    RAV4 has always been a safe choice. That's why it has been the best selling compact SUV for the last couple of years. Hybrid just makes it an even more secure choice, for those who are looking for bulletproof reliability and amazing fuel economy.

      That is a very popular combo for Subaru Outbacks and Foresters - it is voted as number one on a large Subaru Outback forum. I sure there would be more sold if it was available on lower cost trims.

      @@andreaspencer9813 I was just surfing Toyota and it seems they are saving the dark green for the Highlander, Tundra and the Seqouia. Seeing as how this is a special edition it might have been nice though. Maybe they should add some faux wood panels in a "Woodland" edition as well.

    I had a Rav 4 rental in LA last year. It drove fine, good gas(35 highway)mileage. There was a bit too much road noise and the mediocre stereo did not help.

    I have a 2023 rav4 xle premium on order. Due to a car accident I had to replace the vehicle early. So I bought a 2021 Venza xle. I am totally impressed with this vehicle. It will be a difficult decision to trade this in for
    The RAV4

    When accelerating briskly with the gas engine, it goes into direct injection mode. Direct injection mode is noisy. However when cruising with the gas engine, it goes into port injection mode and it's much much more quiet. The engine is only noisy when accelerating briskly. If that helps anyone.

  • @jeffer1101
    @jeffer1101 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Once again, you two nailed it. If Toyota could fill the dealer lots with these, they'd sell every one of them all year. As Zach said, it's the best car you can buy. That XLE Hybrid (value trim) is well equipped, is very reliable, has great resale and unbeatable fuel economy. The mix of those is why I bought a Venza Limited in 2021 (got lucky as they had one on the lot). Lifetime average in 18 months is 6.4L/100kms driving it normally (not being an idiot, but not hypermiling it either). It gets better fuel economy than the Kia Rio5 it replaced.

      I like the Venza as well.

    • @ghenry85
      @ghenry85 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Venza is a Lexus on a budget(oh, so very nice). I agree that the XLE is the trim that most are goin to want, the premium package is a pretty good cheaper alternative to the Limited.
      Alot of people poopoo the LE, but it still comes with the automatic climate control(which I discovered is quirky but great), and the full suite of safety features that the higher trims have(in Canada). If you're used to manual seats, these are pretty easy to use(I'm the only one who drives mine, so it's more or less set and forget). And there's not a direct competitor(hybrid) that matches the LE price. The cheapest Escape hybrid is now 40k in Canada. The Ford Maverick hybrid can be cheaper than the LE but needs packages to get the equipment plus no awd(why?).
      In the summer my RAV4 hybrid averaged less then 5.5l per 100kms. Winter it's more like 6.7. I do drive long distances so the system gets warmed up and has time to bend the averages down a fair bit. Whoops my 14 Cruze though in milage.

      I drove a rental '19 Rav4 and really liked it! Placed it first on my list last year when purchasing a new car. Unfortunately, the delivery time was unacceptable (close to 1 year), so went to look for other brands. They are still selling like crazy, but I am certain I am not alone with not looking to wait that long! Missed sales for sure.

    • @gavinparmar1316
      @gavinparmar1316 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ghenry85 Agreed, a Venza is just a budget RX. If you want an RX, buy one instead of compromising with a Venza. A RAV4 is a better choice in every way over a Venza. I am still not sure why Toyota sells the Venza, which is slightly larger than a RAV4, yet has less cargo volume. Kind of like the old Toyota Camry/Avalon combo.

    13:00 I apricate that they talked about noise level in the car. I test drove a CRV hybrid and a RAV4 Hybrid back-to-back. And on the Highway, the RAV4 was just so stinking loud! Me and the salesman were having to raise our voices significantly to get over the wind and road noise.
    I have ordered a CRV Sport Hybrid (US) at a lower price than a similarly specked RAV4 and won't be going back to Toyota until they do A LOT more work to get the very noisy ride quieted down a bit.

    good job guys! And thank you for your accurate reporting on the cablegate. I have had just one customer who had the corrosion issue and sold many of these since 2019. @andreaspencer9813 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's great to hear, thanks for sharing this about your customer, nice to hear you have only had one issue. I am really happy Toyota is now offering a warranty extension on the cable to 8 years or 160,000 km on 2019-2022 models if there are signs of corrosion.

    • @andreaspencer9813
      @andreaspencer9813 ปีที่แล้ว

      @LS dog walker Initially I heard the same thing, there had to be a fault code on the driver display. However, after speaking with Toyota Canada, all RAV4 hybrid models from 2019-2022 qualify for the extended warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km on the part. The dealership has to decide whether the cable needs to be replaced, there has to be signs of corrosion, they won't just replace the cable if there are no signs of corrosion. I also haven't heard that any other Toyota hybrids are included in this warranty extension except for RAV4 models in that time period.

    • @andreaspencer9813
      @andreaspencer9813 ปีที่แล้ว

      @LS dog walker No problem at all. I wouldn't worry too much about your 2022 Venza, there are no reports of problems and Toyota said, the cable was redesigned in 2021. They just extended the warranty to 2022 RAV4 hybrid models because they want owners to have confidence in the brand and to feel okay about their purchase. I am sure if there are issues with Venza models, Toyota will step up and extend the warranty.

    The only problem is that no matter how good the vehicle is if never available to consumer and this make it practically useless. 1-2 years waiting list (not even a guarantee) is a non-brainer No No for those not-desperate buyers - Toyota have to up their game to tackle this availability problem whereas other manufacture including Honda and Acura is closing to only 2-3 months waiting list on any models now in Canada.

    Great review as usual ! I'm 6'2'' and I test drove a Rav4... I have to agree with your viewer that was complaining about the roof headroom... regarding headroom on the driver side, I find myself more comfortable in a Sportage, a Tucson or even in a Kona which is a much smaller vehicle. I love the bronze wheels on the Woodland but I agree it should be offered in Forest Green. I wouldn't get it myself since I think the sticker badge on the back is so cheap! They couldn't spring for a regular badge? I got the hybrid SE and I love it. The only downside of the Rav4 currently is how hard it is to get one. Wait times are long in the US and longer in Canada, and I ended up taking one that was a higher trim than I wanted originally, just to get to the front of the line. But no regrets at this point. Just fyi, this body style of rav4 has the smallest amount of headroom I’ve ever experienced on a vehicle. If you are around 6 foot 3+, your head will absolutely hit the ceiling in the passenger seat. Never had this issue with any other vehicle. Additionally, the interior including legroom and overall width of space up front feels super cramped, even compared to my 07 Honda accord. The way the plastic molding up front is near your legs is very oddly confining. Reviewers don’t particularly bring this up for some reason and say it is spacious, but it isn’t. Even my wife who is only 5 foot 5 couldn’t believe the difference between her 2017 escape and this.
    We ended up buying a 2023 CR-V because it was vastly more roomy. Was disappointed because I loved the response of the naturally aspirated engine and 8 speed.
    The CR-V is super nice though, and feel like Toyota is going to be losing a ton of sales because of space issues to it.

    Toyota needs to listen up and install manual passenger seat height adjustments in all of their cars. We skipped on purchasing a 2022 Corolla cross because the passenger seat was too low. What a crazy way to lose a car deal Toyota!

    Toyota has created too many trim levels (in Canada). Eight?!? That’s ludicrous. It still remains the most recommendable in it’s class though. As for that faux leather… I know of two people who were absolutely convinced (as told by their Salesperson) that their interiors were ‘leather’. Furthermore, they each paid a premium for this fake leather… which is still an amazing product (wear/feel) and in many ways better. But it is not leather. Even with the RAV4s many trim levels, it still remains the best option for those who want value, quality and respectable fuel economy. Thanks for the video.

    The US version of the RAV4 Hybrid Woodland Edition is a huge disappointment (compared to the Canadian version) since it’s based off of the LE trim in the US. 1) No heated seats option, 2) no heated steering wheel option, 3) no leather wrapped steering wheel option, 4) no moon roof option, 5) no power lift gate option, 6) only black cloth seats option - no soft-Tex seat option. Additionally, for being a “soft-roader”, 7) no front view camera option, 8) no skid plates, 9) same 8.1” ground clearance as the regular model, 10) Falken Wildpeak A/T tires are OEM versions that are not 3 peak snow rated. Most of the “upgrades” are just accessories and cosmetic embellishments (floor mats, black badging, bronze wheels, etc.) The main highlight is the TRD tuned suspension, but it’s unclear what exactly that includes. Is it really worth the 5 mpg hit compared to the regular hybrid? Ah yes, Andrea and Zack are great and I like their channel, but it wasn’t noted here in this particular video about the Woodland edition that it has slightly lower fuel economy (actually MPG estimates: 38 city, 35 highway, 37 combined).
