Awesome! Just ordered some Cinestill 35mm and 120. Can't wait to shoot it! Thanks for the discount code. Also, that Bronica RF645 is beautiful! I just need one in my collection...
I agree, why not both! Enjoy and be safe on your trip, Take! Looking forward to your next visit out to SoCal! I'll take the time while you're on vacation to watch all of your videos, haha.
Big fan of your video! I too went to HK with Cinestill 800 and Leica MP after watching your 135 version review~ m.blog.naver.com/viaromana/220965597628 Thanks for the discount code! Now I am $100 poorer instead of $115!
What a wonderful video, loved it all...the shots everyone got came out really well considering you were all on a 2 hour time limit. and something else I think was really great was to see a group of people, all different nationalities, coming together and and just having a great time with each other as you share your love of photography and having fun getting pics with your cams. you should try doing more of these if you can, love them. love Cinestill 800T as well, probably my all time favourite for shooting with at night, love the effects you can get with it.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I love these types of projects, but it definitely takes a lot of time, planning, organizing and video editing. It took me months to get everyone to submit their pictures. Some are airline pilots, doctors, world travellers. I had 2 major sponsors (CineStill and Meteor). I had a second videographer. I can probably only do these types of videos once a year until I can grow my channel. But thanks for watching!!
Reminds me of the fun photo marathon competitions in the old days of a big number of people shooting 24 frames of film in 24 hours then handing your roll in and getting judged. Started at midday Saturday you were given a 24 roll of 35mm film and a piece of paper with 6 topics / themes. You had to use you imagination to take 6 photos, in order, then at 6pm meet at the next checkpoint to get the next 6 topics for the next 6 hours. Same at midnight (6 more topics) then finally at the next checkpoint at 6am for your final six. At midday Sunday you hand in your roll of 24 photos taken in order. Then go home to sleep! The organisers process and judge your for interpretation, execution and originality. What a way to push your skills.
i love shooting with CineStill 800T! I just wished I lived in a city of lights that truly shows off the look you were able to pull off in the samples you produced. Great Job guys! :)
If you lived in a city of lights, you probably would be less enthusiastic about the flare halo you'd get around each of those lights. That's the quality price you pay for CS's removal of the antihalation layer when repackaging Vision 3 movie film.
I think Joseph did an awesome job scanning these! Its my least favorite part of the process!! Well done chap :-) Awesome vid (as usual) Crackin shots! Love the film too (but i think some of that credit MUST go to Joseph ;-) )
Great project and great shots! This film is magic, love shooting it indoors in 120. Great for some cinematic wedding candids. Have you tried it with flash? Just shot a roll using a yellowish vintage flash, waiting to see the results!
Hi .Recently found your channel after i had been given a Flexaret tlr. Haven't shot film since i left school in 92. Now it's time to start again. great videos .Really inspiring . Thanks :)
Makes me a little sad that I didn't bump into you guys while I was there late last year -- I also happened to have my Rolleiflex 2.8F with me. Sam Shui Po and Mong Kok are great environments to take pictures in.
Yeah sure, but shouldn't it be much cheaper than (they are using 24 pictures per second)? Or is the process to remove this layer and packing it on a 120mm roll this time consuming and complex?
using the 85B filter is only recommended when shooting during the day. At night, since it's a tungsten balanced film, and much of the outdoor lighting is tungsten or within the tungsten light temperature (which is warm), it works perfectly.
there has always been standard 35mm and large format 65mm motion pictures film (often labeled IMAX). They've modified the large movie format to a medium format film size, which takes some modification and time to put on 120 spools.
Photographic film is made in a variety of lengths and widths, so it depends on the factory to cut a custom width/length to order. Get the word out, take orders, contact the film producer for a special order, and presto, high speed, Tungsten-balanced roll film. One big change from the Analog days is using a computer, hardware, and software to scan negatives instead of making color prints. (One can, within limits, color correct paper prints from color negative film.)
thanks for watching. Yes, the primary goal was to really have fun, challenge one another but only compete with oneself, and I think everyone did a fantastic job.
thanks yes, I tried my best, but still not even close. I would love to have an actual movie camera with film and try doing it. Give it that Wong Kar-wai look
Not a problem. Buy Vision 3 film in bulk, save a pile of bucks, then develop it yourself and save another pile of bucks. (No one "loves the halos"; they just have to slide by the problem without calling a pig a pig.)
Randall Stewart Lots of people I know but it specifically for the halos, and look for subjects that accentuate these. I will try the Vision 3 some time, does it come in 120?
I owned a 3.5F with the 75mm Xenotar lens first. Then bought a 2.8F planar. I ended up selling the 2.8 because I preferred the 3.5. It is only small difference in depth of field and light gathering and I felt the 3.5 rendered more "classically".
I used a 3.5F with a Planar with Cinestill800T in Shinjuku - provided there's enough neon lights around, it's easy to handhold at 1/30s and small and light enough to not necessitate the 2.8F.
I would love to, but they take up too much time.... in the future when I can afford to have a second shooter and editor... but thanks for watching and enjoying!
Amazing video, been looking forward to it since you uploaded a teaser! Would be awesome if a book or zine was made from this collection of photographs!
How are you guys able to capture motion & make the scene so bright? Is it just a bigger aperture? Or is it only due to the 800 iso? Or were some film pushed??
I think Joseph pushed his, but with a bigger camera, it's easier to stabilize the camera. I was using a monopod for many of my shots. But one can comfortably hand hold 1/15th of a second if you practice. The issue is the movement of people and vehicles.
He wants life to be a struggle using a GA645??? Hello, the thing is a giant point and shoot, you want to make things a struggle go shoot a Super Ikonta 531...
I do like this film when I shot Coney Island in New York City at night. I had some amazing results with the 35mm format. You could see it on www.flickr.com under username evelasq12. Peace, Flood!

that's great, you'll enjoy the CineStill. I love the look of the RF645 versus the Fuji GS645, but I'd be happy with either... or both!!

Videos like this are what makes TH-cam great. Wonderful film and photos. Cool cameras. Thanks Take.
+Lyndon Smith thanks for watching!
Glad to find this video. Thinking about buying a few rolls of 120 and driving over to Seattle to play in the streets at dusk/night.
It's a great film for shooting either day or night, but it's king for night photography in an urban setting :-)

Move to NYC

Thank you guys, you guys did a very very good works! After staying 8 years in US, i'd almost forgotten how beautiful my home is.
I definitely have to try out this film. looks really interesting. Thanks for the Video
Been waiting for this video 👍🏻 great video Take
thanks. It was a tough video to shoot and produce, but I'm glad it's done
Sent off my first roll of CineStill to be processed today. Now even more impatient to get the scans back. Beautiful colours.
awesome, yes I love but also hate the wait....
I think Joseph did an awesome job scanning these! Its my least favorite part of the process!! Well done chap :-) Awesome vid (as usual) Crackin shots! Love the film too (but i think some of that credit MUST go to Joseph ;-) )
What makes your photoos better,
if your cap has been turned180 degrees?
Great project and great shots! This film is magic, love shooting it indoors in 120. Great for some cinematic wedding candids. Have you tried it with flash? Just shot a roll using a yellowish vintage flash, waiting to see the results!
I'd love to try this film with strobes. Perhaps that will be the next challenge :-)
Hi .Recently found your channel after i had been given a Flexaret tlr. Haven't shot film since i left school in 92. Now it's time to start again. great videos .Really inspiring . Thanks :)
thanks for watching!
Can you do more of these !!!!
Amazing video! Thanks.
Beautiful!
Makes me a little sad that I didn't bump into you guys while I was there late last year -- I also happened to have my Rolleiflex 2.8F with me.
Sam Shui Po and Mong Kok are great environments to take pictures in.
Fantastic. Some really nice photograph in there :)
ya everyone did a great job considering the time constraints and the fact no one used a tripod.
Really diggin the look of this film! I've bought 5 120 rolls. Quite expensive though, hope it will be cheaper in the future...
+Irnbruist it’s expensive, but remember is actual movie film. La La Land was filmed on this film for all the night shots
Yeah sure, but shouldn't it be much cheaper than (they are using 24 pictures per second)? Or is the process to remove this layer and packing it on a 120mm roll this time consuming and complex?
Looks beautiful Sold!!!
What a great film.
Finally I hear the sad music, this Video was taken four years ago, now ,no more Hong Kong
These are incredible
thanks!
Do you use an 85B filter when you shoot this CineStill film?

Thank you, appreciate the fast response.
Just curious, if Cinestill is motion picture film (with the remjet layer removed) where does the 120 size come from?
there has always been standard 35mm and large format 65mm motion pictures film (often labeled IMAX). They've modified the large movie format to a medium format film size, which takes some modification and time to put on 120 spools.
Timothy Roper that's a good question

What is your most favorite camera ❤?
Tough competition - great job.
thanks, we all had a great time!
Great shots!!
thanks!!
Very nice!! My favorites are at 20:38, 21:22 and 21:57. Looked like a lot of fun. Great job!
thanks for watching. Yes, the primary goal was to really have fun, challenge one another but only compete with oneself, and I think everyone did a fantastic job.
I liked your video grading at the end that looks similar to Cinestill (just without red halos).
thanks yes, I tried my best, but still not even close. I would love to have an actual movie camera with film and try doing it. Give it that Wong Kar-wai look
Box speed?
Where is your shop in Hongkong? I am in Hongkong but I can’t find a film camera shop except Sunrise Camera.
For film developing try Dotwell in TST, as for Leica cameras go to Champagne Court also in TST.
Thank you Lugano. Wish I could have known it when I were in Hongkong.
I know people love the halos but not me unfortunately, if they could find a way to get rid of that it would be amazing.
Not a problem. Buy Vision 3 film in bulk, save a pile of bucks, then develop it yourself and save another pile of bucks. (No one "loves the halos"; they just have to slide by the problem without calling a pig a pig.)

Always wondered if the extra stop on the Rollei is worth the extra money over the 3.5 version
I owned a 3.5F with the 75mm Xenotar lens first. Then bought a 2.8F planar. I ended up selling the 2.8 because I preferred the 3.5. It is only small difference in depth of field and light gathering and I felt the 3.5 rendered more "classically".

I'm not 100 % sure, but doesn't the 2.8 version have a brighter focusing lens also?
either way they aren't great for night shots, and the 2.8 is much heavier, if you want the shallow dof I dont think Rollei is the way to go
Like this video! Please do more of this!!!
I would love to, but they take up too much time.... in the future when I can afford to have a second shooter and editor... but thanks for watching and enjoying!
Amazing video, been looking forward to it since you uploaded a teaser! Would be awesome if a book or zine was made from this collection of photographs!
Thanks for watching. A book or zine would be cool.... but the question is, who's going to do the work? Ha ha, maybe I'll ask Joseph :-)
I’ll be in hk soon. Looking forward to take tons of photos! Nice challenge I want to join me toooooooooooo
Awesome, it's a great place to take photos. I'll be back in April myself.
bigheadtaco how long will you stay there?
I am speechless... this film + the talent of the photographers.... amazing
thanks. It was fun. We didn't overthink it. I invited two friends, Joseph invited 3. We had film, we shot :-)

How did you like HK? 🎉
Very cool :) I very like it :) And I hope you make more this videos :) Thank you!!
I love making videos like this but they take a lot of time... maybe once or twice a year...
bigheadtaco Npr...Then I have to wait 😮😶👌 but 6×6 film is cool soon I hawe too 120 film camera and start make too.
Nice.
Those shots are amazing
Thanks, yes I think everyone did a great job.
tommy!
He wants life to be a struggle using a GA645??? Hello, the thing is a giant point and shoot, you want to make things a struggle go shoot a Super Ikonta 531...
Mod Cat Studio Struggle with an Ikonta? A camera that shoots half a 5” x 4” but fits in a jacket pocket. They are cool.
Why I think all are saying "sinister one twenty"? Very good production Take!
+peasant vasea sinister sounds like a cooler film!
I do like this film when I shot Coney Island in New York City at night. I had some amazing results with the 35mm format. You could see it on www.flickr.com under username evelasq12. Peace, Flood!
Take, you need a directional mic in your travel bag ;)
TLR at night is the real challenge, the rest arej ust easy cameras
20 minutes blablabla 3 minutes results
Yup.
