    Harley’s and Mod’s are like Ice cream and Chocolate sauce, a must have.

    Someone has to do it first. May as well be you Mal. That bike is a few decades apart from me owning one but I've always believed it's 80% rider. Looking forward to following your build.

      Cheers Dean yep pretty much a decent rider can throw anything around like a bmx bike!
      Tomorrow's video will show where you can take a Pan Am, filmed it today I think I got some decent footage

    Looks awesome. It's amazing how simple things change your ride so much. Also, part of the fun, customising your bike.

    I'm in Melbourne Vic, I got a 2022 Pan Am Special, the denim green army version, in March 2023, I love it, and apart from little issues, it has been fine. Had a problem with the starter clutch, they replaced it under warranty. They didn't update the software before I got it and I had the ommeter stop working, not hard to fix.
    I have a constant problem with the battery not having enough charge to start the bike after a day of sitting, expecially in the cold. I think it sat on the show room too long with a flat battery, they keep telling me it is fine, I'm going to swap it with a similar type of battery from my old HD (that can sit for a week between starting), and see if I have the same problem.
    I wrapped the headers, mostly to reduce the heat on my right calf in short road boots. I am a bit concerned about the front hose pipe, where it is close to the exhaust, as it is showing some heat damage, even with the header wrapped.
    I've used mine off road for a few hundred km's, it is a lot of fun, very capable, if a bit heavy for difficult tracks, but great on dirt roads. I ride mine practically every day, it is a fantastic commuter and open road bike. It is not a off road trails bike, it can do it, but it is to damn heavy and tiring. Better to be on a 500cc adventure bike for trail riding.
    I did look into changing the muffler, but there was not ECU profile available to remap it and not make it run too lean with the better breathing, am waiting for that to be developed.
    The custom modes are fantastic, detuned when off road. Road riding, I have A mode set for responsive road riding, with to 3 of 4 (or +, not max) throttle response, max engine braking on 5 of 5, (max), suspension on hard/sport. Then I have a softer tuning for B, same 3 out of 4 throttle, engine braking on 4 out of 5, suspension balance setting. If I'm doing road touring, I just change the A suspension to Balanced and B to Comfort. It takes only a few moments to adjust. Then it has two settings for dirt riding. It is amazing what you can do. I rarely use the rain mode, it drops the power too much, just have the rain TCS and ABS on the B mode.
    I saw someone's data for dyno testing, Sport was 139hp at the rear wheel (down from the claimed 150hp at the crank), Road 130hp, Dirt 118hp and Rain 80hp. Both Road and Dirt had a slighly lower power curve, when compared to Sport, and Rain power was very de-tuned. I only really used it during the run in period.
    I did the same mode with the front mudguard, fitted Barkbusters, radiator guard, upgraded the crash plate, changed the seat to a Sargent, fitted the same type of low screen with a small deflector on the top (now I have no turbulance or bufferting around the helmet). I still need to change the pegs (have them on order) and the back rack.

      Wow thanks for all the info! I'm wrapped with the bike for different reasons to the 1290 I had, sure the kato is going to be a better off road bike, but the next video will show where you can ride the PA! I was given a trickle charger to plug in if leaving the bike for a while, I've heard of guys installing a better battery on the bike.
      Pazoma Racing is where I got the rack, via ebay, but ordered the pipe direct, it was 600 bucks complete with link pipe. I'll post a vid when it turns up. Cheers for the comment greatly appreciated! Md.

    Mate, I had three boxers, they lived long healthy lives, 13yrs, which was longer than I've owned any bike...still can't get used to seeing a boxer with a tail, kinda like seeing a Harley off-road...guess you get used to it.

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha you nailed it! Buzz is the old boy he's 10 soon, George is nearly 3, great dogs, even with a tail! And yeah a Harley off road who'd of thought!

      Haha I had to chime in and agree about the tailed up Boxers, it just seems wrong! Grew up with boxers and miss them fantastic dogs. Not convinced about the off road Harley either so interested to see how she goes.
