Hi Pete, what a stunning morning & view to wake up to! A cracking view over to the Lakes. Great stuff. Cheers. Eddie.

Cheers Eddie. I enjoyed the bivvy, and being able to see the stars without getting out of my down bag. Hope you’re both well. Atb

Good choice. The location is so overlooked. The Lakes always gets the spotlight but also the crowds. The North Pennines has its own character and best of all, solitude. You have the some of same Alpkit kit as me. Always in good to hear what others think of it. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I do like their stuff. The zips do snag if you don’t keep the weather flap clear. I just run my fingers along to keep the flaps clear of the zip. I don’t t like carrying more than that 10 kg as I’m 68 now. I did get to the summit and experience the great views. My dad went to school in Appleby, so my roots are there. Thanks a lot for watching. Really enjoyed this Pete. Cracking area. Not as glamorous as the Lakes but much more character and proper solitude.
I was on Kinder Scout last night. Absolutely perishing 🥶
    All the best 🙏

Cracking mate. I just watched your latest vid. Yeah it was chilly on Gt Dun. Loved the bivvy. I could see the stars without leaving the bag. Never saw a soul except for those gun dogs which were super. Atb Steve.

Absolutely splendid UP. Your grumpy despair at 'four months' of rain made me laugh 😀.
Some good geology snippets too. In 1994 as an undergraduate I mapped the geology from Dufton Pike down to Murton Pike. Such a good route too you devised.....I might 'borrow' that sometime. Best wishes, Chris.

Ha! Yeah grumpy old bugger me🤣you’d love that mine track. I could spend hours picking through those spoil heaps. There was a brief snow storm in that mine valley. I even think I prefer that area over the lakes. Yeah I remember you mapped that area. There’s also a possibility of a route from where you get the hairpin on the mine track, to go up via where it says mine dis. And then along via Low Scale fell to Knock hush and up via Pennine way to knock old man.
Hope you get out soon too atb mate.

First time out, but I really liked it. There’s a mesh screen behind your head so you can see out. Then there’s one in front of your face, which you can also see out of. You can open that up wholly. The zip is long down the right side so it’s easy to get in to. Far from being claustrophobic I found that you can get good airflow around your head and you can open your eyes to see the stars etc. if you think I’ll take some night shots, all you have to do is unzip the side and take the shot. In a tent I wouldn’t be bothered to get out and do it. The bivvy took a beating in the high winds, but it was rock solid. That’s one thing that prompted me to buy one. I’m thinking that this last winter with high winds and rain (it’s 10k hh too)is the pattern for the future. The other thing is you can get a bivvy in anywhere. I’ll try and get out again soon and do a proper review. The small tarp also kept the frost and high wind deflected. Cheers bud. Thanks for watching.

We thought the mine area looked straight out of Lord of the Rings, very cool!

There was a brief snow storm in the valley but I was trying to get my poncho on quick! The camera never totally captures the towering cliffs. I’d love to root through the spoil heaps for minerals. Amazing place. Thanks for watching. Atb

Great to see you in the bivy, down gear is essential for the evening, if using a tarp, and you can offset the weight by wearing it in the night with a lighter sleeping bag, that seem to work for me, (although I really prefer the heavy sleeping bag and less night clothes but it’s all about what you want to carry,)
And pitch where you fancy is a bonus
    Cheers

Cheers Adrian. I’m such a cold sleeper. As soon as I can I’ll downsize to a lighter bag or quilt. Either way I don’t like to carry more than 10kg. Thanks for the advice. Atb

Don't know if you've been in Scoredale valley Pete but its a belter imo {obviously when the flags are down}, canny old walk you did there btw.

Yeah mate. I think thats worth a look. I’d like to get up Roman fell too if allowed to get a permit to avoid dodging live rounds.

Really enjoyed it. I loved that you could see the moon and stars through the mesh in the bivvy. The tarp worked well at keeping most of the northeast wind off. Thanks for watching. Atb
