I saved $500 on a sander! Harbor Freight sells a 6" DA sander that is a Finishing Sander. This means the orbital action is 5/16" instead of the normal workhorse 1/4" orbital action DA Sanders with 6". 1/4" X 20 is a standard bolt. They sell pads for pressure sensitive paper (PSA), in 5" or hook & loop. (Tip) After 3,000 grit, hand sand hard areas, tape off and spray two coats on top. This is called "Second Coat Clear or Drop Coat. Like a low rider, but I am too tall so I no low ride.
Now automotive, 1/4" Orbital Action works great on primer or plastic filler. But spray clear and let it off gas, cure and shrink if any, then you take the finishing DA sander (with vacuum port) and start dry with hook & loop (Velcro) 1,000 grit, 3,000 grit and finish with maybe 5 or 6,000 grit paper sold everywhere like epay or the Forrest flea market people from the amazzzzon! I fixed vehicles by confirming the customer concern, diagnosing the root cause, not the symptom at a dealer for just one brand and I was the only one there. 8 other techs would not touch them. I paint my own as 4 kids and a wife who backs up on leap years once with bumper in tack.
There are production DA Sanders and Finishing sanders. Just buy air tool oil and run them away from the building with your son's $35 "Tee Shirts" because they have a pencil eraser size stain! Wow, how can you live like that. I do!!! Because I have $500 extra in my pocket.
I am a Trained ASE Master Tech since 78, do not attempt at home, it could make a fat wallet, your wife will spend it, she always does, thus the hazard! This is why hiding spots are located in tool boxes. To a female, grease is like a snake or toad. This works, do not tell anyone as your buddies may rat you out for a price!

I am planning on repainting my cabinets and I might’ve missed something in the video but what about the grooves in the cabinets? Would the 3/4 sander be the best to use to get those grooves without putting in too much elbow grease?

This comment isn't relevant to this video, I just wanted to ask on your most recently posted video with the higher chance that you would see it. Thank you so much for your content, I own my own business and I use a lot of this stuff as continuing education for myself and my team.
I did have a question I wanted to run by you, and it is regarding taping delicate surfaces. I was caulking and painting the kicks and trim on a staircase of a high end home, and the steps of the stairs were hardwood finished with an oil coating. I used green frog tape to create the line for the caulking and then paint over it, removed within 10-20 minutes while it was wet, and the only issue I ran into was the tape pulling up some of that finish from the floor. There have been some other projects where some wood finishes are reacting differently to adhesive compounds in the tape as well, so I was curious if you have any better guidelines or experience to share about how to navigate using the right product for something very very delicate that still requires masking?

Can I use these sanders with Festool's Dust Extractors? I am already invested in the Festool vacuum system so if this work straight out of the box or with an adapter that would be great to know.

What attachment would work with the Dewalt HEPA vac?

Wow, they better be good sanders. I nearly passed out when I saw the price for the little one. Only a pro could justify the cost of these. Too bad.

Can basically use any sand paper that ain’t too rough doing it by hand you get a better finish also machines don’t really sand it down the way you may want it as well in the end it all depends.
