You were in my country talking about a subject you have such a strong grasp. Radio is fascinating and much of the younger generation born with a cell phone in theirs hand takes for granted. Thanks for these videos! You help me think up new possibilities.
    Silly LoRa question if you have time to answer (thanks so much in advance!):
    Challenge:
    I’d like to place several small displays in a nonprofit silent auction, showing the current bid of each item on tables in one or more rooms. WiFi would likely not be great for these devices as there are a lot of people in the room also using WiFi on their phones where bids will be happening. It also eats up more power. If something gets placed outside the room, maybe not best for range. These devices also just need a little bit of data, not a TH-cam stream...
    Would LoRa be a potential fit for something like this? As I type, the biggest issue I see is a bunch of people in a room. Will that likely block the signal? The other challenge I see is 30 or so devices in a room listening for their bid change announcement. I guess the broadcasting device will just rotate through what’s listening and each device discards messages intended for other devices.
    Thanks again!
    (will test, might be good for short distances?)

      They are all 'half-duplex'. This means that they are both transmitters and receivers but not simultaneously. (Transmission is limited to a very short period compared to reception).

    • @AndreasSpiess
      @AndreasSpiess  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do not use LoRaWAN you are free to program one as transmitter and the other as a receiver. I made once a video about that.

      I made many videos about LoRa (and others exist, too). Maybe you watch a few of them and chose a project that interests you. Then you see which board is good for this particular project.

    Great video and great conference. The jokes about wives are a bit sexists. In a country where women are so often victims as in India, you really might have refrained to treat wives as scientifically ignorant. I know that you were joking and I'm sure you do not think that women are not equal to men, I just think it wasn't appropriate.
