Wow, I don't know that pig used in many industry. As a Muslim I have to be more careful now for what product that I use or consume, thank you for the information 😊
As Christians, we too are not allowed to eat pig either. When I started studying the bible, I read that all pork and shellfish is forbidden too. I gave them up about 4 years ago.
@@yineLeyla Short Answer: Both Old and New Testaments. Read them. Long and polite answer: Provide me with the scriptures that Christians use to support eating all foods, and I'll show you how they've been misinterpreted.
It's great when you consider all the energy and produce it costs to raise a pig, it comes back in so many products. And if you are a vegetarian for mostly environmental reasons (like I), to see that all of the pig is used (the last bits as energy), makes the industry a little less bad. And.. go Dutchie! I realise she has a bit of an accent, but its a good to hear such English that is so easy to understand. You should hear my professors at Utrecht uni teaching Environmental Politics & Management
Yes, pigs are useful down to their last bits. But so are coconuts, palm kernels and crude oil. So it's not just pigs that make the world turning, but I like how she made the book like a concise encyclopedia of chemical engineering.
Christien is from the Netherlands, which is 'famous' for its pigs. They are everywhere, but crammed so much that hardly anyone knows of notices. So to be certain, the numbers are these - inhabitants of NL: about 17 million people. Amount of pigs present in NL: about 12 million. Amount of pigs slaughtered daily, on average, including weekends etc.: 40,000. Amount of live pigs exported from NL daily: about 30,000. Some people call this 'efficient', others call it 'immoral'.
@032125 I have no trouble finding or making most of the products listed in the book without animal products, so the death of a pig is in fact not necessary in these cases. Who says Sab611 doesn't look for cruelty-free products, too?
Interesting. People have no idea where their products come from when they buy them and go after they used them. To make them aware of this is a good cause.
@thisisnotanick I wasn't trying to input intention on the speaker, merely trying to convey a point. It actually seems as if she's much more concerned about consumer knowledge than animals themselves. That's also a very morally laced definition of Capitalism you've described. I take it you imagine that "Poor nations" become "poorer" through trade? If that's true why would they trade in the first place? If, by definition, you only trade if you gain something in value.
What's ironic is that the first to mention something unrelated like religion in these videos are the non-religious. Seems to be a lot of self esteem issues.
It's is truly amazing we don't know what things are made of let alone how they are made. If we are going to take an animal's life it seems appropriate to use everything rather than let it go to waste. However in the factory farming context and in light of our complete ignorance this practice does not seem to uphold any sense of dignity or sanctity of life.
@thisisnotanick Very true, I wasn't denying this fact. However, before Capitalism we only made products for ourselves, our immediate family, or small community. Now, we make products for people all around the world regardless of their connection to us. So yes, our ancestors used pigs, and all sorts of animals to make basic tools and products, but we now use these same materials in ways our ancestors could have never dreamed of. And I find that to be very beautiful.
@unkaodya I did not say I like it, but it is still a fact. Animals are more important to the survival of our civilization now, then they were in it's humble beginnings. If you look at the world as a whole, humans are very far away from being intelligent and compassionate. We are capable of compassion in the right circumstances, but so is most other species.
Hello,I am a ctitv news journalist from Taiwan, I am going to do a report about 《Pig 05049》 , can we use some part of your video in ours news tape, we will mark the source which is taken from your youtube account, we wish can get your permission, thank you.
A nasty blow for monotheism: Leviticus 11:7-8 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he [is] unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they [are] unclean to you. Deuteronomy 14:8 And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it [is] unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase
@t3tsuyaguy1 Except for the parts they didn't, not to mention the vast quantities that would simply go to waste, depending on the means used to kill herd animals.
@soyousay18 I'm already just using shower gels which are made without any meat and I watch our for gelantine. But it's often not even mentioned when there's gelantine in a product like I've never recognized before that there is some in low fat butter. And well, I don't use guns or smoke at all so.. But there are other things that she mentioned like the bread or some decoration. You can't go crazy everytime you buy something like this and find out if there's pig in it, that's what I mean.
@k8tr14 Well, more or less, but it would depend on your reasons for vegetarianism. Avoiding eating pig meat for dietary reasons isn't very difficult. If your reasons are more of a moral nature then i would agree, looks like it can be difficult to live a modern life without being a hypocrite. But everyone's a hypocrite and you can still make an impact by reducing your consumption.
@CreazyR0B0T That makes no sense. If the digestive system processes food too quickly, the toxins wouldn't be absorbed. The same could be said about ineffectiveness. If the toxins were stored in the fat, as you claim, then the pig would still suffer the toxic effects and die before we did.
The dough improver is L-Cystine, although the main source today is from a mutant of E. Coli. I call bull on the sandpaper. I think it's mostly PVA. Hyde glues are to temperature sensitive. Other beer clarifying agents are more popular. Gelatin in the beer can introduce lipids and ruin a batch. The cigarette was a good laugh. Lots of lard in this. Jamie Hyneman's favorite lube.
@CrashGames2108 LOL. Although actually, I don't recall any place where the bible says god "thinks". It says he "knows" everything, so he's like a wikipediapig, but I'm not so sure that he can think. That's what sets us "lowly mortals" from god. We think.
@032125 everything has alternatives. Exploitation and torture is not necessary. Death, ofc, always is the result of anything living. No1 is denying that

@daveyg07 Well, that still does not make this a talk about capitalism disguised as something else. If anything it is a talk about how domestication of certain animals made our society possible. Specialization, and by extension, trade, came into existence long before capitalism. Capitalism is a way to buy cheap natural resources from poor nations, and then selling them the refined products back at a higher price. If it's beautiful or not depends on where in the chain you are.
@KzrrainzYes 1) They are doing their duty to embarrass the fundies. 2) It's always amusing to point out silly beliefs. 3) Since you brought up self esteem issues first, I guess that must be you covering for your own insecurity.
