A very sad day. Sabine passed away yesterday. She was something special. RIP Sabine (1969-2021)
Bless her. She has now come forward with severe cancer that has stopped her racing. She is an absolute pioneer woman that the media never made enough fuss about. I pray that she gets over this and is still strong enough to live a full life. What a wonderful woman.
To mention another, Michele Mouton is almost never mentioned enough... someone who has WON group B and Pikes Peak is a scary person no matter their gender

imagine the faces of the guys who get overtaken by sabine in a van. i mean theyre driving Porsches and who knows what and then there Comes a van and destroys their lap time XD
You actually saw in this video a guy racing a ford transit against a few mini's one of the best handling cars ever built, and holding his own.
Any man bothered by her passing them has deeper problems than their lap time.
@Syndrome of a Down There will be a sore excess for insurance purposes, but you don't have to pay for the whole car if you run it into the barrier.

Even the locals, who spend a huge amount of time on the Ring, and are capable of putting down solid laptimes tend to drive carefully and rather slow, when a lot of tourists are there.
Those guys know, when to drive slowly, and just have a nice day on a beautiful track. Meanwhile, tourists often underestimate the track, overshoot a corner, or do stupid stuff in general, like drifting at Brünnchen for example. Which often leads to accidents, which then results in the very reason why natural selection is important: getting out of the car, standing directly in the apex of a rather fast paced corner, to check the damage on the car. Seriously, any car that comes after them could make the same mistake, hitting them, now we have a fatal accident. You don't see such dumbassery with the locals.
They should have made her presenter on Top gear

Sabine, you've been taken from your family (world-wide) far, far too soon. Such a shock to us all when we heard of your passing. My sincere condolences to your family, I can't begin to imagine their grief. You lit up our lives and we are richer for that.

My God, What an amazing legacy she left. Everyone on here remembers her incredible talent, her ferocious will to win and her incredible positivity. Much as everyone is devastated by her tragic loss they are also comforted that her inspirational and uplifting drive and spirit lives on here forever.
My condoleances to her family, friends and her racing community. I will never forget this van challenge, it is epic.
Does anybody else think that Richard was a much better host back in the day? Like he was so much more peppy and upbeat and in newer top gear he was a lot more sarcastic and miserable

Just learned of this fabulous woman. Have watched her race & she loved what she was doing! Will never understand why great people are taken from us too soon & the vile live on.

That orange Mk.1 van racing at Lydden Hill form 2:23 to 2:50 is the Ford Apprentice Training School 7 litre V8 Ford powered conversion. I've been looking for clips & pics of that for years - yes I was there & even cut metal for it!! Yay!! Later on it grew a pair of chrome plated side-pipe exhausts. I saw it live at Walthamstow Stadium - racing stock cars. We helped push it off the trailer on to the circuit. It was the precursor of Supervan.

She was so much fun, so alive, so full of bounce, that it's very hard to try to understand that she's no longer with us. She was only a year older than my son. Far too young to die. Thanks for the memories, Sabine.

Brilliant, loved Sabine Schmitz ever since I first saw her on Top Gear in 2004! Infectiously funny, UTTERLY Brilliant and Skillful behind the wheel and 100% entertaining!!
Her passing is a UTTER TRAGEDY! But they say the best often die young, she was and is THE BEST! And I'm sure she has lots of drivers to teach in heaven. She may be gone but she will NEVER be forgotten she WAS the Nurburg Ring summed up in a nutshell Exciting, FUNNY, Skillful, and made people SMILE, Laugh and HAPPY!!
