The first time I experienced Ronnie James Dio's stunning voice. I was 6 or 7. It was still printed on my mind when I started to listen to hard rock as a teen . Of course I was a huge fan of Rainbow Dio and Black Sab's Heaven & Hell ( even if I love Ozzy's era too) . He"s still my favorite singer. Thanks to Antenne 2 and it's technical issues !!
I hated being ridiculed by my elitist black Sabbath co-workers about Dio. I would bring in Mob Rules and Heaven and Hell to listen to and they didn't even know the music. They would go on and on about Black Sabbath this and that, but they had no clue. They said only the Ozzy era counted. I like Ozzy Sabbath, but Dio era takes it to another level entirely. These were the same people who wore their Motorhead shirts and loved Ace of Spades, then I would play Capricorn or Iron Horse, my two favorite Motorhead songs, and they didn't even know those songs either.

That's probably not a coincidence ! My friend worked for Vanda & Young in Sydney, & he said that George Young (rock & roll royalty here in Australia, RIP) told him that people go for the familiar sounds of the time. He used that old "silk, silk, silk; what do cows drink" thing to demonstrate it.
They played this at midnight at the end of the broadcasting day for years on one of the Denver Colorado TV stations .I Only found out years later being an oblivious metal head and never making the connection.... Ronnie was always there. .. and even my mom sang this tune a few times after staying up late......R.I.P

I had an argument with my uni lecturer back in the day. He told the class John Farnham did the vocals. I argued it was David Cassidy. Lol. I was a bit shocked when I found out it was guys from Black Sabbath (Ronnie Dio) and Deep Purple (Roger Glover) behind the frog. I used to watch this every other morning on the ABC after Sesame Street. Another clip they used to play was Mike Oldfield's Portsmouth.
I remember this video from when I was a kid in Ireland. It was regularly played in the early 80's. I thought it was the Beatles and typed in Beatles frog song and other than the frog chorus this came up as a suggestion. This is definitely the frog I remember . Crazy to see and hear it after all these years.

The first time I experienced Ronnie James Dio's stunning voice. I was 6 or 7. It was still printed on my mind when I started to listen to hard rock as a teen . Of course I was a huge fan of Rainbow Dio and Black Sab's Heaven & Hell ( even if I love Ozzy's era too) . He"s still my favorite singer. Thanks to Antenne 2 and it's technical issues !!
I hated being ridiculed by my elitist black Sabbath co-workers about Dio. I would bring in Mob Rules and Heaven and Hell to listen to and they didn't even know the music. They would go on and on about Black Sabbath this and that, but they had no clue. They said only the Ozzy era counted. I like Ozzy Sabbath, but Dio era takes it to another level entirely. These were the same people who wore their Motorhead shirts and loved Ace of Spades, then I would play Capricorn or Iron Horse, my two favorite Motorhead songs, and they didn't even know those songs either.

Check out his albums as part of Elf. They did three albums, at least some of which were produced by Roger Glover. Some very happy songs, very similar to this.

My friend worked for Vanda & Young in Sydney, & he said that George Young (rock & roll royalty here in Australia, RIP) told him that people go for the familiar sounds of the time. He used that old "silk, silk, silk; what do cows drink" thing to demonstrate it.
They played this at midnight at the end of the broadcasting day for years on one of the Denver Colorado TV stations .I Only found out years later being an oblivious metal head and never making the connection.... Ronnie was always there. .. and even my mom sang this tune a few times after staying up late......R.I.P

Same. I heard the song as a child, before I ever heard of Dio. Being reminded of it recently, I (obviously) recognised his voice, but basic google only gives "Roger Glover". It's such a treat to find it wás Dio. The juxtaposition of such a happy song and his gravely voice is so refreshing.

I had an argument with my uni lecturer back in the day. He told the class John Farnham did the vocals. I argued it was David Cassidy. Lol. I was a bit shocked when I found out it was guys from Black Sabbath (Ronnie Dio) and Deep Purple (Roger Glover) behind the frog. I used to watch this every other morning on the ABC after Sesame Street. Another clip they used to play was Mike Oldfield's Portsmouth.

I remember this video from when I was a kid in Ireland. It was regularly played in the early 80's. I thought it was the Beatles and typed in Beatles frog song and other than the frog chorus this came up as a suggestion. This is definitely the frog I remember . Crazy to see and hear it after all these years.
