@@Ajax93 Yeah, I discovered that after I wrote that post. I also read about how he's also screwed three grannies out of their money by promising to marry them and is on the run in Vietnam, so the detective saying he'd give him about 2.5 hours after he got out before he was up to his old tricks was right. Also, Howard Walmsley isn't even his name apparently! He is a career con artist!
@@workinprogresssince1974 Bonus ball struck again lol
In a small town near me when the lottery first came out, an old codger told bar patrons that he won the lottery. He bought a ticket with the Friday winning numbers on Saturday morning. He had a newspaper to show the winning numbers. Everyone saw that he had the winning numbers but no one checked the date on his ticket. He said he needed money to travel to the state lottery office.
People were lined up to give him money. He stayed at the bar drinking on his new found wealth. He fooled them all.
Okay but that's kinda funny
That's the way, he did, surely! It was, my question! How did he convince everyone, and at first, the Bank? So easy to fool people, in fact! 😏😏
That's a good way to get your head bashed in a few times.
The where all greedy 😅😅 what a mess
What a good idea. I will trick my BF hahahah

Did you see them disappear the minute they found out there was no money?

VB I think she is incredibly beautful as well, and such a sweet spirit to stick by that wanker. She would make a lovely wife for someone else, and I hope she is happy now. I can relate, I have been married to and dated some real douchebags, and can't figure out where my self esteem was at during those times. Women need to know their worth!
@Kara Dodge You are so right. He knows she's out of his league, so we will never know what he or anyone else said to her behind closed doors to doubt her worth
@little Dorit Very interesting comment! 🤔👍
never underestimate the power of low self esteem
When a guy does this it's wrong, when a woman does it then it's called a relationship.

So sad
She’s not all that great. She promised not to tell anyone and immediately went and shared their financial situation and proceeded to try and spend it all as fast as she possibly could.
In fact, he would have told her except then he would have to explain it to the town.
She is very attractive
Or because she married him and unlike so much garbage today, she believes in "for better or worse"
This guy is so psychopathic that he still has no guilt. He almost looks proud, like it was a fun little game for him, with zero thought for her emotions… Sad!

I’ve been married 16 years. I trust my husband but, if he told me he won the lottery, I would definitely need to see proof. Anyone reading this…make sure you have an open book policy with bills, checking/savings accounts. I also did social work for 15 years and I saw women and men who were in the middle of divorces or separations or their loved one passed away and they had no idea how much debt they were in. Their husbands/boyfriends/partners forging their names for credit cards, loans etc. Financial autonomy is one of the most important parts of a relationship. Stay informed.
Agree, stay informed, be involved.
I knew a woman who told her new husband she was getting no child support on three kids. Lied for years. Her Husband's Son went without while her kids lived very well. This because the New Husband spent his money carrying her and her kids while she contributed nothing to the family. When the Husband died she concealed all assets from the estate. The Son sued her and she was forced to account and pay up.
Agree x
Also make sure when dating online that you get a live or proof of identity note from them with "HI" your name hand written on paper with today's day and your person's face in background and only give them two minutes which should be more than enough time to take a selfie

I cannot understand how she stayed with him after realizing how far he'll go to lie to her and keep it up. He's not only made her look like such a fool for believing it but also for staying with him. Perhaps it's different in the UK but in the US your credit, financial future, and name would be ruined for the rest of your life.... And she stayed with him... Wow. He's obviously a psychopath... Zero guilt, zero shame.
I mean, it all happened in 1998, so she may have by now.

You can tell that she’s still broken from the lie. He doesn’t deserve such a woman that would stay with him after such a sham. Sad to see the pain behind her eyes. Not that she didn’t get the money but rather how she was deceived and how far he went to do it.
She’s cut from the same cloth as him if you ask me : vacuous self-centred, insecure and amoral. She knew all along, she just wanted it to be true enough to suspend her critical faculties and dive headfirst into Howard’s delusion. She’s as bad as him if you ask me :)

"John Eric Wells is wanted by South Yorkshire Police. He is also believed to have used the named Howard Walmsley and Howard Hemmings"
"Aged in his early 60s and originally from South Yorkshire, he is wanted in connection with three high value romance frauds, during which three victims lost money totalling more than £400,000."
"The offences are reported to have taken place from September 2014 onwards. The victims lived in locations across the UK including Doncaster, Sussex and London."
"Officers searching for Wells believe he may be abroad."
@funkybuddhalnit Do you reckon this guy has changed his name by deed poll? The interviews with his solicitor showed paperwork with Walmsley on it, and that’s also how the police referred to him.

They seem to not realize how they harmed other people as if their imagination could just wipe that away!
I did some research and sadly he ended up doing similar to two other women in the mid-late 2010s, conning them out of thousands of pounds. He is believed to be on the run from police, apparently hiding out in Vietnam. No remorse, repeat offender. His wife in this video died of a heart attack at 47.

If I hadn't lied, she'd have known the truth 😅
So, the wife was going to leave him but stayed when she thought he’d lottery, says as much about her as it does about him.
Can you blame her? She probably had to put up with a lot of b..s before this that she thought okay now is not the time 😂
Sounded to me like she really loved him and was only thinking of leaving because he wasn't working and carrying his end of the load. Hitting the lottery would've solved that problem. Just the fact that she didn't leave immediately when the truth comes out says she actually cared about him and wasn't some gold digger.

She just sits there like.. Oh well guess shet 'appens ye know
I find it hard to believe that she didn't ask him to show her proof. Like the letter from the Lottery board, a replica of the check blown up. I'd be putting that letter in a frame. He wasn't even in the news in print or tv. Crazy
I recently read about a double murder in Ontario, Canada (somewhere close to Toronto), with similarities. The couple (with kids) were given tickets to go on a family reunion trip to Greece. The man had no $ or credit left to cover their expenses thus revealing his financial mis-management to family- especially his wife. Who thought they had over $100,000 in the bank. He'd lie for why their credit cards were refused & bank cards wouldnt approve payments - leaving his wife needing to ask him for cash for all her purchases, for several yrs. She worked & her pay went directly to the bank but she indicated she had no access (& seemed to be ok with it, as simply a 'traditional' marriage ).
Without dwelving deeper into all the lies he told coworkers, childhood friends, & family, to constantly get $ from them, it all culminated in a brutal, callous, cold blooded murder of his elderly mother & her husband. One night he douched them in gas & set their bedroom on fire, holding the bedrom door shut to prevent their escape. I dont recall all the details as to how that was supposed to fix his immedite need for their upcoming trip, but my reason of bringing this up, is the similarities with the wives in these 2 cases.
This case shocked me in terms of how disinterested his wife was in the family finance. Especially as she worked full-time & had a decent salary.
She accepted suspicious explenations for why her bank & credit cards stopped working & for 2 yrs she needed to use cash only -which she had to ask her husband to withdraw for her (not asking why his cards seem to work).
Until the trial, she believed him, (including his denial of involvement in the murders ofcourse).
Outside of an busive relationship, its difficult for me to understand why anyone would trust someone to this extent & remain in the dark while her paycheck continues to be deposited into an account she cant access. Why she didnt call or visit the bank.
My apologies, I dont have links to verify this story, but it should come up in a search, for the guy who burned his mom & her partner to death in an attempt to hide his financial problems (& cash in on the life insurance )
@@gf3473 Thank you I'll check that out. It seems both wives were in denial or blissfully blind to their husbands behavior.
