Thank you Kevin! My roommate was drunk tonight after work and made some weird comment to me while I was making us dinner. Their comment had a weird detail in it that made it extremely clear that they go into my bedroom while I'm at work. I am so disturbed and angry beyond words. I am quietly changing the door handle Monday as soon as she leaves for work and I am leaving as soon as I can. I feel so violated and gross. I'm going to get a new knob that looks as close to the current one as possible. If she says something about it then I will know she's been snooping all along.

I have a doorknob like yours, but it doesn't have screws to take out.What do I do
On the side of the knob closest to the door you'll see a set screw.
Take to set screw out Slide the knob off and pull the plate out.
You should find your screws.

Thank you for this video. My daughters room has a doorknob that gets stuck from the inside and she was scared to death because she couldn’t open the door (she’s only 5) poor thing. Thankfully it’s easy to open from the outside so I am sitting here at 5am watching this video and as soon as the store opens I’m going to tackle this project.

What I use for stripped short holes are barbecue skewers which are like giant tooth picks, kind of. they work great. I've used them door striker holes, hinge holes, kitchen cabinet hinges, etc.
Wooden match sticks too (the "nonworking" end)

Has anyone in the US ever thought that if it burns on the inside of a door with a knob, it is impossible to open the door because the skin `melts` off the hand!

My dad always did everything for me and I have to figure everything out since he died.
I have arthritis now and have been having trouble gripping round door knobs and am switching it to the lever style knob.

Thank you. I'm 56 and my dogs keep getting out because my big boy has figured out how to open a latched handle. My husband won't help me. He says it's too much work to change the door handle. Doesn't look that hard based on your video, so I'm going to do it myself. Hopefully, I can do this.
You can do this just take your time.
@Kevin Robinson the first door knob and dead bolt lock that I bought, was impossible to install. Lowes that it was packaged damaged and returned. I bought another brand, and it installed exactly like your video. The dead bolt was also easy to install. Now, my dogs are safe. Thank you.

How do you get the middle piece out when the door want open?

I don't think so.
My problem is with the optional drive-in collar; it seems to inhibit the anti-pick feature. But messes the fittings when installed. I'm confused. Nothing new, however.

Good video. I tried today. My problem is door doesnt latch. I can close door and lock it but I cand just pull on door and it opens. The thingie is going in door jam bracket.😢

Sure glad i watched this video, i have never did my own repairs, dad & brothers took care of it. I just moved to a new place and I THINK someone tried getting in because the door handle was in the ground when we went yesterday. Landlord said i can replace it and he'll reimburse me. So I went out and bought new knobs and deadbolts...gonna attempt to change them out myself. 🤞

How do I put on the piece after I tightened a lock w hidden pin ? I got the ring around the pin on one end but the other side is not budging , even w a little force !

No the key points are supposed to be pointing up and change the strike plate oh well good video.
Kieran Bricker it doesn’t matter which way the key is “supposed” to be facing. It’s whatever his preference is, like he said, Mr. OCD.

i’m just trying to switch the door knobs so the lock is on the other side of the door but i can’t seem to get the insides out even after taking out all the screws it’s just stuck i think
the latch bolt part is stuck inside the door

Good evening Kevin the way you install that lock with the key pointing down is no good you would get dust all kinds of debris and a chance of water in the tumblers he should always Point up The key that's why you had a problem with your first lock that flat piece you should check make sure it hits the strike plate and not go into the hole when that piece it's the strike plate it makes the latch act like a deadbolt it would make it harder for somebody pry it open with a credit card 😎

One more thing when you stick the key in a cylinder and you open your door but the key does not want to come out make sure that your 🔑 is straight up push on the cylinder while you're pulling the 🔑 out

That's a great idea to use the glue! I know this may sound like a silly question, but can I take out an old school door that has a push button lock and replace it with a knob that has a different type of lock?
I would think so take the door knob to the store with you match it up or ask some one they will help you.
