Instead of the biscuits I use the pie crust and just use a pizza cutter to cut it, this way already rolled out to really make it a short cut, I won't add soup, but use corn starch to thicken it up
I prefer a denser noodle type dumpling. I make kluski for my chicken and dumplings. Also add some carrots, celery and onions, though that’s just my personal preference. This isn’t something we make up north as a rule. My mother never made it.

I've used flour tortillas for the dumplings. Use a pizza cutter and cut them into dumpling size pieces. Biscuit dough plumps up thicker than I like.

I slice carrots and cook with my chicken for chicken and dumplings so they get soft. I really like the taste of the carrots with the dumplings.

How long do they cook for? How do you know when they are done?
It takes about 20 minutes to cook. The chicken is done when the juices run clear when you cut into it.

We did this about 40 years ago. Great idea but it tasted like biscuits
