If you want to know how early Haki was foreshadowed, go back to Choppers backstory. He has a conversation with Dr. Hiriluk about what a pirate is and he says "A pirate? Pirates are great men of the sea. They have a body hard like stone, the eyes of an eagle, and a voice that tears the sky asunder!" That's clearly a description of all 3 types of Haki and you saw the sky split by Shanks and Whitebeard right after Ennies Lobby!
That end screen when you see "Go To New World" so much differently than "To Be Continued". You know that it's gotten the halfway mark. It's crazy just how much everything is tied together, and how everything comes back to something we've seen before. Oda is the goat!

Basically they both are able to touch and hurt logias (and other devil fruit users such as luffy with blunt attacks) but haki doesnt zap energy out of them like being submerged or being in contact with sea prism stone does. Haki also doesn’t revert or prevent devil fruit users from using their powers. So in ace’s case, he probably was using haki but that doesn’t get rid of the fact that akainu is literal magma that can burn even fire. Blackbeard’s yami yami no mi is somewhere in between. It doesn’t zap energy out of devil fruit users but it does allow him to touch them and prevent them from activating any of their powers. They’re little differences, but it is important to take into account.

How long haki was planned is really debatable. While what Shanks did in the first episode is conqueror's haki it is also a common trope in anime to intimidate your opponents with a glance. Personally I think that Oda came up with haki around Skypiea when he started to run out of ways to counter logias.
When reading the manga, it truly comes to light how much Oda has planned, and paid attention to detail. I think its likely that he had a rough concept of it from the beginning, and then started to show it with Zoro in alabasta when he fought mr 1

@SirVetsalot its because even though Oda had a rough idea things still were drastically different from how he thought they would be at the beginning and it makes sense for Buggy to not know haki because he was just a child when he was on the ship and he never had any big ambitions so he just never bothered learning, Ace didn't really have a reason to mention it as Luffy was still early on in the Grand Line and they were really only together for a short time before splitting again, and early on the only people who should have known haki yet didn't were Crocodile who can be explained by him perfecting his fruit before moving on to haki and of course Oda himself says he regrets introducing Crocodile so early and Gecko Moria who doesn't really have an excuse considering the fact that he was a New World pirate before losing to Kaido

It may not have been thought up by Oda yet...but remember the FIRST time we met Mihawk! HE was the 1st one to show us haki in battle...before we even knew what it was. He blocked every move with that tiny knife cuz he KNEW where they would strike... He knew Zoro wasn't a threat because he could SENSE his power wasn't high enough yet... He gave us a crash course in Grand Line combat and we didn't even know yet. And that's why Zoro vs Mihawk is my favorite scene in this series

Conquerer’s Haki is useful from a storytelling perspective. With Conquerer’s in the picture, you can justify getting all the mooks and grunts quickly out of the way, so we can get straight into the sick 1v1 fights.
This first section of this show is special. I am definitely still into the show but I kinda missed Luffy's goofiness when haki wasn't an option. Like water luffy or his natural resistance to electricity. I liked the idea of luffy coming up with weird solutions to logia types.

10:22 Well not necessarily, it wasnt always planned from the start at the start it did feel like it was Shanks only ability especially since Crocus could have taught them Haki or could have perhaps stated something about haki back then. Edit: Also let's not forget that Crocodile who attempted to fight Whitebeard before the Alabasta Saga, would have needed to learn Haki, so the question is if Crocodile underestimated Luffy or if Crocodile just held back against Luffy because he could have used Haki against Luffy.
I don't think that Luffy would let his adventure be halted for Crocus to spend months teaching them haki. He only cared to master the ability when he knew that it was absolutely necessary and he realized that he couldn't progress without it.
I think oda had a rough design of haki in the beginning As it was refrenced in the warship island arc and giants from little garden arc also used it to cut the huge goldfish In the skypia oda give a little teaser of haki but haki was officially introduced at the end of enis lobby arc when shanks used it

People have said that haki is something that Oda put halfway through the series but I totally agree with you Heisuten; Oda had it in at the start. He might not have had the system fully fleshed out or even named at the start but it was all there. Most of it works from qigong like stuff and has been hinted at here and there, with things like the invisible armour, instant digestion and absorption of food, ability to control hair, etc. etc.. For example, Luffy was foreshadowed having observation haki way back in Alabasta when he could sense Crocodile in the sandstorm moving past them; Zoro with using armament haki to allow him to cut steel; and of course, Shanks way at the start. The CP9 also have what could be thought of as precursors to haki.
People are always surprised to see how so much of this stuff comes around like it's been forever since they saw it. I mean, yeah it is, Haki was unofficially introduced when Shanks intimidated that sea monster. But you gotta remember, the story, hasn't been long. Only the Arcs are super long
for hei and the people interested who dont know ace was confirmed all to have conc haki but he never trained haki thats why he didnt use it...honeslty my theory has always been that oda wanted to nerf him like that because he had to die for the story bacause of how bloodlines work in one piece the son of the pirate king with a logia and all types of haki would just have been to strong and he had to die for luffys development.
mastering the two haki to the advance level even without conqueror can make you formidable just like admirals compensated by op fruits but not enough against for those who master the 3 haki even without devil fruit

This first section of this show is special. I am definitely still into the show but I kinda missed Luffy's goofiness when haki wasn't an option. Like water luffy or his natural resistance to electricity. I liked the idea of luffy coming up with weird solutions to logia types.

10:22 Well not necessarily, it wasnt always planned from the start at the start it did feel like it was Shanks only ability especially since Crocus could have taught them Haki or could have perhaps stated something about haki back then.
Edit: Also let's not forget that Crocodile who attempted to fight Whitebeard before the Alabasta Saga, would have needed to learn Haki, so the question is if Crocodile underestimated Luffy or if Crocodile just held back against Luffy because he could have used Haki against Luffy.
why would crocus talk about it out of the blue
I don't think that Luffy would let his adventure be halted for Crocus to spend months teaching them haki. He only cared to master the ability when he knew that it was absolutely necessary and he realized that he couldn't progress without it.

I hope that the number of viewers of Heisuten above 200 thousand (One Piece anime) may be possible even though it is difficult, but if One Piece fans all over the world are united, millions of viewers will not be difficult.

People have said that haki is something that Oda put halfway through the series but I totally agree with you Heisuten; Oda had it in at the start.
He might not have had the system fully fleshed out or even named at the start but it was all there. Most of it works from qigong like stuff and has been hinted at here and there, with things like the invisible armour, instant digestion and absorption of food, ability to control hair, etc. etc..
For example, Luffy was foreshadowed having observation haki way back in Alabasta when he could sense Crocodile in the sandstorm moving past them; Zoro with using armament haki to allow him to cut steel; and of course, Shanks way at the start. The CP9 also have what could be thought of as precursors to haki.
People are always surprised to see how so much of this stuff comes around like it's been forever since they saw it. I mean, yeah it is, Haki was unofficially introduced when Shanks intimidated that sea monster.
But you gotta remember, the story, hasn't been long. Only the Arcs are super long

for hei and the people interested who dont know ace was confirmed all to have conc haki but he never trained haki thats why he didnt use it...honeslty my theory has always been that oda wanted to nerf him like that because he had to die for the story bacause of how bloodlines work in one piece the son of the pirate king with a logia and all types of haki would just have been to strong and he had to die for luffys development.

@@free2341 I agree.The pacing of the anime is not very good but there are fewer fillers than Naruto.Some of the episodes are fire as well.But one piece manga is the most popular manga in the world and it has far better storyline,mysteries and world building than the other two.
