In early 2010s (i born at 2004) i used to listen Alexander Rybak a lot. I was huge fan even. I had great taste of music when i was kid, and i always loved Norway and general europe. At the same time i was discovering metal, but not black metal from norway, metalcore scene of early 10s and late 00s, asking alexandria, bvb and bands like that. After growing up discovered the beauty of Black metal. When i was 15 i started to make black metal one man band project) . Now just turned 18 and still working on it. Its interesting that i was huge fan of Alexander when i was kid now i am seeing that he also worked with BM bands, (norway stuff) Still like Alexander’s music and of course Black metal.
I think this is the only awesome (AWESOME!!!) moment in Eurovision history, I so regret I didn't see this on TV watching with my parents and grandparents
this is not the type of music I like, but what I was saw was a versatile virtuoso on stage playing violin on another genre, Alexander really deserves admiration for he is such a talented person
I love this performance so much. This is one of the best ever for a true fan, not only for love of the band but also for this particular song. I goose bumps when they sing in unison the line "we have found a way to stay divine. We march towards the stars." The hair whipping is electric. This performance should be remastered too. The live sound is incredible.

Y'know, this was pretty killer. I love it when Metal bands go outside the norm on some things, and this was pretty badass. Plus, they seemed to be enjoying themselves, so that's an added bonus. That was probably pretty fun for them to be able to step outside the normal boundaries and do something most people would never expect. It shows open-mindedness and a will to bend the rules. And that Alexander Rybak kid was pretty enthusiastic about it, so more power to 'em lol :D
Man, Norway television seems so great, if I see music like this gets mainstream broadcast time, as well as bands like Shining and Enslaved, that's the kind of music we need on television in Belgium!
Woooow...I never thought that Rybak will play metal since he said that metal is the furthest music genre for him...however he looks so powerful while playing it, and I definately think that this is best genre for him, because he can actually fully express his energy and show all his talent . He should keep on playing it :D

Saw them live last week. Vyl is an AMAZING drummer. He's f***ing insane. He played the whole concert like a boss and didn't even break a sweat. Actually throughout the concert it looked like he was bored because he was drumming too slow or something. God damn. Vyl is the spawn of George Kollias.
One cool thing about Obsidian is that he uses 2 AMPs and one with a little bit of delay so he can make it sound as to guitars playing at the same time, giving their live performances a heavier punch. Though during solos he can't obviously play both.
AWSOME just like apocalyptica plays one of metallica song. This is another way to play with metal :P I like it. KEEP it GOING KoK! and you rock to Alex!

@JohnZackarias Keep of Kalessin is actually Extreme Metal, which is a very close genre Black Metal, so It's not easy to hear the difference. I also thought that it was Black Metal before I wrote about the band as homework.

How this song is selected vaies between contries some have national competitions as Norway do while others commisions a composer to write a song.
