Can you please help me with my issue??? I am trying this on windows 10 and im following your tutorial WORD for WORD and when I get to the part where you said to enter a new ip at the end that your other stuff couldnt reach. I do that and it tells me thats not a valid ip. if I try ANYTHING except what the ip address is supposed to be it says its not valid.
i have cctv dvr and i need static ip . because every time internet modem shuts down the ip changes into another ( because its dynamic ,i guess) .if i follow the steps from your video i am gonna make a static ip for the reason which i want for ?

the problem i encountered was that i wasnt able to connect to internet after configuring static ip. so what I had to do was close the properties window after configuring AND disable/enable the connection by right clicking your connection in the network connections window
Thanks for this. It worked for me but with two wobbles: The command screen on his PC shows two DNS server addresses. Mine only showed one. To over come this I did what he said and Googled "Open DNS Server" addresses for BT (my ISP). They came up and I used them. Secondly when I exited a warning appeared saying "Multiple default gateways are intended to provide ...... etc". It asked if I wanted to save anyway and I did. The trouble shooter then said all was OK. After all this, everything appears to be OK. Not sure if the warning will come back and bite me sometime. If it does I shall just revert to automatic IP address. Regards, John
I followed this step by step, and now I have no internet on my computer. Now it's doing a SYSTEM RESTORE, and I am seething with UNHERALDED PURE RAGE. OH AND IT FAILED. Now how Am I supposed to fix this?
my default gateway is a bunch of mixed numbers. Only my wifi default gateway looks like that. Well, it has a bunch of mixed numbers as well. But at the end of it, it then gives those numbers.

Go to ur pcs search bar, type cmd and run it, in it type ipconfig now you should see ur default / ipv4 gateways , if u cant find the dns there type ipconfig /all
If you just convert to a static you can cause serious network issues! If I caught an employee changing their IP they would probably get fired! Unless your IT manager, ISP assigns you a static or your running an internal network you can be in serious trouble changing to a static!
@@Trustyourtradezz because that IP might already be used, on a PC or server that is sometimes used. Might be assigned to a laptop that is only in the building at times. IP conflicts can be serious.

@@Trustyourtradezz if your a business you ask your IT staff to assign you a static. If it's home you you ask your internet provider to furnish a static IP or if your using a DHCP check your settings for a ip outside the DHCP range.

It's been solved for a while, sorry it took so long to reply everyone, just called my ISP and had them walk me through this.

I'm assuming that's your IPV6 gateway, but underneath it should be the ipv4, with a blank space to the left of it.
