  • A fascinating and entertaining introduction to Hinduism! From the basic tenants of the religion to the vastness of its sacred texts and the hierarchy of its Gods, I'm grateful for the wealth of information that Cogito was able to put into this video and very happy that I started my journey through Indian history and culture here.

    The beauty of Hinduism
Believe in God ! - Aastik - Accepted
Don't believe in God ! - You're accepted as Nastik (Atheist)
You want to worship idols - please go ahead. You are a murti pujak.
You dont want to worship idols - no problem. You can focus on Nirguna Brahman.
You want to criticise something in our religion. Come forward. We are logical. Nyaya, Tarka etc. are core Hindu schools.
You want to accept beliefs as it is. Most welcome. Please go ahead with it.
You want to start your journey by reading Bhagvad Gita - Sure !
You want to start your journey by reading Upanishads - Go ahead
You want to start your journey by reading Purana - Be my guest.
You just don't like reading Puranas or other books. No problem my dear. Go by Bhakti tradition . ( bhakti- devotion)
You don't like idea of Bhakti ! No problem. Do your Karma. Be a karmayogi.
You want to enjoy life. Very good. No problem at all. This is Charvaka Philosophy.
You want to abstain from all the enjoyment of life & find God - jai ho ! Be a Sadhu, an ascetic !
You don't like the concept of God. You believe in Nature only - Welcome. (Trees are our friends and Prakriti or nature is worthy of worship).
You believe in one God or Supreme Energy. Superb! Follow Advaita philosophy
You want a Guru. Go ahead. Receive gyaan.
You don't want a Guru.. Help yourself ! Meditate, Study !
You believe in Female energy ! Shakti is worshipped.
You believe that every human being is equal. Yeah! You're awesome, come on let's celebrate Hinduism! "Vasudhaiva kutumbakam" (the world is a family)
You don't have time to celebrate the festival.
Don't worry. One more festival is coming! There are multiple festivals every single day of the year.
    21) You are a working person. Don't have time for religion. Its okay. You will still be a Hindu.
    22) You like to go to temples. Devotion is loved.
    23) You don't like to go to temples - no problem. You are still a Hindu!
    24) You know that Hinduism is a way of life, with considerable freedom.
    25) You believe that everything has God in it. So you worship your mother, father, guru, tree, River, Prani-matra, Earth, Universe!
    26) And If you don't believe that everything has GOD in it - No problems. Respect your viewpoint.
    27) "Sarve jana sukhino bhavantu " (May you all live happily)
You represent this! You're free to choose, my dear Hindu!
This is exactly the essence of Hinduism, all inclusive .. That is why it has withstood the test of time inspite of repeated onslaught both from within and outside, and assimilated every good aspects from everything . That is why it is eternal !!!
There is a saying in Rigveda , the first book ever known to mankind which depicts the Hinduism philosophy in a Nutshell -" Ano bhadrah Krathavo Yanthu Vishwathah"- Let the knowledge come to us from every direction".

You are right, RRR is not based on Ramayan but the character Ram and Sita loosely based on the characters. the scene where in forest Ram is shooting arrows, is inspired from Lord Rama from ramayan. If you wanna learn about Ramayan you can watch the anime movie Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama. it's a very good adaptation. (even I can rewatch with you😂)

Bro, RRR is based on two freedom fighters of different timeline One is Shri ALLURI SITHARAM RAJU(CHARACTER PLAYED BY RAM CHARAN) and another one is BHIM(PLAYED BY JR NTR). The director combined both the real life struggles of both the freedom fighters and made a movie RRR. and you are right the raju charcter was also portrayed as a character of shree ram and sita of ramayana.

The original Manusmriti, also known as the Laws of Manu, did not include those two rules. It was later adulterated by some British Sanskrit scholars. Consequently, while the authentic text contains verses where Sage Manu compares women to goddesses and advocates for their worship, the adulterated version portrays a contradictory view, containing verses that speak poorly of women. Recognizing this contradiction, several Hindu organizations have taken the initiative to present an unadulterated version based on extensive research and stringent standards.

I just want to let you know what you think about RRR or Bollywood or regional movies are not the truth of practicing Hindu. They do it for commercial purpose, might even name Ram , Hanuman but funding might come from underworld to again mislead Hindu who don’t read books. Hinduism is truly so vast . But summarise Hinduism the core thing is - Love everyone , do ur duty, help others, be kind, don't harm others both physically and mentally, always be truthful, don't become too attach to material things, be connected with nature and devote ur life to understand urself. Who are you ? What is the essence of yourself? When you say , it's my body, my mind, U try to find out who is that "My ". When you find out that then you get "moksha" or enlightenment and you become free from life cycle.
I recommend you watch "Ramayan- Legend of prince Ram" a japanese animated movie on the epic story of An Avatar Prince Rama .

You should look into the time system in Hinduism. As per vedas, our universe is 115 trillion human years old. Ancient Hindu scripture align with the heliocentric model of our solar system. The nine planets are described as revolving around the sun. The math to calculate past present and future positions of planets is well defined.
There is a lot of math involved in Hindu texts.

Basically how a han should perform when he or she is having different positions in life. mahabharata is all about how to be righteous against all odds, ❤ sorry i find my vocabulary limited to explain what i mean to say in english im better off in my vernacular to explain this.😂😂, loved the reaction though, may lord bless us all ❤❤

The character of ram is inspired from the real freedom fighter alluri seetaaraamaraju and bheem character is inspired from real life of komram bheem. They never met in real life but their approach for the goal of freedom used to be different and as per history they left their homes at same time and returned back after three years. There was no actual historical reference of what exactly happened during that time.
So the director took the liberty of making a fictional story in that time period and assuming they met. The director implemented their real life character traits of both those freedom fighters in a larger than life canvas
Komram bheem used to sing folklore songs to inspire the people of his village. Love the way how the director implemented his character trait during the flogging scene.
Also bheem is a character in the epic mahabharata. His traits are strength and bravery.
Director took the liberty in merging these traits to the real life freedom fighter as bravery is the common theme between both of them and they share the same name.
Similarly for the alluri seetha rama raju who used to have the attire of orange robe with bow and arrows similar to Lord ram.
He is an avid follower of ramayana and he prefixed the name "Sita" to his name in memory of a girl whom he loved during his youth and whose untimely demise at a young age left him heartbroken and he became a Sannyasa which basically means life of renunciation from worldly and materialistic pursuits.
So the director merged quite few common traits of the real life freedom fighters with the inspiration of their characters in the epics and showed it in a larger than life canvas.

Man never have a non Indian on Hindu without clarity on the culture or religion to explain it properly. Good very simplified naration. Manu smriti came to existence by a british discoverer during british period and it is the only one ever found. Every other book has copies found but not manu srimti. There is no representation or even mention of it across all other books and thousands of years of literature. The concept of by birth system and its implementation is actually hard to find before 250 years. Seem to magical arrive and found by a british person.

The song it mentioned in sam veda are actually mantras which are written in Sanskrit and create some special type of vibration which is similar to vibration of universe like aum or om.and one can connect with divinity via same vibrations +brahman is one but we hindus worship him in different forms according to his work like vishnu ,shiva ,brahma..thats why we debate who is superior shiva or vishnu but atlast both are brahman and only called by different names becz do different works.🙏

Siva can also be depicted as the god of creation but also the god of destruction.... Parvati and Druga and Sakti and almost all the goddesses u see in the video are the same..... Siva and Parvati have 4 kids, Ganesha, Kartik, Saraswati(Consort of Bhramha), Laxmi (Consort of Vishnu)..... Some say that Sita is the incarnation of Laxmi....
Sati is the 1st wife of Siva who dies and then reincarnates as Parvati..... Some say Sakti and vishnu are the same making Sakti the Womb that gave birth to the universe.....

If you are interested in the Vedas as an irreligious person, I'd like to suggest that you try one particular piece from the Rigveda - Nasadiya Sukta (Rigveda 10:129). It gives us a very atheistic/agnostic view of the creation of the universe, unlike any other creation myth. It's one of my favourite from the Vedas. In essence it is where the Upanishadic philosophy comes from, which you may like even more. It's just a taste of it, an apt trailer.
BTW, Hinduism is an umbrella term for a range of varied philosophies, beliefs, practices, and ways of life from the Indian subcontinent.

The video has many fallacies like the idea of Aryan invasion, the time periods, Manu Smruti being responsible for the prevalent caste system etc.
However, your interest in knowing about Sanatana Dharma/Hinduism seems genuine. For that, instead of depending on TH-cam channels dissemminating their half-baked knowledge, it is better to read atleast Bhagavadgita and Mahabharata. These two books will give you lot of insight into the Sanatana Dharma that is the Universal Dharma.
All the Best Wishes in your endeavour.
    Regards !

Brilliant reaction bud, love your open mind and thirst to learn more, but two extremely important points the original video creator conveniently left out which absolutely cannot be avoided -
    1) Every other major world "religion" namely christianity and islam *legalized and (in certain instances) even encouraged the owning of human slaves* (besides indulging in religious wars, mass conversion sprees, warranting the looting and killing of disbelievers). Slavery Or Owning another human was never even close to a concept in any part of hinduism including the 'laws of manu' which this creator tried to paint in an unfavorable light.
(( It was far ahead of its contemporaries at its time, All it did was fix the roles of certain groups with specialized skills in specific areas in society at a time when there were uncivilized barbaric foreign invaders constantly attacking, pillaging, r#ping along the borders, there was lesser time to allow creativity, free expression, and social mobility to thrive like earlier, and the focus was more on building a well controlled and productive state to deal with the threats effectively. ))
    2) While the shudras and "untouchables" (read casteless) folk did menial jobs (which they mostly opted for and preferred), they were allowed to own material wealth, transact and collect belongings and were basically left alone to do as they please in society WHICH the brahmans were NOT allowed to as they were hugely responsible for leading extremely hard lives - keeping themselves on a strict schedule of studying for most of their lives, own almost no material possessions or wealth, educating the youth of all other castes and also for providing counsel to kings and public officials for smooth policy making and governance.
Its the 200 years of christian colonial distortion of indian and hindu history by british funded crooks and sycophants which potrays the caste system in this seemingly "horrid" light even today across the world, whenever hinduism is talked about.
It was actually the most effective, rational, egalitarian and utilitarian way of running a society FOR IT'S TIME. May not be today but the necessary changes had already been brought in ages ago by hindus themselves, which they kept up exceedingly well with the times. So specially calling it out as some kind of black swan in hinduism is just absurd and malicious.
It's not like every primer on christianity and islam on the internet HAS TO mention slavery, human sacrifice and s3x slavery in it contents, when other people are curious to know more about them, right ?

This is a very rudimentary version of Hinduism. The thing with this religion, unlike abrahamic versions is that everybody has their own interpretation and ways of being spiritual. Some pray to nature, some are atheist but visit temples for the architecture, and some worship God through their work. There's no single way of worship here. Everyone has their own ways, ofc you should follow the basic rules and not hurt anyone else. But even after all this tolerance, we face constant hate and phobia from other people and religions. They don't look beyond the surface of this beautiful WAY OF LIFE that celebrates the thousand colourful ways of the universe and God.

It's worth noting that this is one of many models under the assumption that there's a creator or a central algorithm. With Hinduism, there's always a complement to any assumption. Meaning that there is a branch that works on the assumption that there's no central entity. Then there would have been a development work under this assumption. Not that we would ever know all the work with pretty much all of it being destroyed or stolen by invaders.

That Animation series was not made by India, It was made by the Japanese when they watched the Indian serial version of Ramayana which was telecasted in the 1990s. The Japanese got so impressed with the things shown in the Ramayana, that they wanted to re-make an anime series of Ramayana. Many Japanese anime are inspire from Hindu epics, in fact the Japanese have their own version of Hindu Gods in Japan. They know them by some other names, but the deities are the same.
I wished we had both Ramayana and Mahabharat shows with English subs as well, so that more people could learn about these ancient epics. Believe me there are life lessons imbibed in every line, every word of those epics.

Core concept of Dharma is not to overpower underpreliaged or lower powered human or animal thereby maintain peace and traquility in their surrondings and society. Giving donations, serving food , education or medicine shelter to people in dire need is one simple example.
