Even if there is a total lack of punishment from from the courts they should be charged with benefit fraud and forced to pay it back even if it means selling every item they own. I don;t want my hard earned taxes paying these fake scroungers.

I’m an American so I can only comment my experience with Vietnam vets who were shot or exposed to several poisonous chemicals and most alive today are still treated or diagnostically seen annually or more due to their exposure(s) and most just get on with life daily with not much acknowledgement to their disabilities. One man I helped the past 6-7 years until he passed last year who was shot in Vietnam at age 18/19 and was in his mid 70s and couldn’t even walk. He still tried and managed to live on his own despite he couldn’t even barely walk. This generation of “disabled victims” are something else.
My lovely Grandad was in WW2 fighting the Japanese in the Burma jungle, a man from a small town in the north of England is only outlet was with other men in the pub. He had horrendous nightmares but these brave men would never talk about it to others and then you have these people, was the fight worth it!

The penalty cost for attempting insurance fraud should be at least equivalent to the claim, this would reduce what the cheater claimed for and also discourage false claims, then talk about prison, one year per £ claimed sounds good.
I don't know how it is elsewhere, but here you can't report this kind of fraud anonymously. You have to give your true name and information to prevent people from just harassing others they don't like with false reports. The risk is obvious. If you get someone cut off from their fraudulent insurance and disability checks, and they are able to see who reported them, you and your family are in danger of reprisals from them. So it's best not to report what you know in the first place. Some system!
