    Started at 230, over 7-8 months lost to 180. Stopped taking the shot. Lost down to 175 over the first month after stopping. Maintained 175 for the next month. I completely changed my lifestyle, started eating better, started exercising 4-5 days a week.

    You are SO correct on the weight maintenance! My lowest weight was 167 lbs, but now I have been maintaining at 171lbs for last 6 mnths, which still puts me at excellent BMI. My overall health has never been better. A1C, lipids, blood pressure kidney function all very good and stable. No longer focusing on scale, focusing on strength training, maintaining muscle mass and walking at least 7000 steps daily.

    I lost 45lbs and came off 15mg Mounjaro very effectively without weight gain, for at least.... ONE WEEK! Happily back to 15mg weekly for maintenance (insurance permitting!). This is a lifelong drug for me.

    My doctor warned me that that might be the situation when I started. So I expect, providing it’s still available , that I will be giving myself a weekly injection. At least until I get in the nursing home.

    @Theofficialdrdan Thank you for your videos. I’m from California, currently with Kaiser and it has been a nightmare trying to get weight loss help from my GP. I had to go outside of Kaiser to get help but I couldn’t afford to keep doing that since I was paying out of pocket. I know Zepbound is in my formulary but my Doctor refuses to give me anything because I got help from an outside source to lose weight. I’m at my wits end. Many times my weight is the cause of other health issues according to my Doctors but then they say they won’t help me lose more weight. What a broken system. If this is truly a disease, why are there mind games when it comes to medication? Just give patients medication. End of story.

      I feel your pain. Oregon Kaiser patient here…my doc says I can’t even be considered UNTIL I’m at 42 BMI or over. I already meet criteria otherwise for the meds use. Broken system and KP is the worst about this issue.

      There should be a program to go with it. Retrain your diet habits and do resistance training. Weight Watchers is doing this now with glp1.😊

      @@brianne571Kaiser doctors are the only ones you can see when you have this insurance. When Kaiser has a policy it is system wide and no doc can make deviations from the system policy. My only option is the online clinics that may or may not be reputable and charge up to 1,000 a month for the med and “medical support.”

      @cindy My Mom is a diabetic and uses Kaiser in California.
      They have been consistently VERY weird about GLP-1 meds (not just her cardio guy but her GP as well), and just want to pump her full of more and more insulin. I’m going to chalk it up to it being some sort of systemic thing with them. 😕
      I would consider going elsewhere.
      They just seem to be very behind the times in this particular area, IMO. For basic care they seem OK though.

    I’m so glad I found your super informative videos. I’m wondering if you have experience with people moving from semaglutide to liraglutide for maintenance purposes. I’m currently cruising along on a low dose of semaglutide. I have 40 more lbs to lose but I’m steadily losing 1-1.5lbs a week, eating whole foods, weight training, getting 10k steps most days, etc. I’ve successfully lost before but, as you well know, keeping it off is the kicker. I would love to stay on a glp-1 medication long term but as an American, the cost is just not sustainable. I’m sure it will eventually come down, but since liraglutide is available as a generic, that would be much more affordable to me (I’m paying out of pocket). I’m going to talk with my doctor about this option when I meet with him next week but I thought I’d see if this is something that you see people be successful with if they don’t want to fully come off of a glp-1 but can’t sustain the cost long-term.

    Nice vid, Dr Dan. Maintenance seems like SUCH an under-discussed subject… especially in proportion to its importance. 😯

      @theofficialdrdan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Because no one is really thinking about maintenance. It's always about losing weight. But it's needed to strategize for the future. Unfortunately, most people only look at the short term. And as I've said of you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

    Thank you very much! I do it on my own (no experience with this in Germany). I now phase the medication (highest dose) out over some weeks and restart tracking with a good app. Looking your video I decided to chose the high protein option in the app. And I have sessions with a psychological therapist.
    And I am increasing activity as well.

    I only have this for 2 months and now if you have Blue cross, they're no longer covering the medicine but you can pay $1500.00 for it if you want Wegovy. I'm still going to gym and fasting. So, no weight gain so far. it's still working in my system 🙂

    • @cloakster
      @cloakster 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think Novo Nordisk offers a savings card/coupon for Wegovy that knocks $500 off the price for most ppl who pay out-of-pocket. 🤔

    I checked the TDEE Calculator for losing at my current weight and then maintaining at my goal weight and the calories were about the same (protein was less for maintenance). Does that seem right??

    You're encouraging people to remain on these medications forever even though they increase the risk for certain cancer? Why? At least try to get off once you've reached your healthy weight level.
