As of July 2017, Darjeeling is experiencing much political unrest, due to their attempt to gain independence from West Bengal as Gorkhaland (which is what its predominant culture is). Thus, the town might be closed. Gangtok, Pelling and other neighboring cities in Sikkim are still open and safe. I will share a couple alternative options in the meanwhile, but this video needed to be posted. +Rohit Anand It still never feels like enough time. India is so large and interestingly diverse, I don't think I could ever "do" it , even in a lifetime!
Hey its not about visiting every single place and without sounding to cheesy, once you get the essence of the country, you can well and truly say that you understand, know and have traveled the country.
I think you should get in touch with this fellow you tuber called Sherry, she does travel vlog's called "GottaDoIndia".Needless to say her vlogs are India centric and she can give you good tips. She comes across as quite grounded and approachable.
+A Graham I know! He knew I was nervous about traveling to Sikkim (it wasn't in my original plans). Getting his phone call checking on me was like -- wow!! My #angel I love Tibetan/Sikkimese people.
Hi Christine! Thank you so much for visiting Darjeeling and making your Travel Vlog. God bless you and best wishes for your future journeys and destinations... Cheerssss!!!
feel bad that you are sick but still muscle through the cold to see, travel, and document all of these interesting places in inda for all of us to see. you are admired greatly.

Your videos are truly awesome!!! I thought of commenting long before, but felt bad about the ordeal you might have gone through due to the political unrest(if at all).. but more I see your videos, my respect for you increasing day by day! What an awesome lady you are!!! I am from Kolkata, and Darjeeling is my favourite place. Darjeeling is highly populated Nepali population and thank you for posting such a beautiful scenery of Darjeeling bazaar and tea farm Christine and I am glad that you are able to visit those beautiful places 🤔
Nice videos Christine. Only recently came across your Indian videos and it's been great highlighting both the positives and the negatives of the country. I saw some older videos of yours and I thought you'd never come back to India so I am happy to see you do more India vlogs. I don't see South Indian vlogs though. Have you been to Southern India?
I've had a love affair with india for a while. Yup, Mumbai to Trivanandrum. South is beautiful- but I wasn't on TH-cam at the time. I hope to return to film it. You southern? =D There's a video that gets misunderstood *a lot* by Indians. If you listen to what I'm really saying, I'm not hating on the negs. I'm trying to show *western* travelers how to approach culture shock in a more thoughtful way and less fearful way.
GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa I'm from Bangalore, Karnataka. And agreed, a lot of stuff you stated has been misinterpreted as it's important to address some common problems for a foreign traveller so they're more prepared mentally. I guess it's just the defensive mindset of some Indians that might perceive your criticisms as negative but the fact that you've returned on another Indian adventure should erase those doubts because some people might have felt that you're just trying to throw the country in a negative shade and hence the backlash from our Indian viewers. I really hope you do a Southern Indian vlog in the future. I'm biased and I'll say the people are more friendlier and it's definitely more safer than North India. It's also way less chaotic compared to the North. I can recommend you so many places to visit but I'd assume you would've already made some research of your own so it'd probably be a futile attempt of mine to list all those places. Anyway, hope to see more of your Indian adventure videos. Take care and thanks for replying (:
Wow, Wow, and i heard of Darjeeling tee, as i'm a green tee person, and India sound like your back yard, lots of beautiful smiles like yours, and very happy your a "You Tuber" and your some gold country, as the world heard of your beautiful wedding season, and thanks for the upload, Jerome from Florida
Thank you for talking about Tibetans and their history a little bit. Hope you keep visiting India, and next time, please come to the state of Himachal Pradesh, especially the town of Mcleod Ganj. Tashi Delek!

I was wondering on what your thoughts were about leaving belongings behind in your private hotel room. Do you end up bringing everything when you go out or leave valuables behind?
All I could think of was: 1. She’s a natural 2. CNN and Parts Unknown have a void and a need. I’m taken off a beaten path in a direction I might not otherwise have gone. It’s beautiful. 3. This presenter is writer, producer, director, camera person and makeup in one. That’s rare gold you don’t see often.
Christine , once again you inspire me to travel to see this city. And as always thanks for putting the prices 😊👍 it's my price guide line when I travel to the city you feature. You always makes awesome travel videos 😘❤️ I love them all 🙏 love and light ✨💫
This is a very informative and beautiful documentary on Darjeeling. You have done such a wonderful job by also mentioning the prices and it is going to be very helpful when I plan my budget. So wanted to find out who they were and what they were doing in my home with whose permission. Thank you. For Momo's you should try Penang it's one of the best in darjeeling. So nezt time when you are planning to visit Darjeeling let me know I will help to you arrange everything so that you can enjoy darjeeling in a best way. Why are you arguing semantics?
