    I watched several of these videos and still couldn't quite see anything well. This video is by far the most clear explanation and best views. Thanks!

    I cannot thank you enough! My neighbor/ alterations specialist retired and I didn't know where to go.
    At the beginning of the pandemic I cleaned up my m-i-l sewing machine and figured out how to make masks.
    Your video gave me every bit of info I needed. Success! Thank you.

    Thank you so much for this easy to follow video! I'll be letting out some pants tomorrow, and had wrapped my head around most of the process but still had a few questions. Your video explained all the holes in my understanding!

    Thank you! I have to let out some dress trousers for my husband and this is very clear. Never mind about the little things you forgot you still explained it well. I just hope there is enough fabric at the waist in the trousers I have to alter to accommodate the increase in hubby's tummy!

    Thank you SO much for this! The breakdown is clear and the steps were easy to follow. I'm a total amateur, and I successfully let out a pair of suit pants today (on the first go-around!) for an event tomorrow.
    Lovely video + total lifesaver.
    Thanks again! You're a hero.

    Thanks Mam, your guide was very helpful. Just Got my freshly sewn formal trousers & they r a little tight around my waist, have to return them to the tailor and have them let out another inch or so. Was worried about the darker triangle on the back, which i don't have to since the pants are jet black and they r brand new.

    I use a lead pencil when I need to chalk on white fabric. If it marks and you need to remove at will wash out and if you mark accidently the outside of the fabric, you can use a rubber to erase. I use the white staedler brand.

    • @AngelaWoolsey
      @AngelaWoolsey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When I was 17, a friend made me a skirt. As I watched her, my heart fluttered in my chest and I knew that I wanted to sew. My mom bought me a sewing machine for my 18th birthday and I taught myself from there. :)

    At 22:26 you took a strand of your wax thread to tack the waistband down. Why do you need wax thread for this step? Where do you get it? Thanks for the video.

    • @AngelaWoolsey
      @AngelaWoolsey  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use wax thread on all of my hand sewing projects if I have the color that matches the garment. Waxing the thread, makes the thread, stronger, helps it to glide through the fabric, easier, and helps prevent the thread from getting knotted up.
      Click below for the link to the waxed thread

    For womens pants that you have nothing to let out can't you add fabric to back seam

    • @AngelaWoolsey
      @AngelaWoolsey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could, but it may not look right. If you wear your shirt out, you could cover it. I've been thinking about how to do it and still make it look nice.

    Hi can you let out a suit jacket as well? I bought a suit from men's warehouse a few yrs ago but i gained weight and it's pretty snug now. Also would i be better off taking it back to men's warehouse and let them do the alterations or to a local tailor. TY so much.

    • @AngelaWoolsey
      @AngelaWoolsey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Letting out seams aren't difficult, so it would really depend on if you want to put the time into doing it yourself or if you'd rather pay someone to do it. There is would most likely be some hand sewing involved. Personally, I get great satisfaction in doing things myself. I hope this helps :)

    I have a few nice suits that I've had the waist and seat taken out an inch or two already. Is it possible to add fabric to the waist band to give me another two inches leaving the seat alone?

    • @AngelaWoolsey
      @AngelaWoolsey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m going to say yes, but there will be some adjustments that need to be made above the seat and where the pants meet the waistband to accommodate the extra fabric in the waistband. And then you need to consider the fabric that is added. Do you have more fabric that the pants are made from? Or will it be another color that you can make look like a design detail? I hope this helps.

    can this be done by hand? I dont have sewing machine 😢

    • @AngelaWoolsey
      @AngelaWoolsey  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Clothes were sewn by hand long before sewing machines were invented. Check out this video and begin at 8:28. th-cam.com/video/VPqq0_IDdb8/w-d-xo.html
      I show you how I stitch by hand. You'll want to use small stitches that are close together and practice on a scrap piece of fabric until you get comfortable with it. Let me know how it goes!

  • @Muzicly7
    @Muzicly7 ปีที่แล้ว

    not every pants have that extra cloth what about that?

    • @AngelaWoolsey
      @AngelaWoolsey  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the pants don't have extra fabric, you can't let them out. You can only take them in.

    It’s not fair men’s clothing is always well designed. Women’s dress pants don’t have the extra seam allowance to enlarge pants. Women aren’t allowed to get fat but men can? :(
