    So you can basically bind disappear to W. And then you open the game and thinking or pressing W to move forward when the software is learning to disappear. So you have binded move (thinking) to move in the game. Would be so cool to try and bind different things and play quake or something. The critique would be that we think alot faster then we do things and what delay is of interpreting the brain. Really cool head thing thought

    It might improve participants performance on difficult tasks like disappearing to "help" them visualize the task by showing a short looping video of what it will look like before testing them. Mild pain feedback might be good too when it comes to game control. I would love to play Mechwarrior with this kind of controller.

  • @lylyeoh
    @lylyeoh 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Once the "resolution" is better and faster, you can use it to store and recall arbitrary electronic memories (or actions) e.g. thinking "store", then "PatternX" then"do it", will store a current object that can be retrieved by "recall", "PatternX" "do it". or "quickrecall" "PatternX". So virtual telepathy, telekinesis and "videographic" memory would be possible. A problem then would be restrictive Copyright Laws...

    @KoyotoShadow I would think that after a while with these systems you would actually end up training your brain to better control your thoughts compared to someone who would never use it, and thus make it possible for advanced users to beable to use advanced function.
    Much in the same way running on a higher mouse speed, you eventually would get used to the sensitivity of it.

    Actually, this does work-- the system can discern different patterns of electrical activity-- the association between the thought and the action the system performs is arbitrary (i.e. you can associate "Pull" with "Open my internet browser")- it's basically a keyboard that works off your thought patterns. You have to be relaxed, and quiet for it to read you clearly. It takes practice, but it does work.
    That said, these patterns can also be broadcast into the brain-scary

    I was pretty bummed out when I saw that this was developed with software, mainly because I was hoping to do more research in this field.
    However, since this doesn't use actual thoughts per se, there must be another alternate way (in the much farther future perhaps) to actually track real thoughts as electrical impulses...

    Wow, it really is interesting to see this type of technology being developed, but there are a bunch of problems with this type of human-machine interaction. From this clip, it's obvious that it has to be calibrated every time a new command is learned, which could be quite tedious. Also, you have to take in question the various cofactors in the thought process ( for example, various moods and levels of concentration affecting the efficiency). Best of luck to people developing this tech!!

    @sherart I totally believe that we can manipulate matter with our mind. Actually, we do it all the time. Think about the simple action of moving your hand. But with this stuff, you're not moving objects with thought alone. Electrical impulses from your brain are being transferred into little electrical detectors on the headset. It's a bit misleading. In the example where the guy made the cube disappear, the program makes the cube disappear, the electrical signal from the guys brain triggers it.

Will it go for the "games" furthering our downward spiral into self-sensual satisfaction & self-gratification; will it be used to finely tune the human desire for power, destruction, and warfare, or will it be used to lift humanity and show us CLEARLY that our human thoughts do affect the inner world and outer world?
