When I saw your previous video I immediately requested one for Christmas (I already requested a good airbrush, but I put this one at the top of the list!), hopping Santa will listen!
@@squidlybits1985 man watching you drop highlights like this has totally put it into another perspective for me. Good thing I have a few hundred space marines to try this out on 🤯
Would love some tutorials for black armoured chaptors such as black templars/raven guard/etc Seems really difficult to pull of decent highlights while keeping them unmistakably black and not some form of dark grey etc
The problem with black and white armour is there's little to option to shade unless you pull back from pure black or pure white. Also, especially with black, edge highlighting is a real problem because it's so easy to end up going a bit too Tron.
Been using my H&S Evolution Silverline for 20 years now and only had to replace the needle and nozzle once, even as a greenhorn back in the days. Started out with a .4 needle and got a .2 recently in addition. No issues what so ever that could not be solved by solvent (haha) aka cleaning. Just make sure to thin your paints properly and dont use chalky or gooey colors, which goes for any gun. 10/10 would recommend the brand.
Other alternatives to yellow and red are black and white, which provide some challenges as e.g. the shadows (with black) are actually brighter than the midtone (black) due to the ground reflecting more light than the terminator.
Amazing. Going to try and use your template for my stormcast. Just did edge highlights on my previous models but i rekon with this I can push it to the next level. God save Squidmar
You say this will work for pretty much any other color. I find black to be a hassle and love Raven Guard. I see some make the highlights on black with a dark blue or a grey. What would be your suggestion on a black Raven Guard paint scheme?
Hello Emil, thanks for the video. I always wonder how people are dealing with parts of the mini that are hard to reach. For example in this video you painted the aquila first and than the bolter. I often struggle to paint the backside of the bolter without hit the aquila again. Are there any master advices? :D
For imperial fists if it was a black trim for the shoulder pads would u just leave it one color or would u still try to use different levels of black or maybe a dark grey?
Any tips for doing quartered or halved color schemes? The real kicker with my backlog is a white/blue scheme and I don't trust myself not to get blue over on the white half with an airbrush
So the shading you do when you paint, yellow, orange and red. Why do you not use the same technique with other colors. I have been wondering this for a while since you last talked about it. The Yellow model came out way better than the green and grey one.
i feel it nessassry to remind you that space marine armour is not normally metallic. It is a ceramite outer layer (some form of greyish ceramic composite), with a layer of paint ontop. It is not a tinted metal surface, but rather painted ceramic. probablu using some sort of military ultra-matte paint, though maybe not.
i only say thin because you're talking about cannon chapters. OC chapters and the odd cannon chapter have metallic armour colours, but most are some kind of paint on.

The Airbrush looks great! do you think it's good for beginners?
@@wolvilataniere well he only has about 2 weeks to get it so good luck!

@@wolvilataniere if u been a good boy like me then u will gets one, but if u been a naughty puppy then my dad says u not gets good presents 🤷♂️🥰🐶
Really miss these older style videos that are actual tutorials, always love to see your progress!
I have a love/hate relationship to how quick you're able to paint to such a ridiculously high level 🤪
Learn the basics shown here, practice it a few times and you'll get there :)

This feel more like a main channel video then a second channel one. Love the content keep it up
Yeah it sort of is, but it feels weird putting up a almost to years old video on the main channel
@@squidlybits1985 understandable. Not going to complain as long as it gets in front of me.
The funny thing is is that from a lore standpoint the armour wouldn’t shine because ceramite is a ceramic sort of like a planters pot

Vince Venturella recently put out a video of him doing a black-armored marine using only dry-brushing.

Dude, walking through the highlights with that template was amazing. Thank you.
This is a wonderful video. I’m getting ready to start my first Space Wolves for tabletop and this will be very helpful.
This video has definitely been a big help for my future painting projects, was even helpful with a 6ft traditional painting I did of a space marine
So happy to see video been wanting to see this video for ages!
Thanks for posting this! I’m trying to apply the same process to a red Wraithknight at the mo. Just the airbrushing steps have helped a ton!

such a wonderfully simple explanation! thank you!
As soon as I get my brand new SquidAirBrush it's time to spray and pray :D
Would love to see a bone/off-white space marine, with contrast paints. Looking to start my own chapter and I can’t find many similar paint schemes😅
Id love to see how you do this on a Black templar!
Thanks Squidy-Boy :)
What about chapters with bisecting schemes? like Howling Griffons?
How careful do I need to be handling the airbrush? I break things, even more when I’m a newbie at something 😇😅
Another great video!
Does anyone know if the new warhammer battleforce boxs will sell out quickly on the warhammer website? Thanks
You say this will work for pretty much any other color. I find black to be a hassle and love Raven Guard. I see some make the highlights on black with a dark blue or a grey. What would be your suggestion on a black Raven Guard paint scheme?
You start with a black, go with a dark grey and final highlight with a mid grey :)
Space wolf sporting the break-open style bolter of his forefathers.
Ordered the brush today, brother!
12:42 what three spikes?

I hear a Swedish baby! 🤣❤️ love this template idea too!
which white are you using with the green?
how would u mix grimdark with this?
What do you use for a fog machine?
Microfogger :)
Is there a Canadian link for your airbrush?
It should possible to buy though the link. If you're in the EU version it might have the German spelling kanada
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Is this the mark rober song?
How come the airbrush is only available for two weeks after all the effort that’s been put into it?
So the shading you do when you paint, yellow, orange and red. Why do you not use the same technique with other colors.

Amazing! 😀🤘🏼
"SQUIDY!"
Give me "DIM!"
((BITS!))
So basically you’re sketching out a skeleton in the middle of the marine.
Please paint Alpha Legion!
Plees show u using ur all gold airbrush please squidy bits!! Like in a suit and tie and wearing a Rolex or something cool like that! 😉🥰🐶
👍👍
oooo^ speed painting
👍
*Laughs in lamenters*
This is a non-issue for me, if I don’t like how it's painted, it doesn't play, no compromise
Guys, just paint them as Alpha Legion. You are then good to go.

Just do what I did in the video

I heard it instantly increase ur painting skills by 20% at least!
🤷♂️😉😂🥰🐶
By the way, the accent on "aquila" is on the first "a".
How to speed paint: buy an airbrush
Yeah we already knew that, how about those without air brushes.
you lost me at airbrush :(
