- A run of UFO stage 6 without dying and bombing.
Here's part 3 of the crazy that happened on 18th of April 2010.
In a timespan of less than 3 hours I managed to perfect EoSD stage 5 and UFO stage 5 and 6. It's been around a year now since I started playing Touhou so this was quite a nice birthday present~
Damn, this came out of nowhere. I never had any intentions of actively perfecting Byakuren, this just sort of "happened". Not going to complain though! :V
Sort of dropped the whole no UFO's thing here as it really does not make any difference anyway. If any, it makes it HARDER because you have to move around the screen more. Besides, just sitting there doing nothing is at the same time boring to play and watch. So yeah, this is just me dicking around during the stage portion.
Byakuren is a challenging final boss.
The hardest part of the fight is with her first card and second noncard, although it remains hard throughout the rest of the fight.
Overall one of my favorite final bosses.

Most of them are taken from the PC-98 touhou, Mystic Square's final boss Shinki. Take a look at the old game and her spellcards, they are based off them :P
To me they are memorable in the sense of how they are a sort of recollection of how the PC 98 era was as a sort of tribute to them, and with emotional skyscraper sounding weirdly nostalgic brings me to the conclusion that this game was a bit of a call back/tribute to those games, especially Byakuren thought the spell cards are made to be more grandious in a way, and since this was the game that ended the 1st Windows era it would good to make it so that it acknowledges their existence, That one cameo fro Yuka on Th9 wasn't much so I this is the best way ZUN could have referenced the Touhou PC-98 games. I really like Great Magic "Devil's recitation".

I just want to say that this perfect run is a good reference for the musical build-up around Holy Maelstrom. Even the timing for Devil's Recitation firing the red lasers was perfect.

The game so insane it can be legitimately used as ransomware. Imagine in the future all computers are locked behind this game and a specialized force of Touhou experts are needed worldwide to help people regain control of their systems. Hahahaha, I actually wouldn't mind that kind of future.

Fun little fact about Devil's Recitation. Shinki is often thought of as a "Satan" type of character; in other words, the Devil. And Recitation refers to the action of repeating something from memory or from a list of facts. So Devil's Recitation literally means Shinki's Repeat or Memory of Shinki or something like that.

Adding to this is the fact that the entire spellcard is just Shinki's final form/attack.
Pausing there causes the purple and red waves to not overlap and form a near solid wall. Or yellow and purple don't remember.

I mean, in a game where it feels like 25%+ of the challenge sometimes is just trying to hit the boss....... Homing shots as your main damage could be useful :)
+Blu_Wraith I prefer the challenge. Besides, I like Marisa better than Reimu.
Helio Knight well whatever floats your boat :) (But I do think thats the main reason sanae and sakuya are picked very often, homing shots make it so you just have to worry about doging)
But if you only dodge and abuse Homing bullets you become reliant on them.

This clear of Byakuren's fight is essentially the *perfect* showcase of how well timed Emotional Skyscraper is with the fight
Non 1: Introduction to the song
Spell 1 (Good Omen): First verse
Non 2: Repeat of introduction
Spell 2 (Magic Butterfly): Second verse
Non 3: finishing out second verse/Pre-bridge section
Spell 3 (Milky Way): Bridge section
Non 4: Climax (kind of strange when you think of it that this song climaxes on a nonspell, but it works)
Spell 4 (Devil's Recitation): Repeat of climax, then build up to the second climax as the lasers come in. All out now!
Spell 5 (Superhuman): Repeat of second climax
Spell 6 (Legendary Flying Saucer): Repeat of original theme/first verse, bringing the song and fight to a close
This theme took a long time to "click" for me, but now it's one of my favorites.

Honestly me too. "Uhmm what is she doing?" I say to myself, staying put on trying to dodge. Then a few seconds later I realize she gets closer, and then I die trying to go up. Now that I practiced the spell a bunch it's much more easier, still a pain

lol this stage for a pc 98 player does the same effect of the "plin plin plon" from a dark souls player, except reaching Byakuren is quite a little bit harder than soul of cinder

Well, time to go back to trying to beat stage 1 on easy.

Byakuren is the only stage 6 boss that doesn´t use any pointy/cutting objects (knives, kunai, daggers, etc.) as bullets.
Okuu is just bubbles, pellets and circles the whole fight, same with Junko except with lazers and jellybeans
How the hell do you dodge the 3:04 part? I invariably get clipped on it. It seems like there's a different pattern, and I can't figure it out >__
That next to last spellcard looked like a nightmare. I can't even play Lunatic mode on any Touhou games. I can't even play Hard. Best I can do is Normal. It's too overwhelming. I dunno how you people do it.

does UFO have a bullet max on the screen because it looks like the third nonspell has some breaks in it possibly due to reaching the limit

I have 1cc'd touhou 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13. But UFO is the hardest to me. Why? Because of captain Murasa. But this is some fine gameplay here, i am nowhere near as strong as you.
Funny thing, Shou is what keeps me from true 1CC on Normal. I have it rather easy til' her. Those curvy lasers are just too formidable. Then Byakuren cleans up the shriveled husk that Shou leaves behind within her first few spells and non spells. I have yet to see devil's recitation. ;-;

My reason for not 1ccing UFO is because I'm an idiot and I always clip multiple times on Stage 4 even though it's easy as hell. And then there's Shou's 3rd and 4th spells which chomp on my bombs like fucking piranhas.
Cue Byakuren's impossible boss battle after that and you'll get to listen to the beautiful sound of Marisa pichuuning.

The limited resources are tricky, and the bullets are pretty dense, with fucking evil hitboxes.
Sorry for the bad word, but how the fuck can you capture Byakuren's last spell? I was tryting to do it only that spellcard for 4 years now, only on Normal difficulty, without any success. She just doesn't want to die for that spellcard.
