This is our Black Hole Duffel 55L in Cobalt Blue from Spring 20'. We're sorry to say we no longer offer this color, but we did just release some new colors for Fall 23' which you can view through the link above.
Will you make the cobalt blue again ??
This or 70l? Need to fit a pair of running or suit shoes plus the usual, 2-3 packing cubes with tshirts etc and electronics like chargers etc
I’m curious if there’s a reason why the shiny part faces in/towards the carrier when it’s in backpack mode. IMHO that would be more aesthetically pleasing.
It would look better, but it is most likely due to the bottom of the bag getting the most dirty when on the ground, which would then get your back dirty when you use it as a backpack
Also no one can unzip it when you are walking along,.
Does this come with a single shoulder strap or can you connect one of the backpack straps diagonally to act as a single strap?
Hey! We do not offer a shoulder strap for this bag. You can use the backpack strap diagonally but it wasn't designed to be used that way so we couldn't speak to how comfortable it would be.

I just bought one in Hong Kong. Quite pleased with it.
The 55L is listed as 26.7x15.7x11.8
And the 60L is listed as 25x13x10
Is this right? The 55L bag is actually larger than the previous 60L?
Hi there! Yes, the 55L is a bit larger than our previous 60L.
That’s because like a few other companies Patagonia sizes were just made up. If you watch several comparison videos with other bags you will see some manufacturers bags hold more or less than others even though the listed sizes are the same. Apparently Patagonia was one of those companies that had bogus bag sizes. There is absolutely positively no other reason to explain why 55 L would be bigger than the 60 L. That’s what happens when there is no regulated standard. Companies can just make things up for marketing purposes. That being said I just bought a 60 L at the clearance price which everybody seems to have including REI and bat country for $40 less at only $89. I would recommend all to jump on that deal now before they’re all gone because there is no difference between this 55 L and they’re 60 L aside from the meet up haul capacity.

spicecrop Of course it’s a smaller bag. You’re missing my point. Just think of the 60 L bag is just the name of the bag and not keep actual volume of the bag. Yes the 60 L is smaller because it was just a made-up bogus size. Even if it’s a little smaller snagging it at the clearance price is a good deal. In my opinion the 55 L bag is really going to push it when it comes to carry-on size. The 60 L bag is a perfect size for carry-on. Yes 60 L in name only. Their new 55 L bag that apparently it’s supposed to have an internal volume of 55 L will get second looks as a carry-on. Don’t even think about filling it up to capacity.
Did they stop making the 60L? Difference between this and the 60L (besides the size)?
Hi SJ! Yes, the 60L has been discontinued and we added the 55L in its place. The fabrics and webbing of the 55L are 100% recycled, as opposed to the 60L. We also added L & R to the shoulder straps and increased abrasion resistance by 75%. It has the same water resistance as the 60L did.

Great question! We added an "L" and "R" to differentiate the left and right backpack straps, eliminating the possibility of attaching them to the bags incorrectly.
The material is not thicker, the increased abrasion resistance is a byproduct of the new material content being 100% recycled.
Impossible to refold
Could I make a shoulder strap for the duffle bag? I want to get the duffle bag, but prefer a single shoulder strap.
I’ve done this to other duffles. I’d take a strap from a laptop bag. They often have clip ons so you can clip it onto the handles of the duffel bag.
Wouldn’t recommend it if you need to haul stuff for long distances though, that uneven load is bad for your back.
Im just missing an additional sling for carrying it like s training bag
