      I was! I realise that having originally lived in what is considered the friendliest state in Australia (Tassie), that there are probably a lot of things that I take for granted that are the norm (I still raise my hand to acknowledge the people on stop signs at roadworks here in Victoria & if they even notice it, for the most part they tend to look at me quizzically), but I guess it’s just so ingrained in me that you greet the driver as you get on & off the bus & that you know they will greet you back, I just can’t imagine hopping onto a bus & not having that happen!

    The problem with gun culture is it’s just embedded in the education system like the rest of the Constitution. Americans are brainwashed from a young age that they have civil rights and anything that takes that away is sacrilegious. The 2nd amendment had real meaning when it was legislated in 1787 in the days of the Wild West. In the mid 19th century Civil war too but in modern times? Firearms are just carried because most others have them. A really sad inditement on the US unfortunately. So many ridiculous cases of civil rights which bewilders Australians but unless someone doesnt grow up in the US they just don’t understand and that’s very hard matter for locals to get their head around.

      Perhaps it depends on which university you attended and which course you chose. At UTas where I completed both my degrees, it was definitely referred to in that way. For the most part this American vlogger has nailed it. To be honest I don't recall trying American bread. Apparently it's loaded with sugar. To avoid constantly paying 10-15% tips at proper sit down and waiter attended restaurants I mostly stuck with fast food restaurants like Maccas or road side restaurants where the Greyhound bus stopped for 40 minutes or so. I do remember Taco Bell in Colorado was awful. I tried Subway in Bratislava in Slovakia and it was okay. But they dont load the bread with sugar and chemicals. Have never tried emu, croc, 'roo or witchetty grubs. Venison in NZ was okay. Should have tried the moose and elk in Bergen, Norway. They also had whale meat, but as they're endangered I had fish and prawns instead. Coalfax Avenue in Denver Colorado was a rough part of town. I often crossed the street to avoid gangs of zombies high on ice standing around outside MacDonald's. For the first time ever I needed a voucher code to use the rest room. Apparently Maccas wanted to avoid any drug deals in the toilets from non paying customers. That's starting to creep in here in Australia as well. People with mental health problems, drug addictions, and guns are never a good mix. I always felt unsafe in any big city in America and was always looking over my shoulders and was acutely aware of my surroundings at all times.

    • @CheekyKoala
      @CheekyKoala วันที่ผ่านมา

      I thought that their bread must be loaded with sugar if he thought that a finger bun tasted like a hot dog bun, because finger buns are so very sweet!! Yes it’s a little concerning seeing the issues in Australia which are arising as a result of drug use! From looking at the traffic charges against Patrick Stephenson, (Samantha Murphy case), I wouldn’t be surprised if we discover during trial that he was on Molly at the time!! I’ve had venison, it didn’t excite me. I’ve heard that moose is pretty good 🤷‍♀️

    On gun culture in Australia I can still remember the way it was and how at the time it was just accepted without reason. I was raised on a property and my dad was a contract feral pig shooter so it was perfectly normal to walk in the front door and be greeted by 5 or 6 rifles on the gun rack right at the front door. I was taught how to shoot a gun and what to and not to shoot before I was old enough to start school. When we moved to the Gong me and my mates would ride around the street on our minibike with a slug gun slung over our shoulder in case we saw any mynar birds or sparrows. I remember an old couple sitting on their front porch pointing out where they put dog food out for the mynars to make it easier for us to shoot. We got 10 cent for each mynar. Up until 2000 when I was staying in SA on the property I was buying boxes of .22 bullets from Whyalla Chemist. Can't do that now. Haha I picked up my ug boot in the loungeroom on the property but put ut down to change the chanel. A baby brown snake slithered out. One of many everyday snake encounters there, mainly western, king browns and dugites as well as the death adder that nipped me and put me in hospital for a few days.

    • @FromTheGong

      Also Americans take offence to us joking about school shootings the same as we take offence to them saying a dingo ate my baby.

    • @CheekyKoala
      @CheekyKoala วันที่ผ่านมา

      In my experience, most country kids learn from a young age how to safely use a rifle, you are so right, they are a part of life for many people in the country! That said, we have laws which protect us & mean that you can’t just go out & buy a handgun & keep it in your house or have it in your handbag when you go to the supermarket. I think that the way we view gun ownership here in Australia is very different! Ugh, I wouldn’t be impressed if a baby brown came out of my ugg! I had a friend, many years ago, whose husband was a reptile handler & for a while there he had several baby tiger snakes in a tank in their house, I never felt comfortable being there with them in the same room, even though he assured me that they couldn’t get out!

      @@CheekyKoala Poor tiger snakes have got an undeserved reputation actually. One of my favourite and are really one of the most placid non aggressive species of all our snake species, beside every kids favourite diamond pythons. You really have to force them to actually bite, always will give two or three dummy strikes to say you're a bit too close thanks. Then if you do make one have to reluctantly bite it's usually always a dry bite first without venom again to say last chance. Only a fool gets bit again. Definitely doesn't mean go out and play catch with them, they will bite if you try to hand catch them the wrong way. But all in all a lamb in wolf's clothing.

    I've seen a lot of vlogs on Wineglass Bay & Bay of Fires, but what about Coles Bay & the Hazards? I am not interested in mountain trekking. mlfklait0mpc.i.optimole.com/w:696/h:391/q:mauto/f:avif/www.mywyndhamholidays.com/app/uploads/2019/09/shutterstock_1075048214.jpg But the view from Coles Bay looks great. Depends what's at Coles Bay? And how easy that location is to get to?

World's largest bauxite mine at Weipa, largest coal mines in Australia, silver, lead, zinc, and copper at Mount Isa, natural gas in the far south west. The Cannington Mine, located southwest of Cloncurry, is one of the world’s largest and highest-grade silver and lead mines.. Agriculture and financial services are 2 other income sources. More AI crap that needs highlighting for false and misleading content. Best thing is for everyone to nail this content for what it is. Absolute rubbish. The more that do this the more chance of it being removed. Misinformation too. These clips are made to sensationalise for hits and comments and extensive one here is just what the content provider is looking for for great monetisation.

    10 a. Adelaide is not all of Australia. There are plenty of other areas in Australia with a much milder summer. "Temperature (2017): Adelaide experienced a heatwave from January 18-28, with temperatures reaching 41.8°C at the Adelaide (West Terrace) observation station and 44.1°C at the Adelaide (Kent Town) station" That would be like me complaining about living in Sicily instead of Stockholm. I also found the dry heat much easier to manage. Helped with frequent gelato and iced lemon peel squash drinks and a dip in the Mediterranean. ' Extreme' humidity is Qld, Kimberley or Darwin, not Adelaide and Perth which have a hot dry summer and LOW humidity. Sounds like he lifted a comment from someone who lived in Melbourne (no location reached 40°C in 2017) but complained about the summer weather in Adelaide. 10 b. We don't have volcanoes, mega earthquakes, huge tsunamis, blizzards, ice storms or huge EF5 tornadoes. Bushfires run in cycles. Roughly every 20-30 years. The last was 2019/2020. The same with floods in Brisbane. 1893, 1930, 1974, 2011, 2022. Just yesterday hundreds of people in Indonesia died in a twin volcanic eruption. 9. Internet is slow in some parts of Australia compared to Europe & North east Asia. But why would you want to be indoors on a laptop when the beach is only an hour away from most big cities. 8. Isolated? Australia has air connections to a plethora of international destinations and domestic air services are quite good. 7. New Zealand, Bali, Fiji, Singapore, KL, Tokyo, Seoul, Manilla, Noumea, Vanuatu, Hawaii etc are not a waste of time to visit. 6. Travel prices have risen globally. 'Shinkansen' is not pronounced the way A.I. did. Perhaps if they had actually been to Japan & travelled on the shinkansen, they'd know how to at least pronounce it. Domestic airfares are slowly coming down. 5. The USA is even more car centric than Australia. Public transport in Australia is adequate in most of the big cities. Most British immigrants go to the USA & Spain, which have even more problems than Australia. Italy and France are in 4th and 5th spots. 4. House prices have risen internationally. Not restricted to Australia. Canada and the USA are experiencing the same problems. Europe as well. 3. Racists are everywhere. Ignore them or report them. 2. All politics and politicians suck everywhere. Boris Johnson, Trump, Morrison. Is the UK bad because Boris was in power? No. Is the US bad because Trump is in power? No. Is Australia bad because Rudd/ Gillard, Abbott, Morrison were in Power? No. 1. The British and other European countries like Spain, Portugal, France, & Holland were all indulging in colonialism. We can't change the past so there's no point banging on about it. But we can make slow gradual improvements into the future. The AI was not 'born here' and wouldn't be so UK / Euro centric if they were. They would jump at the chance to visit NZ or Tokyo.

      Once again, you totally nailed it!! I completely missed the disconnect between them claiming to live in Melbourne but then complaining about the run of 40c days! I did notice that they said on one hand that they had lived in Australia “for most of their life” then turned around and claimed to be 3rd or 4th generation Australian 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ You’re right about it being very European centric! Given a choice, I’d choose NZ or somewhere in the pacific islands over Europe anyway!!

      @@CheekyKoala I spoke to an immigrant from London and he hated living there. It was cold, it was dark and it was usually raining. He'd get up in the dark to catch a train to the city by tube then alight in darkness to start work in the city. Rinse and repeat to go home. 6 months or more of the year is like that. I went in summer and it was great to visit London, and it didnt get dark until 10 pm, but I wouldn't want to live and work there. It's also nearly as expensive as Sydney.
