I have been running this way for a long time, only focusing on driving arms forward, what differences in speed improvement can I expect from driving the arms back instead?
Yes. It depends on the comfortability of the runner. If the runner wants to stay loose in the upper body having the hands open is better while if the runner wants more tension then keeping the hands in more of a c shape will do that..
@@Performancelabofcalifornia Also depends if you're a sprinter or a long distance runner. There's basically no reason ever for a long distance runner to run with open hands, that causes unncesary tension between your shoulder blades.
Hey Morey, awesome video man! Just one question. I've been doing L-sit chin ups for the past 6 months in my training. I've found that it's really strengthened my lower abs, but now I have pretty bad lower back pain & I'm trying to figure out which exercise I'm doing that may be contributing. I think it may be the L-sit chin up. Do you think this exercise could cause low back pain over the long term due to its effects on the discs? Maybe I should drop it completely from my training?
gothops hmm I don’t know if it would cause lower back pain unless you swing a bunch while doing the exercise.. but if you tweaked your lower back I could see the l-sir chin ups making it worse
one way is faster then then the other way. this guy does not know what he is talking about. the more you extend your arms the slow they move. if you but the centre of rotation towards the centre it will move exponentially faster. pulling your arms inwards
Good vid man probably saved my track career lowkey
Jared Morales it certainly can!
Work🤝
Wow the analogy of going back not forward in the arms really helped

Do a Naruto run and you will be good
Is there a difference between having your hand open whilst sprinting or the c shape hand position.

@@StaffanDahlgren71 Tension in the upper body and shoulders is definitely the enemy of middle and long distance runners !
Hey, important question for me. Do I hammer down (backwards) or drive forward towards the line(focus on bringing my arms back up)
Generally pull back
your arms will naturally come back forward. just focus on hammering backwards
How do you fix elbows coming out on the back swing and hands crossing the mid line?
Practice
You can practice with light hand weights to ensure your hands and arms are going the way you wanr them to go - yoiu can do this standing still -
Should your arms move the same as your legs
your legs will follow ur arms
My shoulders hurt during extension
Pankaj vashisht Vashisht where?

Do some manual therapy on your psoas
@@Zen-t2j That's impossible because the psoas is too deep to access manually.
@@gothops2632 nope, you can dig in there with you hands. Ever better use a lacrosse ball and lay on it, I do it all the time
