Dear Doug, love the charcoal spackle or premixed grout you used. Very cool effect! Nothing wrong with your shimming, but on the sidewalk side I would have preferred a piece of XPS foam cut to match. On the remaining plot adjacent to the fascia; I humbly think you should consider a little larger structure than you proposed. It’s an excellent spot to show a ‘half’ building with interior, giving the impression there’s more going on beyond the walls of all the other buildings. Three story high I would say, to tie it in with the larger buildings behind the spurs and also to relate it to the height of the nearby overpass. Cheerio

Simler to what he said, I agrees with the larger structure. But I am thinking one of those peaked cut in half structures . You no where they either tore down half of a split and left the remaning half and simplee spakeled wall completely flat. Be excellent wall area for more detail and grafeetee. Hope I make sense. Your work is getting better. 👍

A cross section of something also an interesting way to go...have to think on it a bit! Thanks for watching

I like this one. Grout premixed for my roads is a try for me. Thanks

Hi Doug!!! You have great whales. I'm from Russia and it's hard to get your whales here.... Release videos with the construction of the layout more often , you explain very clearly what to do and how to do it . Thanks .😃👍👍👍

Thought for that edge of layout lot… maybe it could be a building under construction? (Or being demolished).
It’s an opportunity for nice detail without blocking what’s behind.

I agree. Maybe an open cellar could work with floor joists added...

Model a burned up structure or just a foundation of a building that was there but cleaned up after the fire next to the newly place structure. I love how you detailed that side but such a shame to hide that with another building. Great work Doug!

Doug, great solution to getting the kit level. You often want a bit of slope to make the layout interesting, but that then makes placing the model difficult, so it still looks good. You have nailed it.
Thank you for sharing, cheers, and stay safe, Michael

I'd make the lot just the foundation of an old building. Dig it out and have the basement with chunks of broken stuff in there. Dig it out all the way to the fascia.

Looking great like the grout. So that last building what about an open interior building? One that extends Al the way to the end. It would be interesting and could be anything from a store, apartment or small machine/repair shop?

Another inspiring video - quick question as it seemed like a "perfect fit" - do you ever design a new kit (aka Frank Lava Gunsmith) based on a structure you want to place on your layout?

Great catch. I stopped at an office building in downtown Cincinnati years ago to politely point out this same error in a store window. The lady laughed at me like I was a crazy person. Can’t educate some folks. Great layout by the way.
