- Reggio Inspired Tour Simple Natural Family Home Daycare Setup. Recycle items and create a learning environment for children. In 2017, I began a journey to change my daycare space. First I got new carpets, then painted the walls and every year since then, I am making changes.

I love to rotate my toys - children often forget they had them to play with before. Some of the items are not within the reach of children - I utilize high shelves and storage bins.
Today I show you what the daycare looks like as of 2021. I will post videos of past, present and hopefully plans to come.
The daycare space is inspired by Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf and others.

Your place is a magical learning environment that fosters curiosity, yet order & continuity...It flows very well! You are so lucky to have the outside area at direct access. I am a Montessori certified Teacher that implements Waldorf and Reggio in my at home learning environment. I have been open for 16 years with a large license. Before I was an assistant director at a Montessori center and during college I was a Nanny.

i love this my sister. I changed up to the traditional preschool vibe with the ABC 123 and I feel like such a traitor lol. BUT!!!! I will still teach in a way that reflects my love for learning naturally.
Ahhh, You definitely can incorporate both ☺️and the children are always happy to guide us. Put your own spin on how you see them learn and all will bloom 🌸

I love this!! I know your squeaky door may give the entrance character...you could just spray the door hinges with WD-40 to get rid of the sound.

Beautiful daycare. I ran a home daycare for 20 years. Covid closed me down so now I work as a pre k teacher at a church. I like the shorter hours but I really miss the daycare too. Would love to see your outdoor space.

wow i love love your environment you have set it up with so much love and thought. it flows beautifully and i love how you can do indoor outdoor at the same time. in the main area do you use one of the tables for meals just clear off and then have meals then reset for activities. and do the older children sleep in main play area. sorry for all the questions. i am a family day care educator from Australia working with 4 children a day under school age. i have just found you on socials and will be following you on your journey. have a beautiful day

Thanks so much. I serve 6 children 15months /18months - 4 and sometimes 5 years old.
We sleep, eat, play and do a lot in this small space. Yes we clear the table and eat meals in this room. It’s constant cleaning and setting up activities but thats the life of daycare providers 😁.
They sleep on cots (not sure if that’s what you use there). I place the cots around the room for 5 kids and in my office sleeps the youngest child (in a pack n play)

I love your space! I too have a home daycare. Do you have staff? I am licensed in RI and we can't have separate rooms for our babies to sleep in which I think is crazy.
Hi Gretchen, thank you. I work solo. I had a staff for four years but hasn’t since late 2021. I have heard educators like you talk about rules from agencies for infants that would make it more challenging. I would love to hear how you work with that rule and does that affect the other children? A provider in CA told me they had to check on their sleeping infants every 15 minutes (that would let me halt infant admissions ).
