HAHAHAHA YESSSS!!
Well, here it is, a run I've wanted for quite some time now.
Utsuho is by far the most atmospheric final boss to ever grace this series. Everything about the battle fits really well together: the music, the annoyingly bright radioactive bullets, the gigantic sun bullet danmaku, and the... whatever that is in the background, the nuclear symbol with the cat on it. To put it simply, it's intense.
The stage portion is pretty straight forward (in this run, things got a little too close for comfort against those crows that crap all the large white bullets), and the same goes for the midboss encounter with Orin.
In my opinion, most of Utsuho's difficulty comes early on (actually, I don't think anyone would disagree with this). Her first card is tough, but I've noticed that when I play more defensively on it (as in, not try to capture it ASAP), I tend to fair far better against it. Her second noncard always seems to backstab me when I least expect it, but small movements and a little luck with good openings--as this run demonstrates--allows ReimuA to take it out within 1 iteration. Her second spell card is random and annoying, so I honestly don't know what to say about it :P
Aside from that, the rest of the run came down to nerves and whether or not the last spell would shit in my face. Luckily, everything went according to plan. Funny thing is, the last few runs immediately before this one had me failing the last spell left and right; I'm not talking about dying once or twice, I mean dying all the time without me understanding why.

Oh utusho, I love her and hate her at the same time. All of her spellcards are so simple and yet so hard! Only her final spell has an actually complex pattern, the rest are just a demonstration of how much raw power she has. And yet the battle is beautiful in its own way.
Her first attack is the greatest FUCK YOU moment in Touhou.
And you're all like "Oh so that's the first 2 seconds of the fight. That's gonna be great."

I will say that her final card is probably one of my favorites of any stage 6 boss, or even the games in general. Her whole boss fight is surprisingly unique

Thanks for the info. Hoping to pick this game up. It seems like a LOT of practice is needed to be able to move that precisely and so quickly but the fun is in the challenge.

One of the most iconic stage 6 bosses
Reimu A's support ability is that when not doing anything if you tap the direction key twice into a wall you will teleport to the other side.
While the gaps are bigger than many other spell cards, it's the fact that you're constantly getting sucked into the middle that makes it difficult. It's like you're simultaneously dodging in all directions: moving backwards to bullets you can't even see, while making sure the dots don't hit you.
And then it just starts going faster and faster, so you have to back up even more.
Not to mention this card is famous for its many many clipdeaths, since the red bullets have fairly large hitboxes.

@Shrouded Bowkeys personally that's all opinion. I have a tough time focusing on three things at once, even if they are slow. so the slow moving bullets coming in both directions confuses me and i die quickly. so for me, it's one of the hardest bosses because her attacks aren't what I'm used to
@wildliongirl They're not available for sale outside of Japan, however you can download them many places. This Touhou is named Subterranean Animism. Just use google.
There is also an English patch, get that too if you want to know what everything is saying and what the spellcard names are XD
the best way to explain t is that the actual hit box of the bullets are a smidgen few pixels smaller than the actual border of the bullets this is most prominent in "bubble" bullets like Remilia's in touhou 6

Wow U are good! I just recently started playing touhou games. So far completed Touhou 10 and 11 in easy mode, but the normal mode already gives me a headache especially with Touhou 11 and stage 5. Well, must keep on practising...
Agreed, and I doubt anyone would argue against that. Getting a good run of EoSD Stage 6 relies on a lot of luck since Eternal Meek, Vampire Illusion and Scarlet Gensokyo can all randomly decide to completely screw you over, and when they don't they're still not particularly easy. Even Remi's first spell card can be annoying, and then there's of course Scarlet Meister. The entire thing is hell.
Utsuho's got to be the most badass boss in all the Touhou games. Who else uses SUNS as missiles?
The larger the bullet, the less of that bullet is actually part of the hitbox.
Like the notorious bubble bullets that koakuma throws in EoSD stage 4, for example. The colored part of those is basically safe. but the clear part is not.
using Yukari as your power, you can double tap the left/right direction when at the edge of the left or right of the screen to teleport to the other side

i can barely beat perfect cherry blossom on easy and im pretty sure that is one of the easiest ones and YOU are over here beating the final boss of one of the harder games in the series on lunatic with no deaths! kudos to you my good sir/madam
At 1:41 the enemy's danmaku pattern resembles Yukari's "Border of Wave and Particle" from Shoot the Bullet, which Satori uses if you are playing Reimu A.
Yeah, the only thing that constantly gets me killed on her final spell card is a bullet to the back since I am too busy trying to back up and dodge the front shots.Incredible job though, I imagine this level itself made you a bit lunatic.
I can't help but notice the kitty in the radiation emblem that makes up her spellcard background (2:21, near the bottom right)

Q: What do you use to record?
A: FRAPS. To achieve HD, I change the video from 640x480 to 960x720, and then I add black bars, 160 pixels in width, to both the left and right sides of the video.
I basically use FRAPS to record in 640x480, and then I use a program called MeGUI Modern Media Encoder to do the resolution trick. I use Camtasia for any cropping/editing.

@xpag1337 You know that you can choose between different abilitys in Touhou 11. That teleporting to the other side of the screen is Yukari's special ability. When you choose Yukari in the beginning, you just have to double tap the left or right arrow when you are at the very left or right side of the screen. For the program, I can't help you there.

I think it said in the selection screen:
Go to the edge of the screen, stop shooting, then double-press the movement key closest to the edge.
e.g. if I wanted to swap from left to right, I'd hit the left wall, stop shooting and double-press Left arrow.

Use FRAPS to record the replay, then upload the video file to TH-cam as you would any other video. I'd give you further details if I knew how to use FRAPS, all I know is that it's what most replay uploaders use.
Actually, there are extra downloads that I've seen and watched a few videos of. Basically it which adds another difficulty ABOVE LUNATIC.
Petit Flare (and its tougher cousins on Normal, Hard, and Lunatic difficulties) are all relatively simple to deal with if you stay calm and realize that the large red suns will shrink by the time they near the bottom of the screen. Keep that in your head and look for the gaps that WILL appear. Dodging the tiny blue bullets is just a side recreation to the card....

Only doable with reimu A (reimu x yukari), you go to the edge of the screen and tap left twice if you are on the left side, or right twice if you are on the right side of the screen.

The sun bullets have different hitboxes depending on the attack pattern. That one in particular has them at their smallest which allows abuse--this isn't true for any of the other ones. Also, if you're interested in smaller hitboxes, look at shmups by Cave where the hitbox is generally a single pixel.

Yeah, ReimuA is pretty much the only shottype in this game: great damage, a long lasting bomb, and gapping to boot. Her only problem is a lack of spread, but that's completely outweighed by everything else.
For all the effort they go to, you'd think these enemies could just create an unavoidable line of bullets with no space between them.
This method only works in SA, and only with ReimuA. When you're at the side of the screen and not shooting, double tap the direction that goes into the screen. In other words, when you're on the right side, tap the right button twice to go through it and gap to the left. Or vice versa.
Utsuho's theme is awesome.
