Autumn Crocus Flowers

Autumn Crocus flowers are at their best this month. They are grown from large smooth bulbs that put up multiple flowers at this time of year. The green leave does not come until the flowers have finished which make the flower display all the more spectacular

It has been very cool here in Michigan in zone 5 and down to 50 F at night so I know what you mean. Sadly I can't grow bulbs like this because of a colony of moles that live under the concrete of our driveway. They have for 27 years disrupted my soil, moved tulips, undermined every single rose and new planting but it was when they killed a a young peach tree that the heart went out of me. Frankly I gave up gardening and even looking through catalogs over the season. I just couldn't kill them and made my husband stop using traps. We tried everything and I mean everything. We are moving to get away from them to a zone 6a lake property but I have seen sign of them entering the property from the woods there. I will treat the soil with milky spore again and Dan will mix castor spray again. I can't tell you what it means to be able to see beautiful plants and roses on your channel that I haven't seen or grown for years, it almost makes me cry. I have a renewed hope of a garden again at a new property, I just have to battle deer which is a new one for me. Thank you so very very much for your wonderful videos and in depth discussions. They are balm to my gardening soul.
