes I made this video yesterday, but ran out of time to upload it as I had to hit the road to make it down to Melbourne with enough time to grab lunch & then make it to the Regent Theatre for Sister Act. So instead it’s a Sunday upload! There will be a members’ video out later today, sharing about yesterday’s trip to Melbourne

    The pictured silo art is at Lameroo in SA on the Mallee Hwy, so this family would have driven through Ouyen to reach Hay. It isn't the national highway but I suppose their GPS told them slightly fewer km's travelled.

      Thanks! That’s even worse thinking of tourists driving overnight on a road that isn’t even the national highway! More roos, less traffic if you get into trouble!!

    CRICKIES! That was a exercise in frustration. Google's free and Australia isn't the USA. The lack of any plan or understanding was spectacular.

      It was rather mind blowing!!!

    G'day to the co-host! 🐶🐶
    First, we need to consider how much time off work back home was available to them for their Australia trip. Such a rush may indicate only one week available or two at tops.
    I visited Hay for my first time a couple of months ago, just for lunch and a look around. Lovely town, I got some cotton stuck to my car when I arrived. Hay is half way between Sydney and Adelaide, roughly 700km from each; but it is directly north of Melbourne and only 420km away. I hadn't realised it was 100km closer to home than what Mildura is. Agree with you on the motel, they should have booked in advance, that's what I do.
    At least they made a few sight seeing stops down the NSW coast and took their time a bit more which is the best way to do road trips. Unless you don't have the time I would drive a few hours then stop for the night. You can also check out the town that you stop for the night and treat as an attraction in itself.

    I saw this video. I too was astounded. They wasted their holiday not doing research and missed so much. Got to wonder too why they started and ended in Adelaide too. Weird choice to fly in to. Yep they were idiots so you werent being picky

    I watched this video a few days ago. I had the same thoughts as to driving straight though to Sydney. It is the mind set of visitors to this country that the only things to see in Australia is firstly Sydney, and then many be Melbin (proper spelling). All though for 20 years I was involved in off road racing and traveled all over Australia mostly at night, because we had to get to our destination by Saturday morning. OK I'm off topic. So, they traveled from Adelaide to Sydney then to Melbin, Why? What did they see, big cities, they might as well stayed home. As you keep saying, do your research, why would you no travel from Adelaide to Melbin and then to Sydney, more to see.

      Mel-bin 😂😂😂 yep!

    went to Hay once , the thing i noticed was all the crows fly backwards to keep the dust out of their eyes, dont worry about being a bit critical to these nongs who deserve some critism, if they had any sense they would avoid Stinkney and go straight to Melborrrrne

    • @CheekyKoala
      @CheekyKoala  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I’d avoid both & go to all the much nicer regional areas!! I think that I’ve been through Hay… that’s how memorable it is…

    The place does not look that dirty. Now we did turn up at an AirB&B and it was dirty, complete with someones washing line strung up, unmade bed and general grime. Turns out they forgot we were coming so we had to leave for a couple of hours and they cleaned the place. We had to leave a bad review not just for that but a bedroom window was broken where the mozzies could come in, there was a spiky plant at eye height by the front door and the main shower was super slippry and high with no rubber bath mat. Even my husband said he nearly slipped over and only grabbing the side saved him.

    • @CheekyKoala
      @CheekyKoala  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Wow! That sounds like an AirB&B to avoid!! The last one I stayed at wasn’t perfect, the shower leaked and it wasn’t what you would describe as being immaculate, but the owner was really lovely & it was still really cozy & well priced, so we were more than happy!

    The lack of planning, with a child is concerning. I thought it was just them, but there is a small child asleep in the back seat. If you want to just go from point A to point B, fly and save some time.

    • @CheekyKoala
      @CheekyKoala  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep, If it’s just adults travelling without planning ahead, that’s one thing, but, yes, you are so right, it’s just irresponsible doing so when you have a child with you!

    NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA, RAC, RACT and the AANT under the AAA (Australian Automobile Association) umbrella, provide road maps and travel advice for road trips so you don't have to wing it.

      Good point! I think that car rental companies should probably take more time with tourists like these to, at the very least, let them know how they can access such things before they set out. But at the end of the day, a bit of time spent on google will also allow people to make intelligent, informed decisions about their road trips!

    Parking bays and a swag, the cheapest way to travel.

    • @CheekyKoala
      @CheekyKoala  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Agreed! I spent many nights in parking bays during my last road trip! If you have what you need to get comfortable & you’ve actually planned to do so, a night sleeping in your car isn’t so bad! You wouldn’t want to do it every night, but it’s certainly not that bad to do in order to save on costs

    They went from Adelaide to Sydney and only stayed a day and then drove to Melbourne? That's weird.
    If I wanted to see those 3 cities I would fly to Sydney, stay a few days and then drive to Melbourne and then onto Adelaide. Or if they had a reason to go to Adelaide first, drive to Melbourne then Sydney.
