I went to see The Nutcracker at London Collisium over Christmas (2023) by National Ballet Company. The music by Tchaikovsky was wonderful and uplifting and the ballet superb. Just magical. Something I wanted to see all my life and will never forget.

Очень любил Россию и считал себя "русским в полнейшем смысле этого слова". Это хорошо, что его прадед был из современной Украины. Вот только украинцы от всего русского открещиваются. Вот что интересно, что давеча на Украине уволили преподавателя музыки, который включал Чайковского. Так же все украинские театры бойкотируют музыку Чайковского. I saw the Nutcracker performed at Lincoln Center, it was beautiful beyond words and brought me to tears. Its not Christmas without listening to this masterpiece.
I was a young man (elementary school) when my parents took me to see The Nutcracker. The scenery and actors were good, but what I remember loving was the music. It was a very long ballet for a boy, but I never noticed because the music was (is) so wonderful. 🙂
This is a shiny and precise version, although I've heard many good orchestras perform it - this is full of surprises and different sounds. Especially the horn section is the clearest and stongest I've ever heard.

Still, the so-called "great" Russian ballet doesn't change the fact that Russians are terrorists and murderers. They just don't care about such things as human life and freedom. Germans had to atone for the crimes committed by Nazis. And so do Russians have to atone for the genocide committed against Ukrainians. Ballet doesn't serve as an excuse for crimes against humanity.
Tchaikovsky was a master of beautiful melodies. Surely one of the most important composers of the Romantic era. Many of his pieces were used in movies, also in cartoon movies, Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny etc.
Life is always busy and stressful, but this video gave me a chance to relax and immerse myself in the beauty of the colors and music. Thank you for creating such a wonderful work of art.

We've been lucky enough to be able to see this annually at the Coliseum London every Christmas for the last decade or so. It is truly magical.

The best ballet version of this I ever saw was Mikhail Baryshnikov on a PBS Special in I think 1977? He was such a strong, athletic dancer.
