The way Baylan talks about 'ending the cycle' of jedi and sith and whever is in power reminds me a lot of Daenerys' will to 'crush the wheel' in GoT. However I feel Baylan's will is more founded.
Daenerys was ultimately in pursuit of a duty that hadn’t been intended for her. She was just a princess, in the beginning. But then, all of a sudden, she is (as far as she knows) the last Targaryen. So she has to assume that mantle and pursue the throne, as any Targaryen, as any conqueror would. But in the beginning, all she’d really wanted was that house with the red door.
Daenerys was hypocritical. She wanted to end the cycle of rulers and the ruled by being…the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms? Of the world? Her crusade was a flimsy reason to justify her conquest. Baylan Skoll was like Ahsoka; he wanted to stop fighting, but more than that, he wanted the fighting itself to stop.
@@thephantompenance It's more that Daenerys wanted to rule in a manner where she wasn't as removed from the smallfolk, or as ignorant/cruel towards their plights, as her father had been. Or the Lannisters and their allies. That's the kind of wheel she's talking about, the kind of petty infighting and power plays that often trample the smallfolk or actively abuse them. Daenerys was a conqueror, no two ways about it. But prior to the absolute disaster of writing that was Season 8, she was relatively more moral than several other rulers of note. There was a pretty clear distinction between her and, say, Tywin or Cersei Lannister. Or Balon and Euron Greyjoy. Or the Boltons, and the Freys.

You know, Baylan Skoll would be the main antagonist of the Sequel Trilogy, alongside Thrawn, instead of Palpatine and Kylo Ren, as he could be considered a mix of both Qui Gon Jinn and Thanos. A Jedi who survived Order 66, however, as he learned that the Jedi were too arrogant and got involved into politics that led to their downfall, therefore he had lost faith in the order, and so he created a new order of Dark Jedi, and turned the Knights of Ren into a military force, instead of Stormtroopers. His character was the only part about this show I enjoyed. He was a pretty well written and acted villian in a very rushed show. Sad to hear we wont see more of him.
Throughout the series I always see Baylon on the defensive in a duel like in the first half like he was conserving his energy analysing his opponent. Like through the duel i can now confirm that he is using a form mixture of primary form 3 and 5 and abit of 4 for more agression acrobatic skills
Those orange colored sabers are badass and it shows that he is a Grey Jedi he may not bleed his kyber crystal red but he is balance in his dark side also Baylan's fit is clean it sucks the actor passed away if only we could see more of him
Baylan will be remembered as one of the greatest Star Wars characters created. We loved to hate him but secretly rooted for him to accomplish his goal. We knew it was too good to be true. RIP Ray Stevenson.
I see you are one of the initiated. One who recognizes the individual styles. Very impressive *Flourishes green lightsaber in formal salute before entering Shii Cho Stance Pray tell, what is your preferred style?
One thing I love about the duels was that Baylan clearly had better physical strength but Ahsoka made up for that with agility, so despite their very different fighting styles, neither ever had a clear upper hand until Ahsoka's hand was burned.
Disney at last managed to introduce interesting character whom you dont forget in 2 minutes after movie or series. And than the actor who played it dies, what a bad luck
I wonder about his deeper motives and allegiances. He was trained and raised as a Jedi initiate, then (presumably) as an inquisitor or Sith merc but in this show he was neither Jedi nor Sith (despite the red saber). I think this is the closest approximation of a Grey Jedi/Force-User we have yet gotten to see on screen. Considering the Force in SW is likened after the Ying-Yang concept he would fit the role and his goal of finding true balance/the source does line up with that.
Titus pullo, still the strongest and the most. Loyal now Ray in here as Baylan another strong man with a heart ❤ Sorry you almost got typecast Ray, always the best centurion! Wish you could have had a few series in this just to show presents and knowledge!! I am sure this is an totally unexpected whole to fill😢😢

baylan as a character had so much potential... too bad that Ray Stevensson died... may he rest in peace
11:03 bit was so intense and intriguing and interesting. The idea of him being reached out by something and the idea of him like in contact with something
He's going at less 2% acting power. Breezing through this, effortless. His expressions, charisma, presence.
He is dark! He has great power! But he is lost, and angry! And looking for more power! It never ends well! For people like that!
What an awesome character it's too bad that Ray didn't live to see how appreciated his work is
After Darth Vader, Baylon remains the only likable villian ark in star wars.
Those orange colored sabers are badass and it shows that he is a Grey Jedi he may not bleed his kyber crystal red but he is balance in his dark side also Baylan's fit is clean it sucks the actor passed away if only we could see more of him
Looks like Baylan Skoll is preparing to create a new dark Jedi Order
He was so good at this role. I wish he could see how cool this turned out to be.
Man this dude is bad ass wish he would have gotten more screen time
i love his fighting style his form and everything just resonates an old knight
The best thing to come out of Ahsoka series is Baylan!
This guy almost makes me want to watch this show.
Trust me my dude. This is as good as it ever got. The rest of the show is just a waste of time.
May you be one with the force Ray.
RIP
Baylan will be remembered as one of the greatest Star Wars characters created. We loved to hate him but secretly rooted for him to accomplish his goal. We knew it was too good to be true. RIP Ray Stevenson.
He really sells Djem So so good. You feel as if every strike takes immense power just to block.
I see you are one of the initiated. One who recognizes the individual styles. Very impressive
*Flourishes green lightsaber in formal salute before entering Shii Cho Stance
Pray tell, what is your preferred style?
I wanna see where things go with Baylan Skoll and Mortis… but I guess we’ll never know
I love how distinct they make his fighting style and just presence in general
Fantastic character and actor. Such a shame we will never see him again.
Titus pullo, still the strongest and the most. Loyal now Ray in here as Baylan another strong man with a heart ❤
Sorry you almost got typecast Ray, always the best centurion! Wish you could have had a few series in this just to show presents and knowledge!! I am sure this is an totally unexpected whole to fill😢😢
It's so sad we will not be able to see his further performance, he was the most interesting character since Disney bought Star Wars. And the acting makes me think he's really a former Jedi, not an actor playing it.
This man was such a treasure. He really made Baylon HIS own. I believed in that character and wanted so much to see more of him. Tremendous loss of talent. His presence was scene stealing even with few words. He brought gravitas to this role. RIP Ray Stevenson…
Such a amazing written and acted character, RIP Ray Stevenson!
Hopefully his character found redemption in himself, even if they're both gone now. Please no recasting, but rather have his apprentice finish his task.
Would of loved to see a ray vrs anakin fight mainly cus ray actually knows how to sword fight just like hayden does
This guy should've been the villain of the sequel trilogy...
His arc about destroying the force so there'll be no more force users good or bad ...
luke would be married to Mara Jade & they had Ben Skywalker
along with the new cast
12:46 The moment when the piano beat started dropping when Baylan stopped Ahsoka mid-air was badass.
Ray Stevenson as Baylen. Perfection! RIP My friend.
Dude played one of the best new characters in the franchise and then dipped.
Of course he is badass, it's the fricking Punisher with a lightsaber
Baylan Skoll...one of the best characters Disney will ever introduce thanks to their incompetence everywhere else. May Ray RIP.
Was such a great addition, may he rest in peace. Loved his aura but I also loved his gestures when deflecting blasters. It so unsettling and unique. Like robotic but flows with rhythm of an well experienced warrior
He was the best character created by Disney imo wish he was used more
What a beauty. R.I.P. (dude was acting out his final moments and he knew it)
