    For the fresh herbs, I’ve found that trimming the ends of the stems before you put them in the water also helps extend their life

    Great tips! If you make your own bread, NEVER refrigerate it! Slice, and always double wrap before freezing. Another good tip for bananas that are overripe: toss the entire intact banana into a sealed freezer bag and freeze them. Continue to collect them until you have enough for banana bread. Finally, every time you prep celery, carrots, or onions for other dishes, toss the clean scraps, including clean inner onion skins into a big freezer bag. Do the same for all poultry bones. When you have enough, use them to make delicious bone broth in your Instant Pot or Crockpot. There are tons of videos on TH-cam on how to do this. Loved the adorable clip of Sage with blueberries all over her face. So cute!

    • @HeronCoyote1234
      @HeronCoyote1234 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for mentioning well-wrapping the bread before freezing. Otherwise, I’ve found it gets freezer burn if thrown in the freezer while only in its original bag.

      I’ve got a couple of other freezer tips. If you like hummus and it’s on sale, buy a ton, and toss them in the freezer. When you eventually defrost, they’re exactly the same, texture-and taste-wise.
      If you eat tofu and like it extra dense and chewy, throw it directly in the freezer when you get home. When you need it, defrost, drain and press as usual. It has a meatier, denser texture, and soaks up more marinade/flavor.

    Thanks for these ideas, im definitely trying out the bananas hack now. The tip about the onions and potatoes really got me. I've been storing mine on the same shelf in the pantry for years and I've kept wondering why on the earth the potatoes kept sprouting SO fast. I used a lot of them in my garden to grow more potatoes, BUT didn't get to eat a lot of them lol. Thanks again!

    You can freeze cilantro and then cut off what you need to use you can also dry it and crush it into a jar so you have fresh dried cilantro . Instead of a dish towel use a clean dog pee pad and cut it in 4 pieces and put it with the plastic side down in the fruit or veggie drawer. Then just throw it away when you need to.
