Brain has crossed themes. Like World Racers, 1 of the most UnderRated themes ever, considering I got every set of eBay from different sellers for actually reasonable prices, a couple years ago.
4:15 I like to think of it like "Green Lantern"... A title, or species, rather than a name. Kinda depends on the grammer used in the ads and ElseWhere, though.
@@BrickingUpBrad As a fan of Extreme Team, I gotta say I loved World Racers. I'd like to see the City theme go as far with Team Extreme SubTheme as they are for Space in 2024. The last set I think had any reference, was the SkatePark 60290 on 1 ReUsed torso. Seems like the InUniverse brand "Sport" has taken some of Team Extreme's spots. There's a lot of InUniverse branding on the World Racers, like the FuZone (LOL at the name being like "F★★★ You Zone") of sticker in set 8897. That is definitely the kind of thing you could do LoreVideos on. EnGyne, ViTA RUSH (Holy Crap, say it like Vitamin, and not vEEEtuh, LOL), the Turbo and Tiger ReUses in Lego RaceCars. All these InUniverse brands need covered, and you'd be perfect for covering it.
My headcanon for why there’s no number 13 is someone on the PM team was superstitious and believed that numbering a vehicle 13 would bring it bad luck.
It's very common for companies within Europe to avoid using the number 13 due to superstitions. It's why, in many tall buildings in the UK and Europe you won't find a floor 13. This often is the case for hotel rooms too. It's bizarre it's still a thing but considering lego is a Denmark based company, you are probably correct on the superstition side.
Awesome vid! Those little rock guys that can hold a crystal in them are amazing, never seen anything like that. I've never seen much of power miners, the builds and colors (especially 1st 2 waves) look like actual non-lego toy vehicles. Really good designs there.
1:31 he looks like a mugger from Lego City. Either decided to hunt for a bigger fortune, or the authorities got fed up and straight-up GULAGed him to dig mines away from society
There is a couple of crossovers between power miners and atlantis set 8080 is based of a concept for an unreleased power miners set and brains comes in 7984
Perfect timing I just found my bag of legos from when I was a kid and have been going down a rabbit hole remembering so much this I was one of my favorite themes
Brad you have outdone yourself with this video! I too wish that the story was fleshed out a bit more, in some ways Power Miners pales in comparison to the story telling found in Atlantis as a contemporary theme and Ninjago as one of those more matured and longstanding themes. To touch on your point about the 2nd wave having so many store exclusives, I think this was because of just how dense the first wave of products were! A lot of the first wave sets co-existed during the run of the second wave. Maybe LEGO was trying to nudge consumers to buy direct from LEGO instead of 2nd party retailers? Who knows. My personal favorite combination is the Crystal Crawler, although it has so many left over parts! I think it looks way too close to an official set that it could have become one. Something about the treads and the large orange truck bed just makes the model look hardy and satisfying! Overall great video, thank you so much for bringing light to my favorite LEGO theme of all time. I hope LEGO brings it back one day.
Thanks so much! Glad I did it justice! That honestly could have been it when it comes to exclusive store sets! Cystal Crawler is amazing and I agree it feels so much like a set! I honestly want to buy just the parts for it because it would be awesome to have!
The rock monsters are awesome, LEGO should bring them back along with the theme Great to know the lore behind the theme The commercials are awesome 16:03 is that game playable online? Awesome video
yea, game is playable, but you need browser with flash player. Someone saved almost all lego flash games, biomediaproject or something, you can google it
I remember my brother and me growing up manage to get the first six sets. Couldn’t ever get the crystal sweeper to work properly but man was that thunder driller set amazing. Also love the intro it gave me a huge wave of nostalgia all those awesome commercials
That’s a solid amount of sets right there! Cheesey studios talked about that on his video on power miners, how the cystal sweeper never works. Definitely a cool design but too bad it didn’t work great. Thunder driller top tier though! Thank you! I may or may not have done the intro like that on purpose 😂
@@BrickingUpBrad Yeah dude the sweeper was the set I wanted the most as a kid just for that function and how big and cool the design was. You wouldn’t believe the disappointment I had😂🥲
I honestly just put other Lego commercials I found into the intro. I would love to do a whole series on bionicles some day but oof i don’t think it will be any time soon😅
My absolute favorite is the command rig, probably cause it was my first big set growing up 😅. Right now I’m in the process of restoring it to it’s former glory while preserving some of its damage from play and when my cousin and I went through a phase of durability testing (this set was one of the few if not the only one to survive being rolled off a 100ft rocky cliff). I also have a head canon that the new space wave is related to power miners cause of the energy crystals for the batteries and the command rover gives me the same vibes as the command rig
for some reason it's never mentioned on any of the official boxes or promotional stuff, but it's a really cool gimmick you should try out if you get any more of the sets some day! Unfortunately the glow doesn't last very long, since the chemicals are almost 15 years old at this point, but if you're lucky it looks really pretty :)
There was a vehicle 13 set designed and prototyped it was revealed in a interview with Mark Stafford who designs some of the sets showing them in the Brick Journal interview which would’ve been a truck that converts to a mech despite getting pulled it would get reused for another them Mark was working on being a Target exclusive for Lego Atlantis theme even having the story to connect mentioning that the vehicle was donated from the power miners even having the character brains appear in one of the Atlantis sets
you dont NEED to wear a helmet when youre inside of an enclosed impact resistant cage but most sites mandate it anyway so that when you leave the equipment youre still complying
LEGO Hidden Side is a good example of LEGO Legends. Then there's other themes like LEGO Dreamzzz where there's just too many sets. Same thing with Nexo Knights. I almost prefer the themes like Monster Fighters, Pharoah's Quest, etc., that last a release season or two, and then don't come back. The idea is good enough to marinate with you but you don't feel overwhelmed by a themes 30-40+ sets released within 2 years. Of course there are evergreen themes and LEGO is a business so they will make what sells. Ninjago got cancelled and if LEGO did what I'm saying it wouldn't have come back. But really that was more or less given LEGO's internal regular release schedule, it lived, it died, as planned.
I think Lego should start to make more original themes again… it’s way more interesting than the city sub themes and the endless and boring stream of ninjago sets…
@@BrickingUpBrad Good video btw. Been reengaging w some of my old childhood themes, especially now that i’m in the industry. You’re up there w solid bricks, cheesy, and more

That’s some good head cannon!
If i remember correctly, they repurposed the design for #13 for a Mars mission set.
I think the drill suit that came in the crystal king set was number 13

My local charity shop had the Titanium Command Rig in the window over the covid lockdown. I went back when shops opened up and it had gone :(
That is so disappointing. I have had that happen with multiple sets from this theme.
