    Chima crystal in the garden may awkwardly represent a watering sprinkler (very bad idea and highly unlikely for low grav ... they'd surely use a below-surface drip system).

      Sleeping quarters in that same room isn't the best idea either. You'd have to sleep in either a lit room, or in the dark while plants produce CO2...

      I thought fountain when I first saw the crystal, but then I was like nah its placement is weird for a space habitat

      @@astromus plants actually produce O2 [oxygen] for us to breathe. When we exhale we produce CO2 [carbon dioxide] which plants processes back in to O2. They're able to trap the carbon and use it to further grow while releasing more breathable oxygen for us. Plants are homies!

      @@chrisheli1 During night, most plants produce CO2 through respiration since there's no light to photosynthesize with. Overall they absorb more carbon than they let out however.

    I haven't bought a large city set in many years but this one I might actually get. Looks awesome, and I have a weakness for space sets. Already got the rover, this goes well along with it.

    This is genuinely a nice city set. I feel like a kid again looking at all the possibilities this offers and takes me back to when I was young, and the last Space Police III came out and I used a police station to make a base for them. This tugs at my nostalgia a lot.

    The fact that the gangway/airlock folds so easily And smoothly to the perfect height! It looks so good and great integration with the other set in the line

    I love that they're basing this series on real-world concept designs! It's important to get kids interested in real science, not just sci-fi.

    I like the fact they actually designed this set to work with others. The flame from the rocket is cool, but it's a shame it comes at the cost of unusable space. Thanks, JANG.

      It's probably not advisable to be opening fuel tanks, so I'll give Lego a pass on that one ;)

    This almost seems like a must have for Lego space fans. Seeing how complete it is from the back, all the shiny new pieces, all the classic space logos and related pieces, I really don't think it's THAT overpriced. $110 would have been fine to me. Maybe it's a little smaller than I realize though.

    • @butterybricks
      @butterybricks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normally I complain about Lego City being overpriced, but this has a lot of unique pieces. maybe I'm biased towards space, but these seems like every inch has more playability and imagination than other City sets of similar price. And I think there is enough interesting vehicles and building to justify the cost.

    I was watching this guy named "R. R. Slugger" who does Rock Raiders reviews. Something I thought was neat was that he has a section in his reviews where he shows a version of the set with modifications he's made to them. I always wondered what kind of changes or modifications Jang would make to these sets while watching these reviews and after the Crocodile modification video, it seems like he has some pretty useful advice for it.
    If Jang made a video series or a section of the reviews where did that, I think people could probably get some useful tips from it and I think it would be a great way to encourage people to experiment around with their sets. That, and I just want to see what they'd look like.

    I would have absolutely loved this set as a kid. It has everything a base would need: transport, accomodations, a garage. This was the kind of stuff I used to build myself because I didn't have the money for a big set like this. But it's just so complete.

    Strangely, this gives me vibes from that space station from Halo 4... which I kinda really like TBH. I like the architectural vibe here! I have not been interested in a lot of LEGO sets for quite a while but this one I find sticks out to me at a closer look. I especially like that garage section. This subtheme also reminds me of Mars Mission. I like that it connects with other sets.

    I had the Classic Space™® 497 / 928 Big Cruiser which had 1 crater plate & 1 flat landing pad plate, and the 6970 Beta 1 launch control / monorail / cabriolet-at-a-jaunty-angle-spaceship which came with 2 crater plates.

    I can speak from personal experience that Lego Space sets inspire future engineers. I'm a judge for the FIRST Lego League, and also interview high school students applying for scholarships. The sheer number of young people who go on towards technical careers because of these toys is enormous. Some of our alumni even worked on the Mars Rovers after graduating! To the Lego designers who make these sets possible: thank you for enabling an entire generation of creative thinkers!

    This is a really fun play set. In particular, the variable-angle hatch is quite neat despite showing gaps, and the amount of play space offered by the garage is generous. The one thing that bugs me the most though - more so than some of the weird vehicles - is the garage has no door but its connected to open corridors to the interior of the modules, which I thought would've been pointed out 😂

  • @Andulvar
    @Andulvar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Given the parts count, new parts, new prints, and the amount of things to play with $120USD is about right in todays market. Since you don't know. Action figures are seeing a $3-4 mark up this year alone and that's on the low end for just Mattel WWE figures so you should be happy that Lego hasn't gone up that much.
    By the way, I don't it was cheap getting those huge translucent panels designed and get the moulds cast. It's also not like they're going to be used a lot.

    I love these sets but finances dictate choosing between Speed Champions or this so....Speed Champions it is! Only one thing I would like to see Lego change across the board, when using rubber bands make the bands the same color as the bricks it will be used with so it's less noticable.

    I don’t want realism in space, I want goofy aliens, unique colour blends, a sleek aesthetic, and not being a star wars product. I feel like lego has really miss treated the whole genre since galaxy squad. I’m sure since Disney relit the star wars candle, the theme has made a lot more money then before but I frankly just wanna see another fun self contained space theme again.

    I actually wasn't a fan of this because I thought the overall size and shape was a little underwhelming (also though it looks like what it's inspired by I don't like the "ears" on the rocket). However now I have seen the back and how it all fits together i have a solution I think would make me happy.
    I would get two.
    Connect them together, and then swap one set of beds in the dome with the garden so one dome has all the garden and one dome has all the beds.

    I actually think you get alot for this set. Any time you have new molded pieces as well at the translucent color the price will go up. also this set has a bunch of very specialized pieces and if you know anything about injection plastic molds, the more intricate the mold, the more you have to design your molding machine around making sure that piece comes out correctly. I am impressed with all the small builds that come come with this. I dont ever remember a time until the last few years whenever you would get a space base set that was enclosed on every side. also these are EXTREMELY good pieces to have for any MOC build, especially anything cyberpunk related

    The two big retailers in Australia, Kmart and Big W (probably equivalent to your Walmart) have priced this set immediately at $140 each, $20 less that the RRP that Lego themselves sell it at. And then they both will have their own sales from time to time to make these things cheaper.

    All these new space sets are wayyyy too expensive... Depending on how you look at it, 50%/33% higher than it should be. I think 80 dollars is more than fair for this set, 120 is just crazy; even with inflation.

  • @dmonsef
    @dmonsef 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice set except for some things that could have been designed better.
    1) No garage door closing for the vehicle garage or hangar(whatever it's called).
    2) The tunnel hatch ends are too narrow(they should be taller to allow an astronaut to walk through standing up).
    3) Areas of the Lunar Base have small openings(this takes away the realism from the Lunar Base being sealed from the space atmosphere). Some modding of the set could eliminate these openings. This bothers me about LEGO, because it only takes a little more effort and pieces to close some of these openings in the base. People pay good money for this set , so I expect LEGO to not cut corners like this.
    4) LEGO should come out with some black 32x32 plates w/ star prints to use for space background.

    Lame that they are trying to tell us this is the modern iteration of classic space by putting the old logo everywhere. Also, the white and light blue is possibly the most boring color combo they could have used. Slap a NASA logo on it because this is not Legoland space. Pass.

    The blue glass pieces were scuffed to hell for me, disappointing as usual. I love that the gangway can connect to the big rover, it's a shame the rocket can't connect to the space station as discussed in that review video. The flame out the bottom gimmick is awesome though, hats off to the designer for that. I kinda wish the remote car thing could fit in the back of the big rover, since its cargo space can't really do anything else.

    hey JANG. I was luck to find this in a store here in NZ, i paid $145nzd and was so happy to see the classic space logo, a nice surprise as i had only seen a couple of pics. It was the only set there and cant wait for the rover, the biggest set is $250nzd so hope to layby that.

    I'm only one that some vehicles in this sub-theme remind old classic Space sets?(for example drone in this set)

    Would be more tempted to buy multiple if the set was $100. I still really like the set. I wish I had a "space" area for it.
